I am a Bob Ross Fan. Just Found Bill here on youtube. I really think he is better than Bob on certain things, and his brushes look to be better quality.
@mahmood4031 You can make it yourself for cheaper than you could buy it anywhere. It's just titanium white mixed with linseed oil and/or paint thinner to thin it out.
@mahmood4031 or use liquid white (Bob Ross brand). Actually he uses his liquid clear for transparency as in water or seascapes. But liquid white for all else for his wet on wet technique. He's also got black jesso, grey jesso, for solid dark starting surfaces but the jesso's are a dry start. For a night seascape you would apply black jesso (sorry its gesso not jesso) then let that dry , after that dries then u would add liquid clear on that for night transparency.
HOW THE HELL DID HE DO THAT!?!?! I bet if anyone else here even thought about mixing more than two colors together right on the palette they would get a nice mud brown. AND on top of that he's mixing green and red (they make brown) + plus blue and he's coming out with this AMAZING turquoise.
@vintage1351 I am an ACI and I know how they do that. IT takes some practice but here is how it is done.
1. You need a very thick oil paint as the base. Any ole paint will not do. Wilson Bicksford and ACI I think came out with a real thick paint. Alex art has paint as well.
2. Thin paint sticks to thick paint. You need to think it to the proper constancy and load the brush correctly for it to work.
3. Load brush and lightly paint the thick paint with the thin paint.
I´m not sure but I don´t understand what do you use in the beginning before paint. Which substance? Is it petroleum spirit? or a mix with PS and linaza oil, I mean Medium?
@BurnVillage He used "magic white"...you could also use son linseed oil, or walnut oil, or you could go the Bob Ross way, liquid white or liq white and liq clear.
@BurnVillage Contact me and I can help you. I am an ACI. I don't paint as a teacher now but I know how to do this. I been sick a lot so I figured I would teach on the web and there is no charge for that as I am for the resource based economy.
@iwantausernamenow333 Bob Ross is ok in my book. I like some of his stuff better in Some ways like the trees but Bill teaches stuff that Bob did not do so one can learn from Both. Bob Ross has passed on due to cancer. Alexander taught Bob Ross and I think there as a miscommunication and things did not go to well after that so they went their own ways after a while.
Both have their positives. I need to listen to both. Happy Trees you know.
I am a sad excuse for an "artist" but I enjoy oils, and sometimes when I'm particularly annoyed with a painting I am attempting, but usually failing at, I just step back and come here and watch anyone of his videos....not for instruction, but my god that man can bring a smile to anyones face......lol what makes me chuckle is when he starts describing how he is painting the light......@3:58 through 4:18....

That's not a war flashback. "Fire in" was Bill's catchphrase. He said that to get people motivated.
Read Bill's biography. You'll find out that he hated war, and showed a lot of mercy.
