  • Hopefully Israel and America will stay strong in these turbulent years ahead.

  • but i can not be strong all the time!

  • The singer is Paul Newman.

Listen to one of the Pat Boone recordings, they are easy enough to find, on the suggestions list. You will find that Pat Boone is not a patch on Newman.

Make the effort to check before you go round making pronouncements on who is singing.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl You are wrong that is Pat Boone Chutzpah Girl

  • @latefor

Listen to a Pat Boone recording, you will see the voice is quite different.

Pat Boone WROTE the song. The song has become Zionist propaganda, which is most unfortunate, because Boone himself was a man of integrity.

  • pat boone

  • who is the singer? is it the same as the original soundtrack of the film exodus?

    thanks.

btw: I dont understand the connection between the vid and the music and the description, because originally it is about the ship of exodus of jewish refugees from holocaust who were not let go to shore in Haifa in 1947 when British mandate ruled the land. The film is based on true story

  • Totally Pat Boone.

  • @kjfrey55

You have never listened to Pat Boone if you think this is him.

However, Pat Boone did write the words to this song, and - obviously - was the first to sing it.

He wrote the words, not the music - he is not that clever.

  • It sounds like Pat Boone, he sang this song for the 1960's album soundtrack.

  • who's the singer?? nice voice :)

  • @chingizkhan2000

    Paul Newman

He had a lead role in the film.

  • This song sounds a lot better when you don't understand the words.

  • I think everybody loves their own homes best! Everybody wants their home to be a free land for their children to grow up in. Nobody wants to have to flee to another country away from all that is known and used and feels close. Everybody wishes they could live freely in their own home country first of all. All other choices are secondly to the first choice!! Of course!! That is not hard to understand!!!

  • I have know clue what they're fighting over. It's just over sized sandbox with hardly any water , forests, food and it's hot as hell. What's the big deal. I'd be fighting to get out of there. they've been fighting since before Christ. Here's a hint.... GROW UP!! and play nice. This song could be used by all. Not just Jews or anyone who thinks that it pertains just to a singular being. If that were the case... then who would "own this land?? " explains a lot about religion.

  • Let Iran burn in the inferno of its own irrational hatred.

  • Israel has nuclear weapons let IRAN , also have nuclear weapons.

  • @arthur777ist , there are 70 reasons why Israel has Nukes. & all of them are protection of their people from all fanatics & hating neighbors! You know that Jews were were always under attacks since the early times in history. & the only thing they want is live in peace in King David's territory. Which is as small as the entire New Jersey !

but Iran has no business to have Nukes but has only one reason, & that is to destroy & to hate.

  • not a religious person myself, but this is an amazing song sung by a incredible singer

  • @GizmoMofo7

This song is not about religion, it is about the delusional idea that Jews had priority to the Holy Land ahead of the traditional (Arab) residents.

The movie, from which this song derives, implies that Jews came to an uninhabited land to re-establish the Jewish nation. The land titles were all stolen, and the true owners forced from the land the Israeli Defence Forces.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl You have a distorted view chutzpah girl you are confused just as your name suggests using a common Israeli word as your identity to hide your arab leanings/or roots shame on you.By the way Pat Boone sings the song and that's that get it

  • @latefor

Boone is not singing this version. His voice is not as good as this.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl

Get lost, nobody likes you, you Jew hating FAKE Christian

  • We are all humans...and such a stupid race too....one human can't stop fighting the other

    Thank you Otto Preminger

  • Beautiful music, wonderfully sung.

I am always a little afraid this song might somehow be Zionist [Israeli] propaganda.

Does anyone know the origins of this song?

  • @TheChutzpahGirl this song is originally from the motion picture "Exodus", one of the most spectacular movies ever made. Paul Newman played lead male. the movie based on the book of Leon Uris and is in a way the story of the new Israel.

the most impressive version was sung by Edith Piaf.

And no, it´s now ropaganda, it´s only a great song

  • @cendana03 Zionist, so what? I am Zionist as well, and proud.

    Am Yisrael Chai!

  • @Zahal948

What is it you are so proud of?

    The Palestinians you have killed?

The way you have evicted the Palestinians for their own land?

The way you have stolen the land?

...strange kind of pride! ...not a normal reaction.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl not stolen but bought on 10times higher price! FACTS! what's on your mind, the Israelis who have been blowed up by palestinians? The Jews who had been perseuted by al Husseini in the 1930's and the pogrom in 1929? Or the constant agression by the arab states since 1948?! (1948, pre-1967, 1973, organized terrorism), supported by the panarab teams in the UN, the state sponsored terrorism by Iran, making nuclear weapons and declaring openly to destroy Israel?!

  • @TheChutzpahGirl How can you deride Pat Boone? An American icon, and you belittle his choice of songs.

Better get out of the house, have some coffee, and face reality = Leon Uris, an American Jew, wrote Exodus, the heroics of Ari Ben-Canaan, and the founding of Israel - this is the theme from the movie based on the book.

What could be more Zionist? What could be more melodious?

  • violence shouldn't be the answer over a religious disagreement.

no matter what you believe in, we are all the same.

we all eat, give, love, and live.

put aside your damn religion and you'll see there's is much more to life then this fight.

    I Love Israel

  • What an ignorant, hatefull little hillbilly you must be.

  • im about to cry...

i hate to say this because i love radiohead so much but when i was reading the piano sheet music for this i thought it was sheet music for karma police... they are like the exact same thing if you listen close

  • who sang this song?

  • PAT BOONE

  • c est de la musique genre fin du monde, vraiment glorieux,il y a une traduction francaise

  • Have another read of Exodus chapters 7 through 12. It's one of the most appalling stories in literature. God hardens Pharaoh's heart repeatedly, then brings these horrible plagues, then kills the eldest son of EVERY Egyptian household and of their slaves, their prisoners, even their livestock, and all so that he can show off his magical powers. There was not one home without a death. Have you ever lost a child? I have. With a god like that, who needs enemies?
  • This story illustrates the destruction that pride will bring upon you. Had Pharaoh humbled himself before God, nothing would have happened. But Pharaoh's belief that he was a living god and his pride wouldn't let him.

  • "Had Pharaoh humbled himself before God, nothing would have happened."

Exodus 4:21 but I WILL HARDEN HIS HEART,

that he shall not let the people go.

    7:3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart

7:13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart

9:13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart

10:1 And the LORD said unto MosesI have hardened his heart that I might shew these my signs

10:20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart

10:27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart

11:10 and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart

  • Pharaoh obviously had no choice in the matter. Paul agreed with my assessment, for he wrote For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, THAT I MIGHT SHEW MY POWER in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and WHOM HE WILL HE HARDENETH. Romans 9:17, 18 It wasn't Pharaoh's fault or choice at all. God SAID he would harden P's heart and God DID harden it repeatedly.
  • dont even ask me to explain it to you even though this issue is raised so much in traditional Jewish thought.

  • "dont even ask me to explain it to you"

    No fear, blatt.

    I won't.

  • Ok ill explain it to you. If someone is so obstinate in their approach to life as to be beyond rebuke then at that stage the L-rd hardens their hearts. There now you made me explain it

  • "If someone is so obstinate in their approach to life as to be beyond rebuke then at that stage the L-rd hardens their hearts. "

If you'll take half an hour to read the story of the Exodus

you'll see that God stated before negotiations began

that he would harden Pharaoh's heart,

and then he did so, repeatedly.

AND he killed innocent children and animals.

  • continued..evil , at some point, Almighty G-d Himself hardens their hearts to block them from ever returning

  • I am truly sorry to hear that you have lost a child.

  • jews and palestinians lived together in peace and harmony for centuries until the jews returned from hollocaust last century...the jews who returned were not the real israel...the real israel was the state and people before they came....bring back the old israel...bring back peace in the land...if the world unite to bring back the old israel then all of israel shall be saved....

  • Don't fool yourself. For centuries Jews in the holy land were robbed of all their possessions by the Moslems, look at any time period, 700, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1500. Only in the Ottomon times were Jews slightly better off and even then not by nuch

  • in the bible, the whole chapter of joshua deals with jews grabbing lands, murdering young and old, men and women and plundering...what goes around comes around...

  • have you changed the subject ? Of G-d appears and says: Take this land, do we ask questions ? That's what happened in the bible. In our own times, we have no right to assume a divine command against the Palestinians. But we do have our 2000 year old prayers said 3 times a day each day y all Jews for generations, to plead from Almighty G-fd to return us to this land. So now it happened through history. Are we to assume that this is not the hand of G-d ?

  • definitely not the hand of god but the jew's.... they're the ones who wrote the bible remember.... they believed in what they wrote and has braninwashed the world about it....

  • Are we not human beings in your eyes ? We are just as human. We have survived for a long time. Can you deny that we have prayed to return to our land ? We are secular now, but that will change with time.

  • can jews see themselves with their own eyes? no they dont...they believe they are god's chosen people...they use this so called 'covenant' to do whatever they want /grab lands, discriminate, murder/...call that humane?...if there is a god, it is definitely not the same god mentioned in your bible...

  • Dear dfword

i believe that we do see ourselves even with your eyes. I can understand your feelings about us. Believe me, if we would not have been killed and burnt in the millons for 2 thousand years, we would behave differently. That kind of history does something to a person. As a person of faith, i see it as the hand of G-d. Thats my faith, the Jewish faith, an ancient and true tradition that promises us one day to return to our ancient homeland.

  • Hi Dfword

I would also like to say that we are not landgrabbers. How big is Israel altogether ? Its tiny ! We are trying to survive here, we have fought so many wars and dealt with so much aggression, it makes things very complicated to know the border between defending yourself and being moral.

  • you are not landgrabbers, sez who...even your bible sez that...please read the whole chapter of joshua and tell me whether the land you have now was originally yours...

  • I've read that many times. The entire Jewish bible speaks about G-d trying to get the Jews into Israel. If you are an athiest, then there is still room to respect people of faith just as i respect your sense of justice. Where would you suggest that we live ?

  • you can live anywhere you want so long as you dont displace other people nor force them out of their lands with your bombs...religion must first respect humanity before atheists respect any religion.....religion doesn't even respect atheists as religion refers to atheists as evil and sinners...

  • these people were not displaced intentionally or with wilfilness. They were told to flee by the arab regimes. those who stayed behind live in Israel today - over one and a half million. We did not wish to displace anyone but rather to live side by side in peace. If only the Arabs would accept it then we would be a lot calmer and less neurotic, dfword !

  • Not even modern Israeli Historians believe in your theory. The Israeli armed force carried out a policy of harassing, and in some places terror was used in order to help to displace the Arab population out of their homes. I think you should revise your knowledge of History.

  • "For centuries Jews in the holy land were robbed of all their possessions by the Moslems"

    In the book of Exodus

it was the Israelites robbing the Egyptians,

    on god's instructions.

And that was after the Egyptians

had fed the Israelites during the famine

and had given them the best land to live on and to farm.

  • ummm you left out the part where the egyptians enslaved us and killed all our male children ?

  • bello, bello, bello!!!

  • its not jesus who returns. its the wrong messias. he brings death to hole christianity. than prophet jesus comes and kill this creature. muslims and jews are last men on earth til..

  • Why do you revere Jesus(PuyPofP) as a prophet?

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • Freedom is very much a state of mind. A man in prison can be more free than a man who can wander the world. Freedom comes from within...it is a spiritual dimension, not a physical one.

  • All the same, every human being deserves to live freely too

  • @shemsumaster

I doubt you would feel so free about proclaiming such high ideals if you were the one in prison.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl Interesting comment, because a key portion of the story of Exodus took place in a prison - where the Brits interned Jewish freedom fighters. So it is appropriate that your comment highlights freedom and prison - perhaps you would prefer a song about the death camps of Europe - the story has that too, and that is why the song, the story and the land are so beautiful, and filled with ideals.

  • @stephanepereire

The Exodus story is a fantasy.

The ship – SS Exodus – was so dangerously overloaded with people I am surprised that this shocking fact has never come to light. 4,500 people were crowded onto a ship that was designed to accommodate 400 troops. There was only 1 toilet block (designed for 400 men), and after the first day, it back flowed !!

No one in their right mind would have travelled on that ship if they had known how many they would be travelling with.

  • @TheChutzpahGirl Maybe it's because they preferred being on that ship for a few days rather than continue in the forced squalor of the Cypriot DP camps? And do you know what the ultimate insult was? Sending that ship to Hamburg! Shows how much you know.

  • @DevilInPgh

The ship sailed from FRANCE not Cypress. Both novel and film are fantasy. After arriving, the ship never left Haifa. It was not seaworthy.

The passengers were returned to France, where they refused to disembark, so they have no one but themselves to thank if they ended up in German camps. They were all illegals, all Europeans, and Europe was willing to accommodate them, and had the room to do so.

The S S Exodus was a PROPAGANDA STUNT.

  • Pat Boone wrote the lyrics. Ernest Gold wrote the music. Boone is a practicing Christian.

  • And Jesus was a practicing JEW

  • ...Actually he was an Israelite, a direct descendant of King David in all its prophetic possibilities and in the earthly realm. In the spiritual realm he was, and is, the Son of God, the Christ in all its Divine possibilities.

"Jew" is a term used mostly to signify the religious leadership who taught the false doctrine of self-righteous which he condemned strongly.

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His Mercy has He Saved us (believers in Him)." Titus 3

  • "a direct descendant of King David "

    Yeah, right... ¬¬

  • lredmon,

when I saw your "verse" from Titus 3:

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His Mercy has He Saved us (believers in Him)." Titus 3 - I thought of Ephesians 2:8-9.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Seems that believers' minds think alike. :)

    lonewolf379th

  • LONEWOLF.......Agree, we think alike...as we have the same Spirit...(smile)...

  • Jew comes from Judah, one of the 12 tribes of Israel, later to become the dominant force in the southern kingdom of Judea, after the northern kingdom of Israel was destroyed by the Babylonians. Roman times found only Judea extant hence the name Jew, stemming from this time. In actual fact Israel is a more historical name than Jew

  • thanx for uploading this song im serching for this, god bless

  • and whats with the ghost? whats this got to do with ghosts?

  • beatiful Am Yisrael Chai!

    Eva2000

  • od avinu chai!

  • beautiful song and sad but unfortunatly it will never be a free land untill the bad people stop beeing bad to the folk of israel

  • jazzataz, thank you for telling me this. :)

  • You're welcome..it is a great song, isn't it? Now, if we could find out the connection with "Ghost"..LOL

  • I love this song and the voice of the singer is excellent, better the that of Andy Williams'. But who the singer is and why the lyrics is modified? And why is this song has something to do with "Ghost"?

  • The singer is Pat Boone.

  • I hate to tell you, but the singer is the author, Pat Boone.

    Hard to believe

  • i've been looking for this version of the song. thanks for sharing it.

  • A lyrical masterpiece How unfortunate that the words only envisage a land where children can run free, the reality is a land where innocent children are slaughtered by extremist fanatics.

    "AM YISRAEL CHAI"

  • robi6942: its envisioning the future, not reality. i so love this song anyway.

  • Some day, when King Jesus returns, you can rest assured all will be made as is told in the Holy Bible, all of it, both testaments.

  • amen!
