When I was the same age as Dime,I would've Loved to have a band as good as this to play my Van Halen obsessions with.Fortunately,I Never did,I ended up in an Aussie band called HITMEN DTK playing rhythm guitar from 87[JK Explosion-Hitmen Singer/Screaming Tribesmen Lead guitar/Bass]to 92.I got to do the Lead crazy, with Roddy Radalj [Australias Don Juan of Rock]and had a LOT of FUN.Whatever ANYONE may think,Dime is PLAYING HIS ASS OFF HERE!! Really good playing.I never got to the US[Thanks Immig]
Thank god! They turned up the hardcore! Walk!!!!!!!!! But i guess they had to start somewhere. Even if it is glam hairspray shit. I remeber that crap.
@dreamy839 YOU ARE CRAP wanker!!!! old pantera fuckin rules dickhead not the new one which is ok but too mainstream which kinda sucks!!! i love to bits old pantera Terry is a living LEGEND to me and for many others!!!
@wraithgrinder I voted Thumbs up, to me ,Pantera is the only group I know of that got More Heavy as they got older; most bands get more commercial as they get older to make more money... I like early Pantera better
@Theskybluelake thnx for the thumb i love old pantera more too i dont know why i just find myself in Terrys voice and in the lyrics of those times!!!! The energy that Pantera blasted on those 3 early albums blows my mind still and Terrys range is unbvelievable!!!!!!!!!! I am a vocalist so i love the way Terry sang here and for me he is THE GOD OF GLAM METAL!! R.I.P old Pantera
You are shitting me right? Their first 3 albums were nothing more than good old, lighthearted hair-metal fun. Nothing wrong with that. But saying they wen't down the shitter after that is more than ridiculous. Starting with power metal, pantera transformed into a technical flawless machine that produced the finest metal ever known to mankind. Anselmos vocal range, rex' groovy bass, vinnies fills and dimebags flawless guitar work made pantera what it is today. A legend.
OK! FINE! I was counting The Hot 'n Heavy Home Vid and the other video (name escapes me) that had some original stuff on it... Not to mention the demos recorded at Jerry's studio. :) \m/
@themaninblac I was including a couple of the demos they did at Jerry's place and a video... but you are correct... officially, that would have been the 5th release.
I think Terry Glaze still to this day talks to Vinnie Paul and Rex. But you can tell deep down inside Terry must be glad that PanterA ended. Because if you think about it Terry missed out on the whole Pantera experience. he missed out on all of the fame, fortune, etc.... So he musta been pissed when he was kicked out and Pantera got famous.
Phil was in the band when they recorded power metal in 1988 and also phil used to be in a cover band for priest and he could really hit them high notes. So yeah... he didn't just do cowboys from hell.. vulgar.. far beyond.. and revienting the steel..
Phil was a "Junkie" & was the real demise of Pantera, it is just a sad thing that nathan fuckwad took his anger out on the wrong person, because Dime was the coolest & most talented person in the Bizz & Pantera as a whole was killer in whole no matter what era they were in. It's just sad to see Dime gone for no reason ! He is so missed as you can see, & this era of the band was great too.
So, you got it out of your mom's closet, it's ok but it still rocks hard you can't deny. Long live PANTERA !
The main difference was when they changed singers Phil was deeper and more of a growler where in the 80s we all liked the higher voices like Robert Plant, or Angus.
I'm glad they changed styles, because Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power are two of the most state of the art metal albums ever. Don't care for any of the stuff before or after those two albums.
Honestly i like glamtera better than thei heavier stuff. My favorite album by them is power metal which is when phil just joined, it reminds me of judas preist painkiller album.
I wrote a song like this with my band in high school. The song is called "Bad Boys Gone Worse." I'm serious it had the same riff and I've never heard this song before!
holy shit that was the hard rock cafe concert hall in lawton oklahoma now its called the McMahan auditorium! thats where their first 5 years of playing was. they went to arlington right before getting paul in the band and becoming thrash/groove metal
@MetalHealthTheJoker What in the world are you talking about? They grew up in Arlington, played in Arlington, then all over the place...lol. First show I ever saw them play in a venue was at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington, when they rented out the Southern Palace and put on a great show. They used to rent out warehouses/storage units and play shows. Went to high school with Darrell (Vince and Rex were older) at Arlington High School. Your comment makes absolutely no sense to me. LMAO!
@alexdetroy YES, it is Rock You Like A Hurricane. And you care.
I like listening to all the Pantera albums subsequently. There were the Balls in every era they played in. It's awesome to hear how they changed without losing vital aspects of their style, like various other bands I won't mention. They just evolved naturally.
Weird that he came pissed cuz when I told him that my band will record a cover of "come on-eyes" he was thrilled and said that he really wanted to hear that when it's done. :)
yeah. i dont want to say exactly where cuz that could be bad. but yeah we live near dc in md. terry does guitar for our school musicals and stuff. its really great
This one Sounds just like Pantera, fukkin Cowboyz from TX, they did it baby this song had 2fukkin be the hottest song of 1984...this one is one of them 5hotest Metal songs i ever buy...uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Heavy metal rules
