I agree about that dang denman. I gave that thing up because I already have enough shrinkage as it is. My hair is real long and that denman had it shrank to my ears :-(

I'm will be 24 in a month and now im eatin those words....i miss my natural hair because like you now i realize what i have in my own hair....im 3 months post and i just wanna chop it all off.

But it is a pain because when i wore bantu knots it decided it was gonna rain then get extra humid...my natural hair started to shrink while the permed curls dropped....i was pissed!! And that was early in the day while i was at work...it looked a mess and thats why i got braids lol. So i have already had my hardship with the two textures..and the sad part is that its still growin and my plan was to cut it in June 2012..but i just might take ur advice

LOL at the methods people use to stretch their curls. I just hold my hair out with my hand and use cool air from a blow dryer for a few seconds and move on to the next section. It takes 10-12 minutes and lasts until it gets wet again. I think hair texture plays a role in what method works for whom. Everyone has different ways...some funny than others : )

After I shower, then put my product in I sit in front of a small fan while doing my makeup...then before I leave the house at 85% dry I take some cream, oil or whatever and take my hair in a back ponytail...just with my hair.and stretch my hair out.

0.38 Perfect analogy. Shelly (YoutubeHairCare) did a nice vid on this subject a while back and she had the same experience as you: More shrinkage when using the brush as opposed to using her fingers to “shingle”.

It might be fun to play with that knowledge and try to achieve an edgy tapered look by using the Deman at the nape & back/sides and your usual method on the top/front…???

I use a denman brush and i get TONS of shrinkage. I do a modified version of the tightly curly method and after i detangle with the denman i do a "braidout". It doesnt turn out like a regular braidout because of the denman. i usually do 2 or 4 braids and let it dry overnite and my curls are stretched and defined. then i style it in the morning and it turns out amazing for me! i have similar curls as you. maybe you should try it :)

that's a really good method! what i usually do to stretch my hair is plait it after i wash it & take them out when it's dry, but it's kind of time consuming. also, you can do the ponytail holder method. for me though, the plaits work better. i guess it's basicaly kind of a braid out, but i do find that my curls end up being defined and stretched!!

Very nice! if you want you could also try using the attachment nozzle on your blow dryer, you could even use cool air and stretch your roots when its about 90% dry that might help to!
