@dougjensen Relax. It's just a young student playing the piece in a countryside church. What do you expect? I think this sounds great, and is a lovely presentation of Messiaen's masterpiece.
The first time I heard this piece, it was in a small church in Ann Arbor on a small tracker organ. William Albright, who studied with Messiaen, was performing. The great thing about his music is that it takes on a completely different feeling depending on the resources of the instrument. But the emotion comes from the music and the artist, not the just the instrument.
Mine too, I have quite a few audio and video recordings of it. IMHO this instrument does not have sufficient resources to do the work justice, nor am I wild about the building's acoustics and/or the recording. Check out Swann's or Thiry's or anyone's in St. Ouen -- they really show what this glorious work can sound like!
