what is this country coming to? my first grade class had 41 kids, and my sisters second grade class had 62 kids. and we were all like little soldiers. if they would bring back the paddle in school and let parents dicipline their kids with the switch again you would not need any of this class size legislation crap. look at teenage violence stats 50, 40, 30 years ago, compare that to today. kids back then respected authority. oh i forgot dicipline can damage little Johnny & Susie emotionally.
I grew up in Japan during 70s and 80s. Throghout my public elementary and junior high school years in Tokyo, average class size was 40. I attended one of the better private high school and its class size was like 55. Japan wasn't doing bad during those years academically during those years. I don't really understand those panic over bigger class size (like 30+?) in the U.S.A. I think they are just spoiled. Maybe teachers' union don't want the demand to go down.
