Troy Aikman=Tony Romo, Emmitt Smith=Demarco Murray, Michael Irving=?????? That void has yet to be filled, but it will in time. And the entire NFL will once again tremble at the sound, "America's Team"
I have once claimed that Tom Landry left our world and that we could never again see greatness of that caliber again. But, I was wrong. The greatness did come back. Only that time, it returned as three seperate beings. Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irving. The reminded Dallas, that good-byes aren't forever. And just like it was almost 20 years ago, the greatness has started to return.

THE GREATEST Football team EVER put on a field. There hasn't been one like the 90's Dallas Cowboys, and there hasn't been anyone close since then. Those who were lucky enough to see them in person we witnessed History.
@DeVstatrOmga People who saw the 70s Dallas Cowboys were luckier. The 70s Dallas Cowboys reached more playoffs, had more division championships, and more superbowl appearances than the 90s Dallas Cowboys. Roger Staubach is the top ranking Dallas Cowboy quarterback in NFL history.
Tony Dorsett has a higher overall average yards per carry than Emmit Smith. If Dorsett had the same number of carries as Smith he would have doubled the all time rushing record.
@chroniclerofthe70s dorsett would have physically broke down long before he got anywhere near the number of rushes smith got, when you look at what emmitt's effect on a game was, you will see his value. He was the closer, the short yardage/goal line monster, the guy who can run 10 times in a row in the 4th quarter to eat the clock. That's ball control offense, and it doesnt make for pretty stats for anyone, it just wins.
@22steve5150 Emmitt was a powerful running back. Dorsett was more about agility and speed. The 60s, 70s, and 80s Dallas Cowboys collectively had 20 consecutive winning seasons. The 90s Dallas Cowboys do not match the 70s Cowboys in consecutive winning seasons or division championships.
Dorsett holds the record for longest return and Staubach is the no. 1 ranked quarterback in NFL history.
@chroniclerofthe70s staubach retired as the number 1 rated passer, he isnt anymore, and the late 60s, 70s, and early 80s teams didnt deal with the salary cap, free agency, or going through 3 coaches in a decade, not to mention being coached by the likes of barry switzer, one of the worst head coaches in modern NFL history, or having no draft help from 1995 on due to Jerrah's terrible drafting. Also, Dorsett only had about a 0.15 greater yards per carry than smith.
@22steve5150 You said it, what's become of the NFL. Still a football fan but there are times the greed and over regulated league can be a downer. Aikman, Irvin, Smith, and Haley made me a fan of the Dallas Cowboys again. What's going on with the Cowboys not being able to remain consistent these days? Well, maybe they'll pull off a division championship.
Just imagine the triplets under Tom Landry's coaching. The Cowboys would have at least 10 SB trophies

Don meredith, Don perkins and Bob hayes. Roger staubach, tony dorsett and Drew pearson
