Yea i bought the fobus ankle holster from cheaperthandirt and it's really nice...very concealable..i am a big fan on inside the pants holsters..and often have a hard time deciding to carry my lcr or glock 17
do you think there would be any issue with the rubber Hogue Tamer grip in carrying IWB so far as snagging on clothing or anything like that? I want this gun in .38 and would like to carry it concealed either IWB or pocket.
357 is always a better choice I sold my S&W in 38 special a few months ago after watching your video I know what I'll be buying next, nice info thanks
@mememojo I don't thing so bro! Those .357 rds. come out at high vel. I'm not an expert so I can't say for sure. Do this shoot a .357 and the 9mm out of a similar sized barrel gun if you can and compare. I would do it, but this is my only .357. I have at this time.
@mememojo according to ballisticsbytheinch 125gr 357 out of a 2 inch barrel averaged 953.5 fps with the 4 loads they tested. The 124 gr 9mm out of a 3 inch barrel averaged 1048 fps out of the 2 loads tested. If you include the 125gr 9mm load they tested that goes up to 1088.67 fps. Take it for what it's worth. When you compare 3 inch barrels to 3 inch barrels the .357 wins.
nice review brother, i carry a 3" gp100 as my primary ccw and was thinking of picking this up as a BUG, all these reviews basically sealed the deal for me. gotta go out and see if a range by me rents one.
thanks for taking the time out to make a video on what you think of it!
@TheTriplets8x22x88 Right! See if they can call you when the have one in. Also try gunbroker com online, or gallery of guns online where I bought this one for $475 out the door... They have tons of them and the transfer is very simple. Love this revolver man, shoot it every month... Good luck.
I appreciate your kind response to my comment about the frame material. I totally agree with you about the ability to use two different rounds in this pistol. There are many very potent .38 special rounds that make using full power 357 mags not really all that necessary. Plus the extra muzzle blast and recoil can make repeat shots more difficult.Once again you did an excellent review on this Ruger and I would like to get one just like yours in .357 mag.
@BRR Comments like that are the reason I started, and keep posting vids... Thanks man. You should get one. Out of all my guns, this one is top five easy! I shoot it no less than twice a month because it is so fun. You are dead on about the ammo comment man... Thanks and take care youtube friend.
@sfvirgo Nice! I get to find out in 3 weeks... My buddy in CA. just bought an SR9c with stainless slide, and he needs me to teach him how to shoot! I can't wait because I have heard the same thing! Thanks man.
Nice video and a very nice pistol. One thing though, not to be a wise guy but you made one error, the frame on this .357 magnum model is made from stainless steel , not aluminum like the .38 special +P model. The grip frame is polymer just like the .38 special model Good luck with your new revolver.
@BRR Right I made that change 6 months ago after I made the vid. sometimes if the site is having issues, the note does not show up. You had me worried for a min. hahaha! But the note is still there with the right changes. Check it out again and FF to 7:15 min. Thanks, and Thanks for the sub.
@freeheretic111 Right! I have medium hands too! I found the same thing. The guys who say shooting 357 is easy are being less than honest. It is a beast with 357 loads trust me... The trade of is if you don't like the feel of the 357 no big. You can shoot .38sp and always have the option... It's a win win situation for sure. Plus I only shoot 4 38sp and 1 357 load in the chamber each time. That way you only have 1 357 to get ready for lol! Get one, it's worth :).
yeah that post was only made because you said the 38 special is in between a 380 and a 9mm in terms of power when actually the 38 has the same amount of power as a 380.
@tubevideoguy762 It was stated because most 380 is 88-95 gr and most reg. 9mm is 115 to 124 gr +P 380 95 + on avg. and 9mm +p is 124 to 147! There are hundreds of brands or ammo on the market that we can go back and forth on. In my opinion, and it just "my opinion" from owning 1 .380, 2 38sp/ 357, and 4 9mm's and shooting the hell out of them. I feel 38 sp. is in between .380 and 9MM since the .380 is a cut down 9MM round. Plus the 38sp. rounds I shoot have way more punch than my .380 rounds.
@tubevideoguy762 My 38sp standard rounds on avg. are 125 gr. and I have several dif. brands. So not sure what kind of 38 sp. standard ammo you are ref. too as being equal to standard 95 gr. .380, which I have several brands of that as well? I also have shot many different kinds for both .380 and 38sp. and those are just my avgs. But, in some cases depending on the brand of ammo you might be right, no big.
right 125 grains is average but true hitting power is stated as the number of foot pounds of kinetic energy and that's why ammo makers will often times determine that number. the 380 fires it's 95 grain bullet at around 970 feet per second the 125 grain 38 only moves 845 feet per second. the 380s speed makes up for it's lack of size. if you run both of those numbers they'll each equal 198 foot pounds of kinetic energy meaning in terms of power they're tied.
lol my bad if i sounded a bit like a physics major but i've always been a little dumbfounded when people look at the length of a bullet to determine how powerful it is instead of how it performs. I've just subscribed to your channel do you have any 380 acp videos by any chance?
@tubevideoguy762 Thanks! I know that there is science in determining stopping power by analyzing a rounds velocity, and energy. Measuring the gr in a bullet does not do that alone. I have not become that familiar with the psychics of ammo yet, that is next. At this point I just Analise gr vs gr in a particular sized like 9mm and the feel of different brands of ammo. They are all not the same even if the say 115 gr. Example 115 Winchester feels more powerful than 115 Federal!
@tubevideoguy762 I do have a Ruger LCP 380 vid. No psychics or ammo ballistics though lol!
You have some pretty good knowledge of ammo man. You should do some vids. to helps other like me out. That is how I learned about every single gun and knife I have, as well as accessories on youtube... I love youtube!
The kick and percussion feeling that you mentioned reminded me of when I shot my Ruger Bisley 41mag at an indoor range. The recoil and percussion were incredible, it felt like a punch to the face. But when I fired it outdoors the recoil was much lighter, and the percussion was non-existent. I've always wondered about that. I'd bet your Ruger 357 LCR, while it wouldn't be a powder puff.....LOL, it would probably be easier to handle at an outdoor range.
@SavedByGraceMan You are dead on! I took several guns to the range last week to get the most out of the hourly range fee. My LCR 357 mag. was one of them . I did not feel the percussion waves this time. As you said they where non-existent because they spread outward, with no walls to bounce off of lol! Now the feeling of being hit in the web of your hand with a baseball bat shooting 357 loads, that still exists hahaha! Still love this little revolver, great purchase for me! Thanks again...
@OldDood I agree... I do carry 4 Win. Elite bonded .38spl. +P and 1 Rem. JHP .357 mag. as the last round. I also have an extra Bianchi carry strip all .38sp. +P! My LCR is 100% so far. Love that SP101 as well... I shot one in 1991 after they first came out, loved it... May have to add one to the wish list. Thanks OldDood!
beast with .357mag is right man...i love the lcr though...it will make ur hand sore after about 10rnds of .357mag and recoil sucks a lil with .357 or so i thought
@86turkishman Yes she kicks like a mule with .357 loads but boy isn't it fun! I saw another reviewers vid. who said it feels like being hit in the web of your hand with a baseball bat and he was right! I now go to the range and shoot a box of 50 .38sp and only 10 .357 rounds max, and I'm good hahaha! Thanks bro.
@86turkishman The .38spl+p which I have shot as well using 'win. white box JHP 125 gr., are a little stronger than .38sp, but no where near the .357 mag... If you have the chance to rent one and see for yourself at a local range, go for man!
@GUNQUEST21 i just bought som .38 and .38+p and i have 10 .357 mag left so yeah ima try it as soon as my other 3 speedloaders get here in dat mail...i even bought some hornady .357 mag jhp/xtp for ccw as well
@86turkishman Cool, I carry mine loaded with 4 Win. Elite bonded .38spl. +p's and 1 rem. .357 mag. JHP. I also carry a speed loader with all Win. .38spl. +p's...
@GUNQUEST21 I have an lcr 357 already lol somebody on one of these lcr vids i watched told me he bet i could be accurate with it loaded with .357...lol i have targets that prove otherwise...he must have been a dumbass
@86turkishman Right or he does not really have one! I can barely find the hold in the target after I shoot the .357 load... The .38spl. rounds hits where ever I aim them!
Google CCI shotshells 38 357!! You can load them in your revolver and they'll shoot all day, one round in the chamber of a semi-auto as well but that's it because they don't cycle well. Buy a box and take it to the range and see what it does to paper, not deadly probably to humans but guaranteed to do damage even if you don't line up your sights for the first couple of rounds. Then like I said, hollow points from there when your wide awake and focused : ) Then there's the Judge (Taurus) and The
Actually what I meant was a snake-shot or bird-shot round for your revolver : ) but yes I think pump shotgun is the very best home defense weapon assuming you can get to it
@str8shoot Wow! I have never heard of that for a ruger... I know they make shot-shell rounds for Taurus Judge models but not ruger .38sp and .357! What brand and round do they come in? I want to try them out Thanks...
Great review man, thanks!! Something y'all might consider in your carry/home defense guns is a round or two of shot-shell. In a high stress situation it can be very effective. By the time you fire off a couple of rounds of that you're certainly alert and focused for the next few of defensive hollow points. They'll give you a wider pattern
@str8shoot I agree with you for sure! I have been looking into a Rem. or Mossberg pistol grip shot gun for that very reason. I have one on my list... Thanks man!
The LCR is not a pistol. It's a revolver. Sorry dude, I'm sure it's unintentional but it is annoying when you you keep referring to your sweet new revolver as a pistol. That's basic firearms knowledge. Otherwise cool vid.
@bobbeedigi I know technically it's a revolver, but it is a pistol as well... Start posting some vids. of your "pistol" or revolver collection if you have any, and educate all of us some more please expert!
@GUNQUEST21 Wow you are such an expert "DUDE"... Let me give you the true definition of a pistol that has been past down for hundreds of years, in the form of many "pistol" style firearms. "A pistol is a firearm designed to be held and fired with one hand. tr.v. pis·toled, pis·tol· ing, pis·tols". Not shocking you would post something stupid like that since you do not have one single posted vid. of anything, let alone a"PISTOL" review of your own. Basic firearms knowledge, your a joke!
@GUNQUEST21 As an FFL, when I sell a firearm the transferee and I have to fill out an ATF Form 4473. Section D, question 29 asks, "Type(pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, receiver, frame, etc.)". Why is that? It's because pistols and revolvers are two different types of handguns and the terms are not interchangeable. You're right, I haven't posted any videos and I don't claim to know everything about guns, but I know plenty and I'm right about this. I don't know why you are getting upset.
@bobbeedigi I'm not mad because I agree with you, it is technically a revolver. I will pay more attn. to my gun purchases in the future. I have never had to check that box you are talking about, but I am sure the FFL's selling me my guns do it for me when I buy my guns. It only takes 10 mins. in my state to buy guns with a CCW, so I never noticed lol! Thanks for the the great responses. I am not an expert just here showing off my guns... PS you are an FFL awesome. I want to be one some day!
@23mrcowboys yes it's smooth like butter lol! i have trouble staging the double action trigger some times because it's so smooth... i love to shoot this pistol! if you can try to get the .357 it's another level... thanks for the comment!
I found one for $464.00, WHAT A GREAT GUN. Shot the .357 LCR today and it shoots .38 +p like a dream. Shooting .357 rocks your hand a bit but is very manageable. I pocket carry this walking the neighborhood or running to the cornerstore.
@teammazza Yes sirrrrrr! Nice price about the same as my deal $475.00 out the door and worth it! Right, you can shoot .38+P until your broke, smooth ride! But the .357, wow..... Ten rounds each trip and I'm done with them for the day lol! Love this pistol too bro. Thanks and take care!
@teammazza Yes sir.... I agree 100% man! It's and awesome light, cheap, but well made .357 mag for under $500.00... I just ordered a Kholster for it today :).
Get one if you can find one under $475 total like I did... You will love it! Thanks for the feedback.
**meant to say over .38 spl. Bc like you said you get two for the price of one. But if you choose to only have a .38 spl you def. cannot run .357mag through it. Nice review too man!
@Downtoearth316 I have put about 250 rounds of .38 sp through it and 50 .357 mag with no issues. I agree with you and I am glad I waited to get the .357 over the .38 sp. I love this pistol and can't wait to see how it holds up over time. I have not heard of any recall issues or problems from anyone yet on forums... If you can find one for a good price man, go for it! Thanks for the feedback and take care...
@The206city Thanks! I do not know much about Taurus revolvers... But I do like that Judge line! I may have to look into the Ultra Lite as a future purchase myself. If you get one, post a vid. so I can check it out.
Yea i bought the fobus ankle holster from cheaperthandirt and it's really nice...very concealable..i am a big fan on inside the pants holsters..and often have a hard time deciding to carry my lcr or glock 17

I just purchased one of these in .357 myself.
My SP101SS .357 is still my main carry piece but, I wanted something smaller and can be carried in a pocket.
So I went for the LCR .357. I will not be using .357 rounds though with the LCR.
I wanted something with the stronger frame that I know will handle the .38 Specials and +P's.
I am not fully comfortable with Polymer Firearms at all.
38 Special +P's should be enough for personal protection.
Much more then lets say a 380 or even a 9mm.

@str8shoot NIce! I will search for those shells... Gotta try them out thanks man!
GUNQUEST21 9 months ago
@str8shoot Found them, they work great in my LCR revolver, not so great in a semi-auto! Thanks man!
GUNQUEST21 8 months ago
Actually what I meant was a snake-shot or bird-shot round for your revolver : ) but yes I think pump shotgun is the very best home defense weapon assuming you can get to it
str8shoot 9 months ago
@str8shoot Wow! I have never heard of that for a ruger... I know they make shot-shell rounds for Taurus Judge models but not ruger .38sp and .357! What brand and round do they come in? I want to try them out Thanks...
GUNQUEST21 9 months ago
Great review man, thanks!! Something y'all might consider in your carry/home defense guns is a round or two of shot-shell. In a high stress situation it can be very effective. By the time you fire off a couple of rounds of that you're certainly alert and focused for the next few of defensive hollow points. They'll give you a wider pattern
str8shoot 9 months ago
@str8shoot I agree with you for sure! I have been looking into a Rem. or Mossberg pistol grip shot gun for that very reason. I have one on my list... Thanks man!

The LCR is not a pistol. It's a revolver. Sorry dude, I'm sure it's unintentional but it is annoying when you you keep referring to your sweet new revolver as a pistol. That's basic firearms knowledge. Otherwise cool vid.
bobbeedigi 10 months ago
@bobbeedigi I know technically it's a revolver, but it is a pistol as well... Start posting some vids. of your "pistol" or revolver collection if you have any, and educate all of us some more please expert!
GUNQUEST21 10 months ago

I don't know why you are getting upset.
bobbeedigi 7 months ago
@bobbeedigi I'm not mad because I agree with you, it is technically a revolver. I will pay more attn. to my gun purchases in the future. I have never had to check that box you are talking about, but I am sure the FFL's selling me my guns do it for me when I buy my guns. It only takes 10 mins. in my state to buy guns with a CCW, so I never noticed lol! Thanks for the the great responses. I am not an expert just here showing off my guns... PS you are an FFL awesome. I want to be one some day!

23mrcowboys 10 months ago
@23mrcowboys yes it's smooth like butter lol! i have trouble staging the double action trigger some times because it's so smooth... i love to shoot this pistol! if you can try to get the .357 it's another level... thanks for the comment!
GUNQUEST21 10 months ago
I found one for $464.00, WHAT A GREAT GUN. Shot the .357 LCR today and it shoots .38 +p like a dream. Shooting .357 rocks your hand a bit but is very manageable. I pocket carry this walking the neighborhood or running to the cornerstore.
teammazza 10 months ago
@teammazza Yes sirrrrrr! Nice price about the same as my deal $475.00 out the door and worth it! Right, you can shoot .38+P until your broke, smooth ride! But the .357, wow..... Ten rounds each trip and I'm done with them for the day lol! Love this pistol too bro. Thanks and take care!
GUNQUEST21 10 months ago
I getting one of these and it seems like the gun that will make revolvers popular for CCW again. I can't wait to shoot it.
teammazza 11 months ago
@teammazza Yes sir.... I agree 100% man! It's and awesome light, cheap, but well made .357 mag for under $500.00... I just ordered a Kholster for it today :).
Get one if you can find one under $475 total like I did... You will love it! Thanks for the feedback.
GUNQUEST21 11 months ago
**meant to say over .38 spl. Bc like you said you get two for the price of one. But if you choose to only have a .38 spl you def. cannot run .357mag through it. Nice review too man!
Downtoearth316 11 months ago
@Downtoearth316 I have put about 250 rounds of .38 sp through it and 50 .357 mag with no issues. I agree with you and I am glad I waited to get the .357 over the .38 sp. I love this pistol and can't wait to see how it holds up over time. I have not heard of any recall issues or problems from anyone yet on forums... If you can find one for a good price man, go for it! Thanks for the feedback and take care...
GUNQUEST21 11 months ago
I kinda want one of these man. How has it held up so far? I really prefer .357 or .38 special.

The206city 1 year ago
@The206city Thanks! I do not know much about Taurus revolvers... But I do like that Judge line! I may have to look into the Ultra Lite as a future purchase myself. If you get one, post a vid. so I can check it out.
Take care and Thanks for the positive feedback!
