please reply, heyy, i got a 2001 jetta 1.8t wolfburg edition, umm its my first car, and i'm looking for things i could put on the car to make it cooler :P or more personalized any hints or ideas, btw what rims are those and roughly how much did you get them for?
i have one like this my is silver my still all stock and have a lot off power and is a very nice car i just bought about four months ago with 87k miles i was thinking in put some upgrades but after i drove i fill like the car has a lot off power without any upgrade and this way save me gas and is not loud so i will keep stock because this way i can drive fust whitout the cops stop me just because me car is to loud but i love the loud cars like this i love this jetta's 1.8 turbo.
man i dont really know nothing about these cars i just got my vw jetta 2002 1.8t 2mtns ago im lookin into upgrade the turbo with the bolt on i guess something that would push good HP with out having to do any major upgrade can u guys help me out with what kind of turbo should i get ane what upgrades do i need? is a intercooler recommended for colder air to the turbo?
@RPO03 IMO, 1.8T is where it's at... with gas prices being as high as they are, you'll save a lot of money with the 1.8T, while still having great performance. The VR6 has a slight horsepower improvement but in my opinion it doesn't make up for the fuel consumption. I have a 2002 Jetta 1.8T and it's possibly one of the best all around engines I've ever driven.
lmao i love how he uses the blinkers. how nice of u. yeahh i just got a vw jetta 2000 automatic 2.0. it picks up pretty good. but nothing compared to a 1.8t manual.
u did not pull a charger on stock tune if that what ur saying, no way in fukin hell, i would ever believe that its 160Hp diffrence stock i own a 1.8t with full bolt on except tune, and i wont come near a charger witout it
Hi I'm in high school and I have a jetta 1.8t with an apr 93 chip... I'm goin to race this nigger with a charger 3.5l.. He thinks my car is a shitty economy car. I really want to smoke this dude. I was wondering... When I am going to to a "drag" race with him, should I turn the ESP off? Thanks
No, judging by your lack of knowledge to the entire field of cars and racing no i dont think you should. Your car should def beat a v6 charger. when i was on stock tune i raced a charger v8 (not srt-8) with catback and k&n and pulled about 2 cars.
I have a Jetta 1.8T & I live in GA, i've only used the Tiptronic mode a few times, but it is faster than the full auto mode because if your a gearhead like me & kno the right amount of RPMs needed to shift you will go much faster than in full auto mode because there is a lil lag in full auto mode while in Tiptronic u have somewat full control & can upshift or dwnshift, basically know the amount of RPMs & get the timing right & you'll be faster than in full auto mode.
@burtonbluntrider21 According to a authorize VW technician its a common problem for jettas. It is very sensitive i went to many dealers thats just charged me for little fixes and then reset the computer then a few weeks later it comes back. fed up i went to a authorize vw technician(not mechanic) paid about 550 bucks but worth it never had the light since.
first intake(Injen, AEM, or K+N) short ram or full cold air for about 6-10HP
Turbo-Back exhuast( full 3" from the turbo all the way back is best) 30-35HP gain
APR 93 Octane ECU programming- 50 HP gain
Therefore for around less than 2,000 you can get these up to around 275HP without messing around with bigger intercoolers, Fuel pumps, Headers, and that bullshit
Uh actually dont go with a 3" turbo-back unless you upgrade to at LEAST a K04..... you actually lose 11 horsepower I know from experience and I have dyno numbers to prove it.... gains from a 2.5 inch turboback are 13 horse power and 20 ft lbs..
And Intake doesn't add that much peak HP, just helps your tiny turbo spool almost instantly giving more power low in the powerband.
Very Nice car. I wanna get a one of these 1.8T. Im looking fot 2004-2005 but I've heard from a couple of persons that you can have all or nothing of these cars. Like my friend got one and theres always something broken (and its not like he drives crazy) . But again i know someone who has one and 400k on it and never had a problem....
Mine is custom. I got the Ebay 3" downpipe and that leads to my cat, which has been custom cut to 2.5" in and out to a custom 2.5" catback with no resonator or muffler.
The more I have it, the more I want to quiet it up alot, but I am also married and 27 years old.
im getting a 2004 jetta 1.8T, i wanna put a nice exhaust on it and i LOVE yours! what type of exhaust did u put on it and any other mods? thanks. dieter
Cold Air Intake is part of the intake. Its what sucks the air from outside into your turbo. Its just a modification you can add to your car for a cool sound and arguably a few more horsepower.
The AC problem could be a number of things. I would take it to a mechanic to have it diagnosed. It should be free or close to free to have it diagnosed. Hope that helps.
OH..and if your stock, you wouldn't have a chance against me. And DON'T DO BURNOUTS! It does nothing but ruin your car
Hey but just a ?? because I am soooo curious lol ... how do I do a burnout?! And what is a cold air intake? Is that for the AC to blow colder air? My AC stopped working and in FL thats BAAAD! I dont think its the radiator though because all seems to be good....may just need freon? And if so where do I pour that?! Sorry if you dont know this :) Thanks for your assistance though!
lol no mods it came from the factory the way i have it now :) I am a girl and dont know much about cars lol. It is a VRS GLS automatic BUT i can go pretty fast :-}

I have a question about a2003 jetta 1.8t that I bought last week. I was wondering if the tiptronic mode was faster than the full auto mode?
nickm456123 2 years ago
@nickm456123 Yes it is faster according to other people who have a jetta 1.8t, i just never got to try it out because i live in the NYC.

First its impossible to get 275 whp with a K03S turbo unless you want it for a few few miles. And for turbos are downpipes no headers.

If you have an automatic, its really hard to do a burnout unless you have a ton of horsepower. You could try using the handbrake.
