I'm a Malaysian, but I have to admit, Singapore is becoming way way modern than us. Wow, I watched the race and it was EPIC! Well, Singapore is my second home as I have relatives here. So I'm proud of its achievement.
Why are the comments offending each other's nationalities?
it is not for us to judge or call another's nationality civilised or uncivilised. By calling someone else uncivilised, doesn't that make you the one who is uncivilised?
Lets just all put away these rude comments and enjoy the grand prix races, because we are all human. Whatever is your language, or origin, we are all still humans, that doesn't make anyone superior to another.
KingxXxJamez..and all haters..You racist creeps can comment hate msgs about singapore all you want. U just make yourself and your countrymen look bad..And thats your loss. Not ours.=P

And although many singaporeans may look chinese but our mandarin simply are not so good. we may look chinese but our 1st language is english. So stop comparing us with the china people, we are not them. thay have so many bad habits like taking seats without asking if the seat is taken, dirty the enviroment, talk loudly and their accent simply sux. not many singaporeans like china people.
Look like Chinese make u feel awful? Well, that's right. But how can you say Chinese like that?
U probably havent been in China once.
Come here and you will find u made a huge mistake. Yes, China is still only a developing country, but we held a successful Olympic!Did ur country ever hold a big events like this?
We Singaporean Chinese don't feel awful of looking like Chinese. It is a fact that the Chinese Nationals are misbehaving in Singapore, no one can deny that. I have been to China and will probably not going back anymore. While I agree that Chinese has held a successful Olympic Games but there are so many negative news poping out. The Singapore F1 has received 99.9% positive ratings, what about China's Olympics? Maybe 70%. We are hosting the YOG in 2011 and perhaps Olympics itself soon.
As a singaporean, i have to say that Olympics cannot be hosted here, no land space, and many other reasons. It is still possible to host it, only that we will become a laughing stock.
Don't worry, bro. We already have the foundation laid down. But we seriously lack of experience to host the formal Olympics. That's why the YOG is a good way to start. The new Kallang Stadium is said to possess the caliber to host the Olympics.
Milk...OK, as a chinese I was ashamed of that stupid event, but there is a chinese saying : fall into a pit,a gain in your wit. Now goverment pay more attention to the food quality.
Ya. Pay more attention to the food quality. Remember there is a toy poisonous event in china. the lead? How much did the govt of china done? All i see is they are trying to cover it up. With incidents like this, china has to move towards democracy. they need more freedoms of speech and not the govt ask them to shut up.
First of all, I'd like to point out that I AM A CHINESE, so u can use YOU not THEY. Second, as a Chinese citizen, I dont think our gov tried to cover this case, ever and some Government officials resigned because of this. u cannot understand the whole case cause u are not a Chinese.
If u want to know more about China u can e-mail me, and i will be glad to tell u what is CHINA like. But, if u wanna talk about "human rights" or something like that, come on, I am not interested in it.
if it is easier to do business in india, china economy will be in trouble because of so many incidents. many people will prefer to buy indian products if it as cheap as china. people will only buy china products because its cheaper. i juz hate the china people for having such a bad attitude even in MY COUNTRY. they think they own the country so they can juz snatch the seat they want without asking politely? this is not china.
Plz dont use "IF", "IF" doesnt mean anything. I suggest that u should talk to them, OK? I am only a ordinary Chinese citizen who stay in my own country, and I dont have the responsibility to tell them or to pay for their bad attitudes. Just do it!
Your claim that "our 1st language is english" is a little dubious.I know three Singaporean students studying at Oxford and each of them speaks near perfect English but sometimes their grammar lets them down. Also, their accent is sometimes, just sometimes, difficult for me to understand.Admittedly,Sporean English is probably way superior to English spoken by non-native English speakers from most other countries, but I'd doubt that Sporeans can consider Englsih as their "1st language."
English is taught as a first language in Singapore's national schools, while the mother tongue language is taught as a second language. Three Singaporeans who fail to speak perfect Queens English doesn't negate this fact. Well only a twerp would conclude that Americans can't write proper English based on the quality of your comments. ;)
Quite so.Looking back at my comment,I think you may be right, three swallows don't make a summer. And BTW,Chinese are not the only ones who like to spit (if that is factually true.) Some of the biggest spitters in the world are the Finns, and that is a provable fact.
It is perfectly correct to acknowledge the Chinese roots of Chinese Singaporeans, but to then label Mainland Chinese as such is simply not polite and is distastefully discriminatory. For every loud-mouthed, spitting Chinese, I can find another soft-spoken, civic-minded Chinese. You just need to look in the right places, but do not dismiss over a billion people from such a small sampling size.

Tiny Singapore is rather a strange place to hold a Grand Prix.Watching Nelson Piquet crashing into the barrier makes me wonder how long it will be before something nastier happens. And watching Felipe Massa leave the pit with the fuel hose still attached to his car (ripping off the hose) was just a farce.
This isn't racing as it was intended by the founders of the Grand Prix. This is like super fast cars racing in a cage, and that surely has "danger" written all over it.
Welcome to the modern world, mate, where money talks. It is apparent from the global media that there is practically universal agreement that the decision to host this night race in Singapore has been a sound one for the future of the sport. Cheers to everyone who made it to the tracks...the atmosphere was terrific!
who says just because Singapore is 'tiny' so we cant hold the Grand Prix? look, now that its over, it totally proves that we are just as capable as any other country to host it.
Name me a place where a Grand Prix hosted ZERO casualties. Formula One is about fast cars. You'd be naive to think accidents never happen. That's the excitement of all car races, the adrenaline rush knowing that you might crash and trying your best to not do that. Where's the fun in knowing that everything would be smooth sailing in MotoGP or F1?
Christ, novocaine, you sound as if you've got a death wish.Danger excites you?? All I'm saying is that the cars in Spore raced in what looked like a cage. There was no space,no leeway for mistakes, and you can't overtake. That is totally different from Nurburgring (if that's how it's spelt.)And different even from your northern neighbour. And what about the average Sporean who want to go about their business but can't because the roads are closed off?
Nope I don't wish for people to die. But honestly, who watches F1 knowing everything will be smooth sailing with no accidents? I'm not saying accidents resulting in death but just that risk factor (Nelson Piquet didn't die did he? So where's that assumption that I wish him dead? In fact he was thoroughly fine)
And with events like these, there're always thing like cordoning the streets and it's just the business district AT NIGHT. Very little ppl are affected
I never said you wished Piquet dead!! And BTW, I didn't know that the race took place only within the business district (you folks call it the CBD,right?),I thought it was a "pan Singaporean" event.Oops, shows my lack of F1 knowledge.
Basically you're making nonsensical points which other countries have to face to, constantly. And btw, this is planned out BY F1 it's an international team. Singapore was nothing but just a venue. They weren't the ones thinking up the idea. So think about it.
If you have the cash to sit in the grandstand and you find no cage between you and the cars whizzing by you closer than in most other circuits, I am no longer surprised that you demand an accident-free event! :D
I don't care much for F1,so I've never sat in the grandstand or anywhere else on the cicuit for that matter. But it's funny what you say:you seem to be saying that there're Sporeans who are unable to afford grandstand seats. You folks are rich, aren't you? The rest of the world is gripped with a credit crisis but Spore is sailing along smoothly. Singaporean sovreign debt, denominated in SGD,is one of the safest investments on the planet.I find it difficult to believe that Sporeans are hard up.
not all singaporeans are rich fyi.its a rich and prosperous country, but it doesn't apply to the people here.not bringing down singapore's name or what,i am a singaporean myself.just pinning my thoughts, thats all.
i agreed not all singaporeans are rich . 2 days ago i watch the tv reporter talkin about f1 in the streets call orchard and none of them know a single thing about f1 lmao
Most non-Europeans doesn't care about F1 either, as do many Europeans themselves. Does that make them all poor? I quote the PM of Singapore: "Ive been watching it on TV the last couple of nights, not watching the cars, but watching the skyline, to see whether the skyline shows up and we see Singapore showing off its best". I suppose the Singapore PM is poor as well for not caring or knowing much about F1 either?
you die first..jealous much? why isn't japan having a night race..cause no one wants to have it there..we hate dolphin abusers..why dun u just take a hike and eat your sushi..
oooppppssssie...really sorry kingjames..the comment made before this is not from me..my cousin used my account to make that comment..he ran away after i caught him..ignore the comment thks.
Prior to reaching the track I saw numerous scenes of people caught off-guard by the noise and trying to sneak a peak through every conceivable gap. This actually warms my heart, for this is crucial publicity for the current generation and next.
Red cars will allways be in the lead mate. Other teams just imitate them, or try to cheat and get banned for that from time to time. In that sport rules do exist and its great that FIA implements them. SCUDERIA FERRARI SUPERIORE!!!
ouh man!!!! tis gonna be exciting!!! cant wait for race day and im proud to be a singaporean...haha wat a history in the makin for singapore and as well as F1....whoever win tis crucial race must really be a gd racer

This race is not bad... I would remind everyone that it is a " street " circuit. i.e. Monaco. Is it dangerous? Of course. Hey, let the boys earn their pay. Most of us make a fraction of their salaries and I for one want to see all the Teams pushing it. To the limit.
Here's to Fortress Singapore.

This is like super fast cars racing in a cage, and that surely has "danger" written all over it.
jamessmedley82 3 years ago
Welcome to the modern world, mate, where money talks. It is apparent from the global media that there is practically universal agreement that the decision to host this night race in Singapore has been a sound one for the future of the sport. Cheers to everyone who made it to the tracks...the atmosphere was terrific!
huaiwei 3 years ago 2
who says just because Singapore is 'tiny' so we cant hold the Grand Prix? look, now that its over, it totally proves that we are just as capable as any other country to host it.
Calipso14 3 years ago
Name me a place where a Grand Prix hosted ZERO casualties. Formula One is about fast cars. You'd be naive to think accidents never happen. That's the excitement of all car races, the adrenaline rush knowing that you might crash and trying your best to not do that. Where's the fun in knowing that everything would be smooth sailing in MotoGP or F1?
novacaineforthesoul 3 years ago
Christ, novocaine, you sound as if you've got a death wish.Danger excites you?? All I'm saying is that the cars in Spore raced in what looked like a cage. There was no space,no leeway for mistakes, and you can't overtake. That is totally different from Nurburgring (if that's how it's spelt.)And different even from your northern neighbour. And what about the average Sporean who want to go about their business but can't because the roads are closed off?
jamessmedley82 3 years ago
Nope I don't wish for people to die. But honestly, who watches F1 knowing everything will be smooth sailing with no accidents? I'm not saying accidents resulting in death but just that risk factor (Nelson Piquet didn't die did he? So where's that assumption that I wish him dead? In fact he was thoroughly fine)
And with events like these, there're always thing like cordoning the streets and it's just the business district AT NIGHT. Very little ppl are affected
novacaineforthesoul 3 years ago
I never said you wished Piquet dead!! And BTW, I didn't know that the race took place only within the business district (you folks call it the CBD,right?),I thought it was a "pan Singaporean" event.Oops, shows my lack of F1 knowledge.
jamessmedley82 3 years ago
Basically you're making nonsensical points which other countries have to face to, constantly. And btw, this is planned out BY F1 it's an international team. Singapore was nothing but just a venue. They weren't the ones thinking up the idea. So think about it.
novacaineforthesoul 3 years ago
If you have the cash to sit in the grandstand and you find no cage between you and the cars whizzing by you closer than in most other circuits, I am no longer surprised that you demand an accident-free event! :D
huaiwei 3 years ago
I don't care much for F1,so I've never sat in the grandstand or anywhere else on the cicuit for that matter. But it's funny what you say:you seem to be saying that there're Sporeans who are unable to afford grandstand seats. You folks are rich, aren't you? The rest of the world is gripped with a credit crisis but Spore is sailing along smoothly. Singaporean sovreign debt, denominated in SGD,is one of the safest investments on the planet.I find it difficult to believe that Sporeans are hard up.
jamessmedley82 3 years ago 3
You have clearly misunderstood,
jamessmedley82. My comment was clearly not referring to Singaporeans in general, but on your paranoia over the "caged" race it was.
huaiwei 3 years ago
not all singaporeans are rich fyi.its a rich and prosperous country, but it doesn't apply to the people here.not bringing down singapore's name or what,i am a singaporean myself.just pinning my thoughts, thats all.
Wonderwaller0305 3 years ago
i agreed not all singaporeans are rich . 2 days ago i watch the tv reporter talkin about f1 in the streets call orchard and none of them know a single thing about f1 lmao
KingxXxJamez 3 years ago
jamessmedley82 i agreed with ur comment :)
65% who watch the f1 race is mostly foreigner . Prove that singaporeans doesnt care about f1 and ther villigish make them look bad :(
KingxXxJamez 3 years ago
Most non-Europeans doesn't care about F1 either, as do many Europeans themselves. Does that make them all poor? I quote the PM of Singapore: "Ive been watching it on TV the last couple of nights, not watching the cars, but watching the skyline, to see whether the skyline shows up and we see Singapore showing off its best". I suppose the Singapore PM is poor as well for not caring or knowing much about F1 either?

KingxXxJamez 3 years ago
Sold out to whom? So it is an issue of tickets being sold out or people being disinterested? Make up your mind kid.

today went past marina bay, caught in a traffic jam for and hour because of people slowing down to see the trial run.
IzAAcFinz 3 years ago
Prior to reaching the track I saw numerous scenes of people caught off-guard by the noise and trying to sneak a peak through every conceivable gap. This actually warms my heart, for this is crucial publicity for the current generation and next.

cant wait for it !!!!
saw the circuit yesterday, while some were doing test drives !!! Nice !!!!

Looks like some kinda movie set for James Bond or FIA guy saying CUT...CUT...the red cars are not leading.....restart the race!!!!
bigcliffe 3 years ago
Red cars will allways be in the lead mate. Other teams just imitate them, or try to cheat and get banned for that from time to time. In that sport rules do exist and its great that FIA implements them. SCUDERIA FERRARI SUPERIORE!!!

This is homo. F1 is homo racing. Their all understeer, real life is full of sharp turns, enough to kill f1 in those turns.

Has anyone thought, this is what Codemasters' F1 game could look like?
CashewBoyLiam 3 years ago 2
nope. The F1 game will be based on the GRID engine, which looks great but not quite that great ;)

It would be nice though :P looks a bit like GRID's lighting aswell, quite warm colours.
