by the looks of things...Ive stumbled upon this video a bit later than others lol....but finally someone who has the same hair as me! Ive never used any chemicals in my hair...and was brought up never to use any...but its so great to see someone with hair like me and just as much with some tips....Love from the UK !
I need advice!!! I'm a latina and I have many friends who are black and many of them ask me to thin out their beautiful afro curls with my Jaguar thinning scissors. However, I'm a bit afraid to mess it up. Any advice on how to cut it properly? Would appreciate some advice, chica! Gracias!
i have been natural since i was 8 yrs old lol my grandma relaxed it once when i was 7 but i didn't look after it properly so it went back to being afro. you've been natural for more than 3 yrs yet your hair is the same length as mine!! i must be doing something wrong lol
I just saw your videos today. I have terrible short hair. I have been in braids for several years now, and my edges are gone. I am completely natural now, but my hair STILL has stunted growth. 8 years and my hair is barely 2 inches. I relaxed it for 4 years and stopped when it damaged it, but my hair has not improved. For the longest time I thought it was genetic but I don't know anymore. Please let me know how I can be helped.
why african american girls pay so much attention to having "real hair" and transition from wigs to natural?. I dont mean to be intrusive, I just have being poundering about it. I am from a different country and im familiar with the african american culture, however, not so much when it comes to fashion and hair styles. I love african american culture, i find it very interesting. So im no hater ! just want to know.
@chepillinn For many African American women chemicals are introduced into our hair care regimine when we are young and we never learn how to take care of our natural texture of hair that tends to be thicker, kinkier and harder to comb and style then processed or chemically treated hair. Many suffer from breakage, shedding, thinning of their hair because of overprocessing..alot of women experience their natural hair as an adult for the first time when going natural .so thats why its a big deal :)
@PLTbyCormie that person still doesn't understand, so why bother explaining to them, people all around the damn world are obsessed with black americans.
why would i give a damn about what Irish women do with their hair when im a black woman. LOLOLOL
@pinkpostergirl It's no big deal for people to be curious about other cultures or lifestyles...I think i's good because it opens your eyes to how diverse the world is. =D
@jackalo34 these types of women are trying to learn style and culture from black women, to appeal to our men. These are the same type of women who will be trying to date black men. So why help them???
@pinkpostergirl 1st-may not even be a woman 2nd-knowing about our hair isn't gonna make much difference if u dont have out hair (as far as "appealing to our men" goes) and 3rd-its the 21st century and interracial dating is prevalent in many forms...there is no 'OUR' men Don't make it so personal. There are some people who could care less about black culture and would rather we don't exist...so i'll take sumone who wants to be well rounded any day.
@pinkpostergirl Well, I'm not single so it doesn't really concern me. Also, I'd be competing with women of other races no matter what lol and I don't date JUST black guys because I date based on personality not race. Culture exists no matter what and people becoming less and less PURE black as you'd say doesn't change that...culture is passed down through families sharing with each other and has 0 to do with whether or not I purely date black guys.
@pinkpostergirl Yea....your close-minded. There's a difference between "minding their own damn business" and being curious. Haven't you ever heard that the best way to learn is to ask questions? You're trying to go right back to when no one gave a crap about black people. Well, you can go alone. I can see that your issue lies deeper and what you say is def not the majority opinion.
@pinkpostergirl wow! I just read your other comments. I now see why your comments are ridiculous! Its because your a moron and a fucking racist!
The woman asked a very simple and respectful question and you bashed her!
Black hair is the most underrated hair type. Even us Blacks don't understand our own hair so how the hell do you expect people of other Ethnicity to understand it? I'm happy and proud that our hair is getting more attention. Finally us and them can see the beauty in it!
Wow! you are a fucking IDIOT yourself! I NEVER said I expect other ethnicity to understand black hair
I just have to laugh at your ugly ass calling me a racist
I don't mind people learning other cultures, but I mind people trying to copy our culture. If you think thats racist so be it.
Every1 wants to be blk but they don't want to be blk. They want big buts, lips, bronze skin and what next our hair. Don't worry they will find the beauty in blk hair as long as its on a nonblk
@pinkpostergirl I deleted all the stupid comments you posted on my videos...
You said you're married? I hope you and that poor blind bastard don't procreate, because people as stupid as you should not have children.
I'm not being mean or being a Youtube troll like you when I say that you're one of the dumbest people I've ever exchanged words with. Really, you are. Please don't have children...intellect or lack thereof passes from parent to child...
@pinkpostergirl your stupid comment pissed me the fuck off! This non-black woman was simply curious and asked a respectful question but you felt the need to offend her? You're such a jerk!
Hi,just watched your video and it's so great. I have been growing natural for five years now but it's not half the length of your hair. Please can u make a video of the various products you use on your hair to make it look that way?
Hi Cormie! Love all of your videos; you are my hair guru while I'm on my natural hair journey right now. I was just wondering, do you do anything in particular when you know you are going to go swimming?? Anything different before or after? Thanks :)
Thank you so much Cormie for showing the hair that was loss while detangling! So many videos on youtube dont discuss that and I was so paranoid when I did a comb-out on my hair. I was thinking that my comb would just pull through and there would be no loss. Duh!!! This is a learning process for me and I've really enjoyed your videos.
CORMIE i need ur help!!! im goin on a natural hair journey without havin the big chop but NOthing is working!!!!!! the only natural part of my hair is the roots! Im washing my hair three times a week and lettin it air dry but its still not growing! do u think that i should just where braids for a while! oh ya and im also relaxing it once a week do think that could be the problem also? PLEASE HELP ITS AN EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cormie! my hair is sooooooooooooooooo dry!!!!!!! so dry I had to cut 2 inches of broken dead brittle hair. I put olive oil in it daily! idk what to dooo please help!
@MixedMorenaLatina i think olive oil is too strong and thick a oil...i kno because i used it for a while and then had to stop because it became too much for my scalp =/....maybe u can use.....sweet almond oil, coconut oi, rosemary oil, tea tree oil, carrot oil, saffeflower oil or something else cuz i kno i had to stop using the olive oil even though it moisturized my scalp my hair felt disgusting.. so try a diff oil...hope this helped ...and get a good moistuizing hair (deep) conditioner
@Klayribel if she had a relaxer, her hair would look straight. Her hair is coarse like most black women's hair is naturally. I hope every black woman goes natural. It compliments and accentuates their features better because their overall appearance looks authentic and not like it's trying to conform to something else.
if you put your hair in pigtails and divide one of those pig tails in 3 sections thats about how much hair I have. I dont know how you deal with all that!?
woww..now thAt was BEAUTIFUL NaturaL Hair!! My hair is thick Like yours..but i cant wait till it gets 2 your Length! :) How do you trim your hAir when you dont put heat on it?
Nope Im noticing now that Ive been wearing my hair curly for the last few months that my ends look fine. Im not putting heat on my hair or and all the chemicals are out so the ends dont really split as much..the test will nbe when I straighten it..so Ill keep you posted..I will do a flat iron tutorial soon..thanks for watching!
@PLTbyCormie yea me too. i havent put heat on it for 2mnths now! im aiming till oct or nov. and i notice that my hair is getting thicker and Longer now! :) im soo proud of myseLf. but thanx ill check out that video soon.
I'm loving the hair! I hope to be there in a year or so...I love my natural hair and it is so fun caring for it...You and your hair are absolutely beautiful...HHG!
I'm one of your subscribers even though I'm not natural, I'm relaxed (don't kick me out!) LOL but your videos are very imformative and I think the tips that you give out can be used for both relaxed and natural sisters. Thanks have a great day!
Noooo..dont do it..if you can give it another yr.. tight now is when you want to cut your hair the most...trust i even bought a perm but my sister used it in her hair so i didnt do it..just give it atleast 2 years because you need about 10 inches of length to see you real texture and a glimpse of what you will be dealing with wearing your natural hair.. i wish you luck on your journey thanks for watching
@PLTbyCormie Could you elaborat on the 10 inches of growth to see your real texture. I'm about 5 inches of hair growth starting from a fad. I have 4a4b coils with a wawy pattern to it as well. Just curious because i have heard that with length comes a different look. Thanks Cormie.
@TexasMadeMadame when I was transitioning the first year.I hated it.because of the 2 different textures. really bushy edges.I could only wear my hair straight..when your hair is longer and natural it is heavier so the curl is pulled more taught because of gravity and the weight of the hair as the strands get longer the curl isnt as kinky once you have about 10 inches your style options change and your urges to change it w chemicals or weave change b/c you start to really enjoy your own hair.
@PLTbyCormie Well that's cool to know, right now it's still growing up and out but i'm still loving it. Having fun through this journey. Thanks for the response and videos to keep us all encouraged.Take care and see ya next vid.
@PLTbyCormie Interesting...I'm happy to hear this b/c I have 4 (yes, four) different textures on my head...the "kitchen" is a curly 3c...the middle/crown is 4b, the sides, temple to nape, are 4a (looks like the springs you find in a pen) & the front, center section refuses to curl!! Even with Kinky Curly, I can only get a slight wave in that area (no heat damage--NEVER flat ironed). I hope some of this changes with length (4 inches now.)
Keep living natural. Beautiful!
