Mileage? nope, their even on that. Towing, and payload? do your research, ford leads there. And it takes a much larger motor from chevy (6.2) to make more torque than fords 5.4. Cuz chevys 5.3, wich is dam near the same size makes no where near the pulling power the 5.4 does!

you can also run a new for off off e85 which also gives more hp and tq... putting your tq at 390.putting that out there before i forget.. anyway the new chevy 403 hp and 417 tq coming in at about 300 pounds lighter. and carries a max tow capacity of about 9500. with a weaker frame and suspension it doesnt take as much weight and its trans not being quite up with fords new 6 speed trans... now like i said the 0 to 60 is better
i will openly say that the 5.3 will even beat the 0 to 60 but when you have to go compare a 6.2 to a 5.4 to compete with the towing capacity. im talking 5.4 to 5.7

@454streetracer Right. All I'm trying to say here is that rear drum brakes are standard equippment on 2007 - current 1500 Chevrolet Silverado. Mine was the 2007 LTZ with rear drums. The Max Tow package gave 4-wheel disk. I'm quite sure that If you have a Chyenne buy 4-wheel disks.
the new 09 ford says 310 hp and 365 tq but with its 6 speed trans which is pretty much set up for pulling and its shift on the fly 4x4 its rated to pull 11,300 being more people pull with half tons now that can be a factor. it has a much stiffer yet lighter hydro formed frame and a much tighter suspension. it was voted motertrend truck of the year. being the heaviest half ton out there a hard winter isnt any trouble at all at 5919 lbs.

Mileage? nope, their even on that. Towing, and payload? do your research, ford leads there. And it takes a much larger motor from chevy (6.2) to make more torque than fords 5.4. Cuz chevys 5.3, wich is dam near the same size makes no where near the pulling power the 5.4 does!

you can also run a new for off off e85 which also gives more hp and tq... putting your tq at 390.putting that out there before i forget.. anyway the new chevy 403 hp and 417 tq coming in at about 300 pounds lighter. and carries a max tow capacity of about 9500. with a weaker frame and suspension it doesnt take as much weight and its trans not being quite up with fords new 6 speed trans... now like i said the 0 to 60 is better

@454streetracer Right. All I'm trying to say here is that rear drum brakes are standard equippment on 2007 - current 1500 Chevrolet Silverado. Mine was the 2007 LTZ with rear drums. The Max Tow package gave 4-wheel disk. I'm quite sure that If you have a Chyenne buy 4-wheel disks.

the new 09 ford says 310 hp and 365 tq but with its 6 speed trans which is pretty much set up for pulling and its shift on the fly 4x4 its rated to pull 11,300 being more people pull with half tons now that can be a factor. it has a much stiffer yet lighter hydro formed frame and a much tighter suspension. it was voted motertrend truck of the year. being the heaviest half ton out there a hard winter isnt any trouble at all at 5919 lbs.

chevy make a good all around truck... and dont get me wrong will pull what most people use their truck for but i think if you pull consistently and for distances i would go with a ford. where as if you want a 0 to 60 time get the chevy.... ill give you some numbers here in a minute but my point simply is what your using it for is something to take into consideration

xscape... im a ford guy anyway but take into consideration ive owned both chevy and dodge before i bought my first ford.. i would say it would really depend on what your looking for in your truck.... i have a ford 5.4 and have never had any tapping from the lifters or otherwise.. outside of i have a hole in my exhaust right now. but anyhow i never had any real problems with the chevy either outside of it just didnt have the towing ability of the 150.

Alright im looking for a truck either a 1500 Silverado or a Ford F150. I know you guys on here are diehard one or the other so before you get smart with your reply just think I want serious comparisons. I know the 5.4 Triton gets problems with weak lifters (causing the ticking) and Chevy's get coolant and electrical problems from my experiences. the 4.8 sucks. looking for something pretty new, 05 or newer, under 50,000 miles.what would be better? not opinion, give facts.
