This is still my favorite Disney movie of all time! I still watch it today, and I love this song. The scene that has the song always makes me sad :(. An absolutely beautiful song for a great movie!
finally! I found this song! I always sing it because i saw in when watching treasure planet but then when i went to find it i forgot what song it was i was singing *facepalm*
I think this is the first and best non-3D Disney animation movie ever made. Yet the songs are very encouraging, supportive, and lovable,as always in other of their(Disney) movie.
hey XDROP, just wanna express my feelings here. I'm one of those kids form the 90's, 95 to be exact, and it was the best time and childhood i've ever had. Such magical feelings can also be felt even by watching this movie but nowadays such times are VERY hard to find. Regardless of the fact that this vid may be one of many treasure planet videos(and other awesome disney movies), I just want to thank you because it reminds me of the best times i'll never forget as a kid back then. From MALAYSIA!!!
This song shows all of our lives inside. We always say that we dont care what people think about us, but in reality we do, its human nature for us to want to be like, to not be alone. But there is always someone out there who will accept you for who your are. This comment this to an old crush of mine who's father died a few days ago in an unfair way. I know you will probably never find this, but I'm praying for you and your family. I hope you hold on and realize that your still here.
I can relate to this song in so many ways. So many people in the world want me to change when in truth, they're always the ones that stay the same. I am changing, they just don't realize it. Everyone ignores me and tell me how to live my life. They think that just because I'm different, I'll never fit in or won't be recognized. They all act as though I'm invisible, but I'm still here...
This movie is fantastic, as is the sound track. In my opinion, this was one of the best movies they've ever pulled out. And FoXxToxic, yuh, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast and all them were also from famous fairy tales. It's what Disney does, and it's why I love it as a child.
a large problem they run into with classic literature is how it was originally written. they can't stay true to the original form because a lot of it, due to when it was written, has adult subject matter and breaks the Disney mold. I think this movie came close to addressing an actual situation where Dad's gone and Mom is raising Jim all alone, and he's trying to find his place in the world.
I loved this movie. Morph is so cute! - Though Jim is hardly a unique "Disney" character, seeing as how the entire movie was based on the book Treasure Island, published in 1883. Disney lost their ability to do anything original along time ago, if they ever had it. They have to steal their ideas from stuff that's already been made by other people with more talent.
@FoXxToxic You know that most of Disney´s movies are based upon books for adults and young adults? The little mermaid is a danish book in which the mermaid wants to become a human so badly she cuts of her fins. Sleeping beauty is a french book and the girl is raped, gets pregnant and gives birth before she even wakes up. Disney don´t steal, they adapt the book to a different adudience and hence is the story changed. The idea is still there, but not the exact storyline.
@Tamagochien I'm Danish and I've read The Little Mermaid and she doesn't cut of her fins...but she does turn in to scum and 'dies' like scum in the water. So it's not exactly a happy ending in the real story.
OMFG!! THIS IS MY FAV! fuxk all the rest of the disney movies i relate to the jim lol no dad just mom lol movie made a huge impact on me as a child they shud of made another movie too bad disney is retarded :'/
@HopefulNinja DISNEY PAY ATTIEON REALLY CLOSE !! mke another Kh`s game bt in EVER GAME consel device and well put JIM HAWKINS IN THERE !! :D and 1 new charcther :3 me XD
the best disney movies are based off the best pieces of literature, hence The Hunchback of Notre Dame, i think they really need to continue pulling from fantastic classics and keeping true to the stories.
this is one of the best ( in my opinion thee best) disney movies, maybe there's no romance (some) or fantasy or unrealistically happy ending but behind the comedy and scifi it shows a realistic struggle; how can a boy become a man when there's no one around to teach him?how do you pick up the pieces of a broken family and go beyond the examples that have been set for you, become the bigger person, and chose your own future. It hit home for me (literally) and truly does Treasure Island justice.
Here's the truth, If it doesn't have some princess the studio can milk, a fairy, a "No nards at all song, or if it has even the slightiest bit of man juice it's not considered a Disney classic. The Black Cauldron (Fantastic film) Suffered the same fate
@tigress365 You need to consider the live action movies as well as the collaborations with Pixar, that is if you're including all of Disney. In that case, Lion King is not the highest grossing film. Also, when you get into the technicalities of inflation, even in just the animated category, Lion King still isn't their highest grossing film. I believe it's only their highest when you keep to the unadjusted gross while excluding the live action films and Pixar. I'll shut up now, sorry.
What a good song it is. John Rzeznik's voice captures Jim's emotions perfectly, it makes the song so special. And it sounds really nice too :)!!
By the way you guys, i dont mean to bother you at all really, but i made a cover of this song, so if you got 4 mins check it out on my channel, or in the video responses (mathieu saikaly). It would be awesome!! I tried to put all my heart in it. Thanks!!
ah Treasure planet the most amazing and fantastic peace of my childhood....and even now <3 now thats what i call a fantastic Movie :3 unlike that other freaking shows like Hannah Montana and J.O.N.A.S =w=
honestly, this is one of Disney's great films in my opinion, but Pixar was over shadowing them by the time this came out. Plus, as I point this out, this is not only amongst the most creative Disney has done, but it has an actual message behind it, the characters r likable and complex, and it's not very cutsy like all the other films can b - in fact, the scenery and story can get scary and dark - so why doesnt Disney make more films like this???
@VictorianDemon cause disney is a kids movie unit for the most part, and this cartoon movie is too amazing for the bratty youth of today to handle. Personnally I think, they just don't get it. and a lot of people I've met have never herd of it. and its all disney pixars fault. if they made this movie with that kind of animation, it'd be really popular....blah >:(
This was my Childhood Song....just Like Phil Collins :) Yes people I am an Oldie type of a Boy...Its only because the true music is found in every field of music there was.....WAS....but unlike today People mindlessly comment about senseless topics.....There are about 21% of this world that truly understand good music...not fighting over one music after another....They should be glad music was born to this world :)
The scene when this song started playing really got to me, because I related to it so much. Started crying my eyes out. I love Jim so much, I think he's one of the best characters in the entire Disney series, and this movie just helped me with the problems I was facing at the time.
...pity I can't actually find a planet full of loot to help my mum out though.
Jim is my favourite disney character, the film came out when I was having a tough time as a teenager and he really just reassured me that he's going through pretty much the same thing (aside from finding a haul load of treasure that is) he has intelligence and fearlessness, but he also has flaws which makes him inspirational in a way.
Jim is a unique disney character, and one of my personal favorites. So many other disney characters are just these 'i'm always happy and kind and I break randomly into song'. But with Jim, he has character flaws, he does lose his temper- like a teenager actually does- and he also going through things that really and clearly do affect him. It makes him more realistic and relatable. It makes it all the more heartwarming to see that he makes it through it. Also kind of let me know I'm not alone. :)
@BlackPhoenix00280 Amen - To see a Disney Character go through something so... human... something you don't expect to see in a Disney movie. He resonated my feelings about my parents and I felt just like Jim. Like you said: Made me feel like I was not alone. Amen to your comment :)
@BlackPhoenix00280 I totally agree - I watched the movie for the first time in years yesterday, and I'm amazed at how much more I can empathize now that I'm older.
Hey just out of question where did you get the aduio and how cause I want to put this on my youtube channel and I can`t download this video on realplayer. Please reply.
the scene when his father leaves and he runs after him always makes me cry and this song just adds cause its just so perfect for that part of the movie
treasure planet is definately one of my top five disney movies, it's sad that disney can't really roll out movies like they used to, only a diamond in their rough every now and then.
I love this song, it is so inspirational :D I seriously think that Treasure Planet is one of the best Disney movies <3 There's just something about it that make's it special. Plus, it helps when there's a character that is so adorable as Morph <3 He's so cute!
I very nearly missed the movie when it first came out, seeing as no-one really paid much attention to it. That was when I was younger, but when I suddenly saw it on Disney Cinemagic a while ago I thought I'd give it a go, I was so glad I did. Now it's one of my favourite disney movies! Jim and Silvers' Father/son relationship is so moving, it was such an atmospheric film, truly magical and a real disney winner :D
why this movie was not more popular i'll never know....i saw it years after it was made, and i had stopped watching disney movies....this brought me back :)
I love this song so much. Every time I hear it, I always dream to reach for the stars. Maybe someday, everyone's wishes and dreams will come true. Thank you Disney for letting us dream for the best things in life.
Every time I read up something about disney and they mention Treasure Planet in passing as a 'flop' I get so mad! it's like it's my own movie and they're saying it sucks!
This movie is what influenced me at 11 to start pursuing astronomy and cosmology. I'm 20 now, and this movie still amazes me with the artwork of the solar system:) Oh where did the Disney I grew up with go?!
another thing that makes this movie so great is the voice acting: I never heard voices more natural in an animated movie than in here, especially Jim and Silver. It just goes to show that you shouldn't always choose an actor just cause they're famous, but because of their performance; that's the mistake they made by choosing Miley Cyrus as Penny. It just didn't fit.
it's been how many years since i last listened to this song and i still remember it. the lyrics are still relevant as ever. i can't believe how many shallow and ignorant ( fine, plain dumb ) people there are in this world right now.
I always enjoy this movie. especially this song. its also my theme song. my dad left around the same age. rought living after that. but this song hits the spot everytime. and guess what...im still here.
I just recently discovered this movie again and fell in love with it. It certainly is one of Disney's best. It might not be as epic as Lion King but the emotions, character chemistry (especially between Silver and Jim), artwork and the atmosphere are incredible. Certainly better than the mass-produced, profit seeking stories we get today. I hope this movie will one day get the glory it diserves. After all, it took years for Bambi and Pinochio to gain the status they have today.
This movie came out when I was little. I can still feel the way I felt in the beginning of it if I close my eyes during this song. I was completely absorbed in the movie. It felt amazing. This song is easily one of my favorites.
I seriously just finished watching this movie for the first time (I never saw it before) and I believe this movie does NOT need a sequel because it would be one of those horrible Jim meets a girl and follows her to the remains of Treasure Planet. But this is a good movie that, if it was made by a different company, could have sprouted a sequel.
Its people like John and Rob thomas who make moving music, and sometimes disney just picks the song to go with its movie and when it does...its amazing
This is the kindof movie I will never get tired of. Any time I feel down I just pop in the disc and watch away, and I still cry at certain parts (like when this song plays)
(silver) you give up a few things.... chasing a dream...
(me) BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! lol this song is so inspirational, it makes me feel sad that my generation can only understand crappy music, and boobs. They dont really understand anything like imagination.
this is one of the films that deserved bu8t didnt get a seual, Disney has got alot of great movies that would make money if they did a second one but doesnt because they consider the first ones failures at the box office. DANM U DISNEY! U HIT GOLD AND LET IT SLIP AWAY!
This is one of the last few great Disney movies that speaks to the children in us. I heard this song at the grocery store and was immediately transported to this movie. It's the last great movies(Atlantis, Princess and the Frog) that makes me think that Disney may still make it and not lose this girl to the throngs of screaming tween-pop-divas.
How to trust yourself and believe in yourself, knowing that despite what other people might think or say you're never without yourself and you can go places they can't when you stop bringing yourself down. How to trust other people, and that friendship can outlast anything between greed and hatred.
What you learn from Hannah Montanna:
How to hurt your friends and family and cover up a lie. How to lose a boyfriend. How to embarrass yourself. How NOT to sing
I LOVE this song! Its amazin! I've grown up with this song since I was a toddler! My mum and dad think that this song is so lame but they are SO WRONG!
I LOVE this song! Its amazin! I've grown up with this song since I was a toddler! My mum and dad think that this song si so lame but they are SO WRONG!
i love the beautiful fusion of Steampunk and cyber punk. the mix of cg and 2d animation worked wonderfully and i wish that more movies were as beautiful as this one.
This movie totally nailed what space pirates are meant to be. i love the steampunk feel to the ships and stuff. plus the story is brilliant. THIS my friends, is why pirates beat ninjas. <3

@BlackPhoenix00280 Amen - To see a Disney Character go through something so... human... something you don't expect to see in a Disney movie. He resonated my feelings about my parents and I felt just like Jim. Like you said: Made me feel like I was not alone. Amen to your comment :)

@BlackPhoenix00280 I totally agree - I watched the movie for the first time in years yesterday, and I'm amazed at how much more I can empathize now that I'm older.

treasure planet is definately one of my top five disney movies, it's sad that disney can't really roll out movies like they used to, only a diamond in their rough every now and then.

I very nearly missed the movie when it first came out, seeing as no-one really paid much attention to it. That was when I was younger, but when I suddenly saw it on Disney Cinemagic a while ago I thought I'd give it a go, I was so glad I did. Now it's one of my favourite disney movies! Jim and Silvers' Father/son relationship is so moving, it was such an atmospheric film, truly magical and a real disney winner :D

another thing that makes this movie so great is the voice acting: I never heard voices more natural in an animated movie than in here, especially Jim and Silver. It just goes to show that you shouldn't always choose an actor just cause they're famous, but because of their performance; that's the mistake they made by choosing Miley Cyrus as Penny. It just didn't fit.

I watched it, just today, again. I hadn't in awhile. I'm in love again.
Fernyheather 11 months ago 2

Its people like John and Rob thomas who make moving music, and sometimes disney just picks the song to go with its movie and when it does...its amazing

this is one of the films that deserved bu8t didnt get a seual, Disney has got alot of great movies that would make money if they did a second one but doesnt because they consider the first ones failures at the box office.

What you learn from Treasure Planet:
How to trust yourself and believe in yourself, knowing that despite what other people might think or say you're never without yourself and you can go places they can't when you stop bringing yourself down. How to trust other people, and that friendship can outlast anything between greed and hatred.
What you learn from Hannah Montanna:
How to hurt your friends and family and cover up a lie. How to lose a boyfriend. How to embarrass yourself. How NOT to sing
