you're mad. that's some rock solid rhythm guitar (Janice) and through a sick bass solo by Floyd, this is utter gold. if you want to see geeky finger tapping Poncery i suggest Steve Vai (shreds). this here is music, fool. I find you deplorable.
This was most likely recorded later when the episode was reworked since Jerry Nelson, who was unavailable during initial taping dates, contributes an uncredited performance as Floyd, using the same bass voice that he uses during the "Mr. Bassman" number in the Mummenschanz episode.
I always wondered who the actual band they got to play for the shows was. There have always been great musicians for everything that the electric mayhem and the other musical numbers had going on.
At JazzyVegas: I have also been wondering who the 'real' musicians are behind the Electric Mayhem. Is there anyone who could tell or who could show me a vid in which they can be seen??
Has anyone else seen the robot chicken parody electric mayhem behind the music (VH1) where animal is put down, the girl in the band is dieing of hepetitus and the sax player is in prison for drug smugling, that was so funny:D
The one and only thing I find deplorable about the Muppets is that they didn't invent a strong guitarist character who comes level with Rowlf, Zoot, Animal and the lot. Janice never had those funny, cranky (whatever) performances like the others. Considering the zillions of guitarists who love the Muppets, that's a pity.
@miro108 That's funny. That's one of the things I love about the Muppets – that didn't have a lead guitarist to screw up all their great arrangements.
@miro108 Personally, I am happy that the guitar stayed in the rhythm section where it belongs. It's jazz for chrissake. Keep the lengthy disjointed guitar solos out.

@aarnis Floyd Pepper plays bass, not guitar. But I disagree with miro108's comment I think Janice was a great character, as well as Floyd.
Musiclover19 5 months ago
@aarnis floyd's a bassist, janice is the guitarist... and kinda boring... miro is all too correct in his statement

@miro108,
Janice had plenty of funny moments.
Remember all the time she kept talking when everyone was silent?
And what about her always talking about nudity?
Or some of her classic zingers in 'The Muppets Take Manhattan'.

I still can't believe that this is the best version of this tune on Youtube.
Phantomsbreath 3 years ago 4
Better than Fats Waller? (Not that Floyd doesn't rock it.)
smurfthumper 2 years ago
Totally better. Seriously.
Phantomsbreath 2 years ago
Fats definitely rocked it though i prefer Flyod's version, mostly to the deeper voice he uses.
