plus, i have to disagree with your 'aren't even well trained' comment. in the 'golden day of piracy' most started out in the british navy, which was the navy that ruled the world for a bit. they were privateers and turned pirate after the wars were over that made privateers legal. today's pirates are still able to take what they want quite effectively, although there is less romanticism connected to them. i don't know about their training nowadays, but it's hard to argue with automatic weapons.
