Yes, it is. 98SE is the best version for vintage gaming rigs. If your machine is powerful enough, setting up a dual boot system with 98SE and XP is even better.

It just so happens that there is a large and active gaming community out there that enjoys playing the old games on old hardware and Windows 98SE just happens to be the operating system of choice for those gamers either alone on slower hardware or in dual boot configuration with XP for faster machines.

Go ahead, try to say Windows 98 isn't better than Windows 95 in EVERYTHING. If Windows 98 wasn't better then Microsoft wouldn't have bothered to release it at all. They would have just stuck with Windows 95 all the way up to XP. Windows 98 is more stable, supports more technologies, and can run things that 95 simply can't. Case in point, the last DirectX version for 95 is 8.0 but for 98 it's 9.0c. That means I can run better video cards and that benefits apps as well as games.
