Oh God! Just three days ago I had a dream where he threatened to shoot a rubber band at me, and then I see this in the related videos list. I'm in that place where I think it's the unmistakable sign of the universe's approval.
@emmyyface I dont hear much beatles in this song ..its just simply weird .as was a lot of the stuff bowie was.doing at this time.,,, doesnt sound at all like penny lane .other than they .both have trumpets..
Not exactly David Bowie...was recorded prior to his name change...when went by his real name...Davie Jones....but for obvious reasons had to change his name...as there was a famous american monkey of the same name...
Wow... First time I heard this (I've got most of his albums, but steered away from the debut one because of all the criticism)... Well, this is the first song so far on this album that foreshadows songs to come; Love the instrumentation - and the lyrics/content are sarcastic/cynical... Going to listen to the rest now... Cheers!
I was reading in a David Bowie Biography by George Tremlett that this was one of his first creations. Nobody ever wanted to listen to this 'junk', because it wasn't like the 'great' music back then. Well I guess they're wrong because this is some good ass shit!!!
cant blif this masterpiece is 43 years old already n still not boring listening it many times haha xD DB is indeed the king of pop culture hands down ^^
I'm sure, David Bowie sported this moustache (most likely a false one) especially for this song with the line "My moustache was stiffly waxed and one foot long".
He reminds me of uncle Rico on Napolean Dynamite with that mustache LMAO!

He is too cute. I love David Robert Jones even more than Ziggy :D like seriously, does anybody else just want to go back in time and squeeze him?

very 1967. The beatles had just released their Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club album. Rubber band is very much in that tradition.
