  • hill billies

  • i always thought blown meant u have the blower poking out the hood?

  • @pewpscoop It actually refers to any type of supercharging.

  • I was smiling the whole time in :) I thank you for that sir.

  • The whole time I watched this**

  • @jhorod09 You're very welcome and thank you too!

  • bad ass dude

  • @Duff11993 Thanks!

  • Brought to you by UPS: What can Brown do for you?

  • @bigdog5986 Yes, it was actually cheaper to start out with a long bed than a short one (think economic crisis along with supply and demand). Anyway, the plan was to always tub the rear end and put in a 10-point roll cage, so with that a lot of chopping and welding was necessary anyway. It took about two months.

  • that's a long ass truck...

  • i have one of those except mine is a regular bed and not long bed.

  • @unexpectedkustoms Nice, yeah this was converted to short bed.

  • its 408 mopar ?

  • @h3llfr0st It's actually an LS1 based motor, specifically the iron LQ9 block.

  • now thats a burn out

  • now thats a purty chevy

  • bad ass ride bro.

  • @garciaville13 Thanks man!

  • Now thats a nice sounding chevy! Realy cleen looking truck. Nice

  • @Teadrinker4 Thanks bro!

  • dam i heard it shift 2 TIMES!!!!!

  • @jmecrg Oh yeah! :D

  • anyone else notice that was a 3rd gear burnout

  • @88chev About time someone noticed! Haha

  • @Professiona1 lol id be pissed if i did a 3rd gear burnout and no one noticed.. some peoples kids right ... im hoping to get a burnout vid up soon witgh my posi in :)

  • @Professiona1 @Professiona1 lol id be pissed if i did a 3rd gear burnout and no one noticed.. some peoples kids right ... im hoping to get a burnout vid up soon witgh my posi in :)..you need some more vids man

  • @88chev Haha, I hear ya. Nice, and yeah, please post a video with the posi, I'd like to see it! And I know brother, unfortunately the truck is not fully done yet, started the conversion at the end of the 2007 season and still working on it! >.< In due time though, in due time.

  • @Professiona1 who cares if its not done :)... what else are u doing to it?

  • @88chev Haha, well if I could drive it I would, let's just put it that way. :P Check out my website listed under the video for some pictures of what was done, basically it was shortened, tubbed, 4-linked, and had a full roll cage put in. Almost there!

  • incredible sound

  • @jchevy33 Thanks!

  • wow the front end looks awesome....love the grill and scoop

    nice truck

  • @downsouthboner Thank you very much!

  • @hemipower hit me up i want to set up front mount twin turbo do u notch in the wastegate adapter? and of course how much

  • Im building turbo headers for the 4.8L 5.3L 6.0L and possibably the 8.1 depending. single or twin turbo set ups because theyre almost impossible to find. anyone interested? Let me know.

  • Ah ok sounds pricey let's say just the bore and stroke and forged pistons and crankshaft to start of sorry for all the questions really appreciate the help

  • @chevelle454ss1 No problem man, I am glad to help! If you were to build the motor yourself and just purchased a set of forged pistons, forged connecting rods (because of the stroke), a forged crank, and left the boring to a machine shop, it comes out to a minimum of roughly $3600. Obviously that only includes what's listed and not any additional parts or any additional labor.

  • 12 grand or 1200 would that include the forged pistons and forged crankshaft

  • @chevelle454ss1 That would be twelve grand, and that did include the forged crank and pistons, as well as everything else to complete the block, just not the supercharger.

  • Is this a Z71 4x4?

  • It's actually just a base model LS, rear wheel. Or I should say it was!

  • We want to see zig zags!

  • @TheNotoriousKRP Lol, maybe next time!

  • @lcurtizz Because it's not a long box anymore? No, with the way the economy was going several years ago when I bought the truck, it was actually cheaper to get a used long box than it would have a short one. Anyway, the outcome was always going to be the same, I was going to butcher the rear end to make it fully tubbed and pro modified.

  • @lcurtizz Check out my website to see the progress on the conversion, the truck actually just got out of paint, I just need to finish the new driveline. I haven't updated the pictures recently, I should probably do that.

  • @Professiona1

Fuck, thats insane, good build. If you knew you were going to be cutting frame and all that for a drag truck, why wouldn't you have gotten a regular cab long box? How did it run on the track with the looonnnnnggggg wheelbase?

  • @lcurtizz Thank you. And yes, very good question about not using a regular cab. Again it goes back to the original design plan, I wanted the truck to maintain a stock look from a quick outside glance, obviously if one were to stick their head under the body panels, it would be immediately clear. I have some great pictures on the website of what I mean, the cage was routed under the window and with a tonneau cover; one would never see the cage. And it ran horribly with the long wheel base!

  • @Professiona1 so its basically a sleeper, damn nice work

  • @phil656565 Yeah, you're absolutely right and thank you!

  • @lcutizz And sorry, YouTube errored and removed your comment when I replied.

  • How much am I looking to spend on a set up like this the 408 stroker

  • With the blower setup, or just on the motor itself?

  • @Professiona1 Just the motor itself thanx

  • @chevelle454ss1 The motor just by itself was about twelve, and no problem, let me know if there is anything else I can answer.

  • so i know this could pose for a long answer, but how did you go about building your 408? buy a stroker motor? or get a 6.o and buy a kit ot what? i mean how did you start out?

  • @robrobcharles I first bought a LQ9 block, just the block as it was going to get built anyway. Then after I had the forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, aftermarket heads, and the block was bored 0.030" over, I was then ready to spec out the pistons that would work for my application and goal. In this case in order to reach my goal and the desired parameters, custom pistons were needed and that was contracted out to Diamond. From there the rest were just the basics.

  • id really love to do a 408 for my truck as i now have an 01 silverado regular cab swb 2wd. but im thinking my process would take much longer in terms of going out and acquiring all these parts

  • Ah, yes, it certainly can take longer doing everything on your own, however careful planning helps. Best of luck in your endeavor!

  • Dear Santa.. I want one of those for Christmas.. thank you.

that thing is fucken sweet!!!!! what are the dyno numbers??

  • Lol, that's awesome, I am glad you enjoyed that! The motor dynoed a conservative 602 RWHP with 715 RWTQ, those numbers were tuned for a pig rich 10:1 AFR.

  • Ah, just an online handle, the original ones had been taken already.

  • @TacticalSuperRebel Thanks! However, what numbers are you talking about?

  • What's new with the truck? I've seen the website and all the pictures stop once the roll cage and 4 link are finished.

  • Not too much, most of the mechanical things are finished, just small odds and ends left, as of this writing though, it's at the body shop. It's been there since August, however, it's a buddy who is painting it, I told him to take his time just as long as the paint is finished by spring. And hey, it saves me on having to pay for winter storage! Thanks for checking out the website, I greatly appreciate all of the support! Check back in spring, that's when new updates and pictures will be coming.

  • whats a good powerful crate motor i can get for my 2000 silverado 5.3l

  • You have a lot of options for an LS based crate motor. You could go with a stock LQ9 (6.0L HO), or an LQ4 (6.0L low compression - great for boosting), a 402, or like I did, a 408. It all really comes down to how much you want to spend.

  • i have an 03 sierra 6 litre can i put a 6.6 duramax in it, or would i be better off buying a new truck?

  • Definitely doable, but yes, unless you want to shell out big bucks to make it happen, your better off getting a new truck.

  • you can do anything aslong as you have the money... i say new truck... it would be your best bet

  • get the meats hot and tickle the pavement like an od prostitute thats what i always say, i wrote the book on burnouts and prostitutes, lets all light the meats up and pick up a street hooker, thats what i always say.

  • think that truck can to a burn out til the tires blow right up???????? get down with the meats hot thats what i always say. get the meats a smokin, thats what i always say. light the meats up or die thats what i always say. i always say thats what i always say. smoulder the meats til they blow 247 365

  • Absolutely! Haha, that's a good motto to live by!

  • can i put an LS7 in it?

  • Being that you have an LS1 based truck, yes, you can put an LS7 in there. Obviously some modification may be required. However, you can get a better motor with more power for less money, case and point my motor, it engine dynoed at 650BHP without the blower, that's just on the built 408 stroker (6.7L). That's roughly 150BHP more than the LS7 at about a third of the cost. Alas though it's no LS7, that being GM's naturally aspirated crown jewel engine, AKA, no bragging rights. It's a trade off.

  • can you give me a rough estimate of what it might cost to replace my 6L with a 408? i looked at a couple on a gm website but i have no idea how much the work would cost.

  • Hmm, that really all depends on how stout you want your engine, they have many different parts in many different price ranges, all depends on how crazy you want to go. However, I would say plan on spending anywhere from at least a couple grand (most likely a used motor) to 20 grand (brand new fully built motor).

  • haha its all good...ok ill ask u for suggestions, because it seems u probably know what ur doing. What would be some good mods to start off with to work my way up? lets say starting at a base of $1,000...whats good that can be done with that?

  • Well, for starters I would do exactly this in this exact order. Pick up a good aftermarket (preferably OEM if they have a performance parts division) intake, exhaust headers (not referring to a cat-back system, you won't see much gains since the restriction is usually from the factory exhaust manifold), and finally and most importantly, a tune. I'd recommend having a performance shop install the intake and headers and then have them tune it while it's there.

  • lol i cant say i mechanically inclined for the fact that i live on a college campus. I have a 2000 Silverado 5.3, the only mod ive ever slightly done has been a cat-back flowmaster. Ive looked into long and short headers but idk which one to go with. I did alot of research, and from what people have said, is that the AEM brute force is probably one of the best aftermarket intakes...what do you feel about those things?

  • longtubes will offer more performance for sure, you will see significant gains in hp and tq with shorties but not as much with longtubes. i would put it like this longtubes=good sound high perf. shorties=loud as hell little less perf. and for a cam i would deff go with the magic stick 3 or 4 very good sounding and performing cams. but if your going to do cams that high inpperofr, amce its almost a must for head work roller rockers springs etc. etc.

  • Or, if you are mechanically inclined, do the intake and headers yourself, but pay an actual performance shop to do a dyno or street tune immediately after. Ideally you'd want to dyno your vehicle before and then again after any and all mods (including tuning). Obviously dynoing twice increases the costs, hence why most people only dyno once, after their mods are done; this should be avoided. The right way is to dyno before and after.

  • Gotcha, understandable. I would highly recommend long tube headers if they fit within your price range. If not, shorties would work, but you'd probably get a little higher gains with the long tubes. As far as the intake goes, I'd stay away from an intake that uses metal tubing, metal can heat soak (sort of defeating the purpose of a COLD AIR intake). However, that isn't to say the quality of the AEM isn't good.

  • As far as I know, the only company who produces a plastic intake for the Silverado is K&N with their FIPK series (not their 77 series, that's metal).

  • ok cool...my dad told me the same thing about it heating up but i wasnt to sure.

  • Yup, he's right.

  • ok...with longtubes which brand and type do u suggest? (like porcelin, stainless...what?), what do u feel about camming it too?

  • The absolute best (for their quality and fitment) would be Dynatech. They make some of the best headers and other exhaust components on the market. However, if they are out of your price range, these are the things to look for in a good set of headers: long tubes, made from stainless steel, and lastly, ceramic or some other thermal coating. If you have the money for a cam, I say go for it. Just make sure to design the engine and its performance all at once, try to avoid piecing it as you go.

  • about how much did that cost? that truck is beast!

  • Haha, more than I care to admit! Thanks!

  • not often you see a long bed fixed up nice

  • Thank you, unfortunately it is no longer a long bed, it has since been converted to a short bed.

  • i cant see why peole do this to there newer cars and trucks it fucks up the trannys bad... and many other components that make the truck or car move such as the rear, tranny as i said, breaks, etc.

  • Believe me when I say this truck isn't anywhere close to being stock, all components have been upgraded/built.

  • dont powerbreaking still hurt the rear's and trannys and shit.. thats what i was told by mechanics...

  • It most certainly can and will if you hold it too long, again though, this depends on the vehicle and how it was built. In this case though, almost no damage was done to anything other than the tires. I have front line locks on my truck, the rear braking system never saw any increase in line pressure.

  • ohh i see... so this would not be a good idea in a dodge.. they have weak ass trannys.. haha

  • Lol, that you are right, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have your trans built.

  • haha yeah... i have a lincoln towncar v8.. hows the trannys on newer fords???

  • They are about your average transmission, nothing factory is ever too built (less Chrysler transmissions, those are the exception, they flat out suck); OEM transmissions are usually just made for that specific engine application.

  • nice burnout

  • Thanks!

  • very nice, can i have another lol, but no nice truck and peel

  • Lol, as soon as I finish it there will be many more! And thanks!

  • nice truck

  • Thanks!

  • I currently have an 07 c1500 classic, after my 05 psd was totaled, and I was wondering if you knew of any GM crate engine that would swap into place of the vortech 4300? I know with the 91-2000 350 they make a 363 stroker thats drops in and pass emissions, i don't know if they make anything for a 4.3 yet anything for an 07 classic because alot of redesigning under the hood and the chassis happened in 07 for the new body style.

  • Unfortunately the only crate engine that would fit your current platform would be the newer (which you already have) and previous gen of that V6. With that said, that would be a direct bolt and drop in solution, however, it's not your only option. You can swap in a V8 relatively easy with some fabrication work (motor mounts, etc...), trans swap, and a PCM swap. It isn't too hard to do, obviously there is more to it than that though. Anyway, good luck on your project!

  • edlebrock makes alot of performance parts for your engine if building one is an option you could probably 300 to 350 hp and still pass emissions.

  • awesome truck man about how much did your engine cost to build ? im working on my 73 chevelle malibu right now it's just a stock 350 4 bolt but im thinking about going fuel injected big block

  • Thank you, my motor cost about $12,000 after all the parts, not including the supercharger, that was about an additional $7,000. Oh nice, that should be a great project to work on. Honestly, I would like to see it fuel injected, you'd be making more power while saving fuel. Also aside from those obvious benefits, if you went with a standalone management system (or even swap in an existing platform's PCM), tuning and adjusting is made that much easier. Best of luck on your project!

  • thanks im also thinking of dropping in a 5 speed my buddy has one we took out of a 4.3 S-10 2wd. add a good tuned port 383 stroker with a 3.55 posi rear end. i think that would run good

  • You bet your ass that would run good! Just be sure you build up that trans, you could easily shear off the gears with all of that power! Sounds awesome, which ever way you choose to go, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you keep me updated!

  • thanks for your support and i will keep you informed . im thinking of posting a few stock burnouts and then just kinda post my mods as i do them im on a limited budget but i can do almost anything with my hands. would a tpi system off an early 90's model camaro run on my car if i used the complete wiring harness and stock computer ?

  • Excellent, I can't wait. Get some videos of a stock burnout and post it! That's great you do a lot of the work, same here, there is nothing more enjoyable than working on your own project car. Unfortunately a TPI system probably isn't going to be compatible with a later model 350 (especially if that 350 was an LS based motor). Although if you swapped the whole computer it might work, but depending on what PCM you have currently, you may be required to use both and/or piggyback it.

  • i was going to use the whole setup out of the camaro engine and all and my car has no pcm it's a 73

  • Gotcha, that might actually work then!

  • i found a 93 that smacked a light pole cause some dummy was playing in the rain it's a five speed also i just can't get a straight price the interior is not that bad either i want to use the bucket seats and center console but i think that's gonna be tough

  • Oh wow, I don't know much about those interiors of those years, but I hope everything works out.

  • from experience do not use the new venture s10 trans around 300 ftlbs those trans like to become jigsaw puzzles but the new venture from a fullsize truck is a good option

  • Ah, very good info, yeah, I currently use a built 4L80-E rated for over 1200 RWTQ.

  • thanks 4 the advice . right now im only running a stock 350 4-bolt would i be ok to run it ? i don't know alot about transmissions yet

  • if it is from a 90 to 96 you are at the border line of safe and not safe a 97 up is a little better (bigger bearings and syncros) as long as you dont bang the gears every time your in it i would say you sould be ok i had one last for a year behind a tuneport till i did a 3rd gear burnout then no mor trans so remember it is a trans made for a 160 horse v6 not a 200 to 300 horse v8 so keep that in mind when you want to have fun.

  • k thanks 4 the advice i think im going to keep my 350 turbo until i get enough cash 4 a good 5-speed

  • nice burnout the angle was just right

  • Thanks for the compliment!

  • very nice!!!!! i like the 3rd gear burnout what kind of kit did you use for the stroker. or is it a lq9 to lsx conversin

  • Thank you! I try to do all of my burnouts the correct way, that is in a 1:1 gear. I didn't use a kit, just bought custom made Diamond pistons according to my specifications with Eagle connecting rods and an Eagle crank. The block is the iron LQ9 bored 0.030" over with the new stroke from the longer Eagle connecting rods.

  • not a bad set up. have you put the holden kit on it or going to. on a stock lq9 that kit ups it to 460 horse and with your stroker that would net you around the 500 markor better. any way nice ride keep it between the ditches and steer with the rear

  • Thank you, but it already has a supercharger and made 602 RWHP through a two-piece driveshaft, Ford 10" rear end with quick change gears (custom made Winters Performance quick change), and a built 4L80-E. It made 857 HP at the crank. These numbers are before nitrous. Thanks again for all of the great comments and praise!

  • Damn! Now imagine in Nitrous!

  • Haha, I know, it should be entertaining when it's finished!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Im trying to convert my 04 silverado from limited slip to a live axel...any suggestions ...Locker? rear end swap?

  • Well depending on the power, you could just look for a full spool for your factory differential case, that would do exactly what you want.

  • bad bad bad...... so sick... whats it run in the 1/4?

  • Thanks man, I honestly don't know yet, I haven't finished the full tube, full roll cage, custom 4-link suspension, short bed conversion (aka pro modified).

  • 408?

    what is that block originally?

  • It's the LQ9, iron 6.0L (364 CID).

  • Thanks! Unfortunately I don't have a roll pan though.

  • That is a sweet chev. I'm a ford guy. but damn. lol

  • Lol, thanks bro!

  • Im More of a Offroad Kinda Guy ,But this truck caught my attention Nice work man Lovin the look

  • Thank you very much!

  • im sure UPS wasnt to happy about the marks u left them. haha

  • Not at all! :P

  • sweet. Thats why I'm a chevy fan.

  • Amen to that! :)

  • nice truck! whered you get the engine im lookn to be rid of my 4.8 and put somethin bigger in my gmc.

  • Thank you! I actually built the motor, completely one off. I took a bare LQ9 (6.0L iron block), did all forged internals, and stroked and bored it. I had a custom grind cam made for it and then put a blower as well on it. There are so many ways and options to choose from for your motor, or if you want a turn key built motor, I suggest you check out Texas Speed, they're good motors. Best of luck with your project!

  • thanks man rad ride. good info. finaly someone who builds their own stuff. i did that with my ford ranger 2.3 but i got rearended and insurance wrote it off so i bought my gmc. gona do this one up now.

    keep er real.

  • Thank you too. Yeah, I do as much work as I can on it. Oh nice, but that sucks you got rear-ended, sorry to hear about that. At least now you have a GMC now, I wish you the best of luck and hope it turns out great!

  • like butter on breed sweet i like to see a ford or doge do that whte no problem sweet truck man

  • Haha, nicely put man and thanks bro!

  • its stroked and has blower on it. do that to anything with a limited slip and it will do that

  • I totally agree with you about shortbeds, however, you are absolutely correct as the truck is no longer a work truck. Also, being that the frame is now pro modified, back halfed, and fully tubed, the new frame is completely in the bed, rendering the bed useless, I couldn't see a reason as to not shorten the bed. You can see what I mean by visiting my website. I also agree on the GM diesels, they are really nice and VERY powerful. Good luck with your truck and thank you for the compliment!

  • I saw this truck at photos on a random off day. Pretty scary animal. Very nice truck.

  • Well thank you very much for the compliment! Just wait until it's finished...Again... :P

  • lol seriously a longbox ?

  • Haha, yes, a longbox! But not anymore!

  • Thats a mean fucken Chevy . Im think about dropping a 383 stroker on my 94 1500

  • Thanks man, nice, that should be pretty mean as well! Good luck on your project!

  • it would be a nice project, but i got bad luck with my truck since its always being broken into and has been stolen like three times. that's whats stopping me from doing that

  • Ouch, that sucks, I am sorry to hear that. I can definitely see that as a reason for stopping you. Well I hope things go well and you are able to eventually do it.

  • ATK Engines makes good quality engines

i bought from them a while back, a 383 stroker in fact

and it works great! they have a 383 stroker online right now, 600hp+ around 12k i do believe

    good luck

  • damn 600 poneys ima to check if it street legal in California lol. but i will chk it out thks

  • now that my friend is a burnout =] nice!

  • Glad you liked it!

  • Thats a big ass truck, and it´s a chevy <3

  • It's short now! :P

  • I´m thinking about getting an S10;)

  • There you go! Drop in a V8! :D

  • Yeah, but i live in sweden so there might be hard to find one at a good price:/
