@hotrod851 Whats your problem hotrod, if you dont like these cars then fuck off and watch something else, youve slagged my car off and now this one, personally i think this one is great, get a life you prick
@lukeshytalker02 Yes its a BDA engine...but the type 49 strenghening top plates on the inner wings are not there......concluding mabie its a replica...
Cosworth started working with ford in 1984 for with a NA concept? so why do i 1973 mk1 have a cosworth engine, thougth they used the BDA engines in that time era.
I know that. But if you want the mk1 rally replica you should have had an BDA engine not a cosworth, because the cosworth engine started in 1984 as a NA concpet engine, but became the YBT with the Sierra Cosworth / rs500
No :) stick with the cosworth engine :)! but! I think you have a BDA if not the camera invertet det image because usally on cosworth engines the exhaust is on the opposite side of what your engine is.
thats a cosworth BDA based on the cossflow block design, the cosworth you refer to is probably the one found in sierras and is based on the pinto block, totally different engines
@doyler0018 It was a good engine mate but got unreliable when Ford tried to increase capacity towards 1800cc and they soon found the limits of it. The BDA was the replacement for the Lotus lump and gave a lot more power, especially when they took it to 2 litres with an ally 'Hart' block. A good original 'Twin Cam' Escort would be left standing by an average hatchback nowadays as it only had about 105hp??, but at the time there was nothing to touch em, including the 7 litre Ford Falcon.
@molotovhobo I think you're just a bit confused mate. The BDA 'is' a Cosworth engine based on a crossflow block, and Costin & Duckworth - who did the headwork on it - were working with Ford much earlier than 84. Interesting engine the BDA, it actually retained the cam in the side of the block to drive the fuel pump and distributor, so technically it has 3 cams, not two :)
@kayremi Nice 1 mate, someone who knows his stuff. And although the RS1600 was only really 1599cc, Ford homologated it as 1601cc which put it into the under 2 litre class. Sneaky fuckers :)

thats true but i guess people just like a cosworth enigine in a ford. maybe a loutus twin cam would be a good engine?

Cosworth started to work with for long before 1984!
Cosworth made the BDA engine!
So this BDA engine is just right where is should be, in an Escort mk1.
Stunning car!

It wat mike hall that made it? wasn't it?
molotovhobo 2 years ago
I don`t know how Mike Hall is.
But it was Mike COStin and Keith DuckWORTH that founded Cosworth, they made it.
The BDA engine was introduced in 1969. And was put in a road going car in 1970, the Escort RS1600.
