I couldn't get the Shelf to appear either on 10.5 but got it working - go to catalog\modules\shelf and clipboard\click the i(info) button bottom left click on Contents from the Drawer that opens then double click where it says Shelf or General and the Icon will appear in Quicksilver window, this seems to set a path for it and it should now work normally.

I am loving these tutorials, really liking quicksilver. I am following creating custom triggers, but shelf and clipboard do not appear when typing, only shelf & clipboard (catalogue) show up. can someone advise?

At 0:55, preferences/Actions, it was necessary for me to select "by Plug-in" (instead of "by Type") to get shelf to show up the first time. After that, it showed up regardless of the search type.

I can get shelf and clipboard to work as per the tutorial, my problem is that whenever I close a program the shelf and the clipboard show up. I have tried everything from changing the presets to reinstalling the plugins, and I cant seem to fix this. Any advice? Anyone else run into this problem and find a solution?

Everybody having the same problem : Shelf doesn't appear! Well, it was a long journey, but I found the solution! : go to catalog/modules, and SELECT "shelf and clipboard". Clic on the circular arrow (refresh)... tadaaa!

Also, I've been trying to assign shelf and clipboard hotkeys. When I get through to pressing the plus for hotkeys, I type in shelf, and it will only recognize shelf and clipboard catalog. It won't separate the two. Which means that I can't assign a trigger for shelf only. I've checked all the plugins and am at a loss. cheers

How do you make it so that the only icon on your desktop is your HD. I always seem to have to have some disks open there. Things like firefox, msn messenger, skype etc. can you put them somewhere else with them still operating? Oh! thanks for introducing me to Quicksilver too...Love it!

Try installing your applications instead of running them from your disk image.

Hey everyone - I figured it out. If you don't have clipboard in your plugins list - click the gear below the list and select "refresh list of plug-ins" -- then you should see a big list with the above plug-ins listed.

After installing the shelf plugin and restarting QS, I could not setup a trigger for it because QS wasn't able to find the shelf command (it only showed the catalogue entry). The solution is to refresh the catalog (in the preferences tab) of the "Shelf & Clipboard" item by pressing the circular arrow in the bottom right.

Hello, i have the same problem as some other people. when i set up the triggers for shelf i cannot set up the command open, and when i set up clipboard i do not get clipboard history, i only get shelf and clipboard...i would appreciate any help...

In catelogue when I go to Qucksilver clipboad and shelf are not there. i can open them from the plugin menu item but they don't come up when I type clip in quicksilver?

I just installed this and love it. However, I've noticed in the tutorials, the Quicksilver interface is icons, while mine is just words and tiny icons and looks kinda crappy. I am running 10.4.10 and downloaded this program from the website. Any ideas?

In Quicksilver preferences (Ctrl-Cmd, Cmd-Comma), under Appearances, change Command Interface to Bezel.

The few examples where there's maybe a 1 or 1% faster solution with Quicksilver, the preference customization and the learning curve completely eat up the advantage. While you're fiddling with this thing, I'm getting things done, with the agonizing drudgery of the Finder.

Uhm, that depends on how much time you spend on your computer. If you use it 30min a day, sure, it won't give you much extra time, but when we're talking over 5 hours a day, it does make a difference.

By the way, the latest Quicksilver versions have changed the way you open "Show Clipboard", it is no longer a separate action. It is now under "Clipboard History -> Show", just like "Shelf -> Show". More logical now.

Before you can setup Shelf and Clipboard actions you MUST(!!!) refresh your catalog (Command+R while QuickSilver is open). Then they will be populated inside Catalog -> Quicksilver -> Shelf & Clipboard -> Click the bottom right "I" for info -> Contents Tab. Both Shelf and Clipboard History must be in that menu and ticked. If you don't do this, you acnnot setup triggers.

I'm having trouble with Shelf! I can get shelf to open with my trigger but I'm not able to double clip or press enter on any of my items in shelf to open them???? Any ideas anyone!?

mattyohe: Quicksilver is a bit more than just a helper for such copying ... and you can directly drag those clippings to the app if its in the dock ...

His usage of copying entries from wikipedia isn't that time saving... Just grab that text and make it a clipping on your desktop. then just drag those clippings into a text edit window.  Same process, without wasting processes.
