  • id love to know more about that cruise control setup you have. as far as the valve tick you've got; step one this is going to sound stupid but make sure your oil level is where it needs to be. it also doesn't hurt to to run a little thicker oil and that will quiet things down a bit. also crack a valve cover and see if all your rocker arm nuts aren't loose. those are the easiest things to do to see if its just the basics or you really need valve work.

  • @kjacobson351 well if you read the responce i left for the other comment i said i put a valve lash on this and it has hydralic lifters! :P the oil is fine but it has always had the tick or atleast as long as my dad and his brothers can remember, but we were checking the vavle because of the tick and i set a lash of 0.018 on all the rocker arms. but thing is it ran better! so that tells us it was set to tight before.....

  • @kjacobson351 ...and i will try to get a vid of the cruise control for you next time we go up. my grandma had the whole car worked about 12~13 years ago and had the engine rebuilt(guy did a shit job) and had the cruise control installed, while that happened the car got "restored" by someone she paid and the car has 64 tail lights, the new horse design which pisses us all off, and they didn't even bother to put new wood trim in, but this engine never ran right even when it was bought new in 1965

  • @nikyjim yeah silly me i forgot it had hydralic lifters not solid and i set a vavle lash of .18 cold on all the rocker arms, so the vavles are bearly opening as the cam is only like a .36 or .37 vavle lift so there is quit some ticking from that, but the odd thing is it sounds much better and runs smoother since i did that, but next spring we will be resetting the lash and put the aftermarket intake manifold on that has been sitting around a few years waiting to go on
