I never understood why the hero jams the soulstone into his forehead.. I know he tries to contain diablo, now that he has beaten him, however it just doesnt make sense.. also why immediately after battle?

I always told myself the dark power of the stone is too strong for the hero and tries to possess him..

he's a hero, that's basically the concept of a hero. putting the lives of many before yours, and that was the choice to save lots and lots of lives, at least he gave everyone more time to prepare for Diablo II :P

and 1 more question, why do you complain this ending when its clearly get such a nice game like Diablo II?

ok, Diablo 1 is classic but it had many issues with combat.. and classic or not, those problems are still very annoying

They can corrupt their surrounding, so keeping the demon in himself until new heroes arrives was the best option... A sacrifice if you prefer.

@OMGltsFred I would not agree. This game is very easy. More easy than most other single quest games. The only big misstake i guess is to not get lots of Vitality, except of that its just hack and slash. Very good feeling and story tho!

As in Diablo 2 he is the toughest in the game and Diablo will kill you in a flash but well prepared and fall he will but young ones you indeed must be ready and not let terror grasp you. Fight Diablo with courage that not even he the Dark God can overcome and save this world from the terror that is yet to be unleashed.

The soundtrack of this game is magnificent, the entire game is absolute masterpiece to which i cannot compare any other. The game play is amazing, story is compelling full of twists, and the entire feel of the game is eerie and the masterpiece of a soundtrack is a icing on the cake. Well done Blizzard, both Diablo and D2 are excellent games, sadly i think that D3 will be a letdown.

if you want extreme damage as a warrior, take the gnarled root, it does 1-6 damage, but it gives a damage bonus of 300%(this stacks with strength) it's a bit weak if you have low strength but, at later levels it's increasingly epic(up to the point of oneshotting nearly everything)

1: The soulstone allows Diablo to regenerate his own body.

2: Diablo did drop a soulstone which Tyreal destroys. Baals stone however is either buried in the worldstone chamber or Tyreal destroyed it at the forge.

@Tenientemani There wasn't anyway to kill Diablo except to contain them in the Soul Stone. Lazyrous found the stone and used it on Albert to reincarnate Diablo. The Wanderer in Diablo 2 was the Hero in Diablo 1. He tried to contain the evil with in him, but he failed. lol!

Actually, Izual was an archangel who was corrupted by the forces of Hell and became a demon. If you're wondering about what happens to the character from the first game, he becomes "The Wanderer" and is eventually taken over by Diablo.

The levers in this game are quite similar in purpose to the seals from the second title.

It was the fastest weapon I had at the time (had one of those haste modifiers), and two-handers take succubi out a lot quicker than one-handers. A floor covered with nothing but succubi is just the worst possible scenario for a warrior.

by far the easiest way to beat him is to roll a sorcerer, and use a high lvl fireball, because it hits HARD. Then use mana shield and chug mana potions (when you take damage it drains mana not health) that way was easy for me to beat him.

I'm guessing the Diablo in D3 will be the same Diablo we're all familiar with. After all, in the teaser Blizz released, he looks just about the same, except for the mouths on his shoulders.

In any case, knowing Blizz, they've probably cooked up something to explain why Diablo (or his influence) is still a threat.

It's difficult to say exactly what the soulstones did... but according to Izual, the fallen archangel you kill in act IV of d2, the soulstones were a trick meant to unleash the prime evils onto the mortal world. So destroying them presumably ensured that the three would not return.

But who knows. Blizz retcons a lot and my guess is that they could make up anything and blame it on the destruction of the world stone at the end of act V.

Diablo (and his two brothers) were overthrown and banned from hell by the lesser deamons into the humans world. There they caused agony and terror, untill the horadrim bound them within the soulstones.

Diablo from the first game possess king leorics son when he shoves up the soulstone in his forehead.

Then you kill his physical manifestation and do the same, and therefore diablo survived to diablo 2, where the soulstones are destroyed.

How diablo will return in diablo 3 is unexplainable.

Diablos return is easy to explain. The worldstone (D2 LoD) conjures a barrier that protects the Sanctuary from demons so they can manifestate. The soulstones origin comes from this stone aswell, and since it is destroyed, Diablo can return from the abyss.
