Yes, rather good. In places very good. But why all these outpourings of enthusiasm? My enjoyment was spoilt by intrusive rubato, heavy-handedness, extremes of tempo and trills drowning out the other fingering.
6.36 - 6.42 Everything before; all that complexity, emotion and intelligence has been leading and preparing us to this farewell - incredibly moving...
L'interprétation par excellence : des fulgurances extraordinaires dans le premier mouvement, et personne n'est allé aussi loin dans le mystère et la continuité du son dans le second mouvement.
I have at least eight or nine versions of this and Schnabel is the very best for many reasons in my opinion. I just wish the recording sounded better. Oh well.
Many thanks for posting this. I would like to venture the view, however, that you could not have found a more inauspicious moment not just within this recording but within the entire corpus of recorded music, to make a cut between two parts of a movement.
This is one of the most incredible pieces written for piano, the expression of a personal experience of life. And Beethoven was such an innovator as well. And the interpretation... still the best I have heard. Thank you for posting it.

- Pour le reste, on note avec plaisir des rubati bien dosés mais parfois couplés à une précipitation du rythme(4'48);
Globalement trop inégal; je reste donc assez réservé.
Since discovering this clip yesterday, I could not stop listening to it. Such an organic display of positive feelings, flowing, so green, like early spring. Thank you for posting it!
Do have any intelligence , or heart , Mr; Khaosoi ? F....... sort of robot .

I had this and 31 on Angel vynal. Schnabel one of the best ever playing one of Beethoven's last works. And yes indeed where is that note?

I'm always having a sigh when the main theme returns at 3:00. And at the climax on 3:55~4:05...just can't explain how I feel...

I'd heard a few Schnabel recordings of Beethoven's early sonatas, and I thought his interpretations were horrible.
But now I understand why people love him so much,

Schnabel seems to give an orchestral tint to the coloring. He doesn't make the sonata sound pedantic or stiff, but very much alive.
