Feel free to contact our Customer Care team at (330) 673 - 0600. they will explain what to look for when you buy indigo and how to use it with henna to color your hair..
@LeniGirly What color was your hair to begin with? Henna and indigo give a translucent stain, and since there are no chemicals, they cannot lift color. If your hair was dark to begin with, you won't see a difference.
I ordered some samples of henna and indigo from the Mehandi website in order to test it out on a strand of hair. I followed the directions on the website. The directions did not mention what temperature the water had to be in order to add to the henna and the indigo so I used regular tap water. Once I was done I did not notice any different in my hair color. Do you know what could have done wrong?
@jessyboo133 We never comment on specific brands of henna because, unless it's been chemically assayed, you can never be certain what's in the package. What we recommend is that you buy your henna from a good dealer who sells pure ground henna with no additives.
Hi there im "Confused" can someone tell me "black henna".? Henna is never black, henna never dyes hair black, but powdered indigo resembles powdered henna and it DOES dye hair black. So, when indigo was sold as hair dye, it was called "black henna".? Some boxes of "black henna" are real indigo? Do you need to mix both Henna and Indigo to DYE HAIR BLACK
@SoundOut260 Henna contains a reddish dye molecule. Indigo contains a bluish dye. When the two are used together as shown in the video, they combine to dye hair dark brown to black, depending on the concentration.
@SoundOut260 make sure you dont MIX the two together and then apply or you will get brown hair. if you apply henna then rinse out and THEN apply indigo, it will make your hair black. just wanted to make sure you knew!
I use the henna and indigo for african hair for dark brown and after maybe three times I noticed that the ends of my hair would tangle real bad and be very dry. I think the lemon juice is too acidic, any other suggestion for dye release for the henna; something milder. Also, should i only touch up the roots from now on.
@dish9901 The rule of thumb is, once you achieve the color you want on your ends, only do your regrowth, since the colors are permanent. Lemon juice can be very drying. You can cut the juice in half with water, or switch to orange juice, apple juice, or even apple cider vinegar.
@hennapage Can I use half apple juice/half water or half orange juice and half water. In retrospect, I think I used only lemon juice mainly with a small amount of water and my hair suffered. The henna for hair website says diluted liquid; I just should have used more water. I plan to do a treatment this weekend but only my roots. I want to make sure I dont dryout my hair again. Also, is it okay to add an oil after the dye has released from the henna or will that still impede the color. :)
@marabousandy Yes, you mix and apply the henna paste first, let it stay in the hair at least two hours, then rinse out the henna and apply the indigo paste and let if remain in the hair 45 minutes to an hour and wash your hair thoroughly to remove all the residue.
We use lemon juice to mix the henna. You can use other mildly acidic liquids if your prefer. The important thing is that the mix be mildly acidic to get the best results.
I have used henna before but now I'm thinking about going black with indigo. Does the black eventually weaken? Like if I use indigo once and keep my hair black for a few months and then just use henna only will I get that red tint again?
im thinking about buying this, but can i also apply this to hair extensions? and will i get the same color black? on the hair extensions and my own hair, and what would you say the shade of black this is ?
@sarahelunda The results depend on what the extensions are made of. Also, you don't know the history of the hair in the extensions. Your best bet is to test on a few strands of your own hair and the hair from the extensions and see what results you get.
Hi thanks for posting this vid I cant wait to try the indigo and henna, my question is where do I find indigo of good quality, there doesnt seem to be any Indian salons who sell it.
@MsVintage007 Feel free to contact our Customer Care team at (330) 673 - 0600. they will explain what to look for when you buy henna and indigo and how to use it.
Yes...This process will work on gray hair with some adjustment of the proportions of henna and indigo. If you post a question on our Forum at forums-dot-hennapage-dot-com, one of our staff will answer any questions you might have.
@mrly262 Yes, this process will work on grey hair. It's always best to test with some of your own hair to be sure your mix will give you the results you want.
Here it says to leave the Indigo for 90 minutes. It seems like the lady took her time to apply the indigo. Did she start counting the 90 minutes after she was done applying it all over her hair or do the 90 minutes start when you apply it on the very first strand of hair? Is it okay if the first strand of hair has had the indigo for more than 90 minutes?
I have naturally black hair & used to use Bigen oriental black to dye my grey edges. Then I heard about henna & indigo & got some from the mehandi site in June 2010 . My hair came out a nice beautiful jet black.
can you do the indigo without doing the henna. Or do you have to do both? I tried the henna about 6 weeks ago i really like the color except for the gray hair strands I have all of my gray hair strands were a little orange copper color the rest of my dark hair had a brownish red tint color which I love. How do I get it a little brown color in my hair. my grays are starting to show up around my hair line its time for another henna treatment.
@mskoollaid It's best to do the indigo application soon after the henna. It doesn't have to be immediate, but you get the best effect if you do it sooner rather than later.
Always do a skin test please!! I can wear blue jeans no problem but, indigo gave me an allergic rash. I can henna no problem, but the indigo was too much. Just because it is natural doesn't mean it can't be a skin allergen. Just a side note
@Danetteboone Henna and indigo could be said to be chemical opposites. Henna works best in an acidic environment and indigo is naturally alkaline, so you don't want put them in the same mix because they would tend to neutralize each other.
@cricket3362 Indigo is a dye made by processing indigo or woad plants. We import and sell indigo. You can call our Customer Care line at 330-673-0600 or 330-238-4097, and one of our customer service people will be happy to help you.
so let me get this straight: 1.Henna first (leave it in overnight) 2. wash out henna 3.indigo the hair 4. wash out 5. shampoo Questions: 1.Is anything wrong with the steps above? 2. Do you shampoo the henna out of the hair then shampoo, or do u rinse it out and follow with the indigo??? 3. After the indigo is shampooed out, can you follow a regular routine, such as condition, roller set/straighten, or heat is a huge NO-NO??? thanks again in advance...
Could you add coconut milk and lime to this (both henna and indigo instead of water)? I want henna for its loosening effect and I'm wondering if coconut and lime aid to that.
Sorry for harassing you with multiple questions XD
@Diamond52894 We've never tried coconut milk. The important thing in the case of henna is that it's most effective in a mildly acidic mix, which is why we use lemon juice. Other fruit juices work just as well.
You can call our Help Desk if you need more detailed answers 330-673-0600. Our associates are experienced henna users and will be happy to help.
@Diamond52894 It's best to apply the indigo soon after rinsing out the henna, but it doesn't have to be done immediately. Rinse out the henna and then shampoo if you wish. After the henna/indigo treatment is done, you can follow your normal hair routine, the same as you would after using conventional hair coloring.
sorry if you answered this question already. but is the indigo mixed into the henna? i was told that if you apply the indigo after the henna it will give you a richer black dye as a result. is that true?
@hennapage do any salons do this, without a person having to do this on their own? I want jet black hair so bad instead of this reddish brown stuff with a gray patch in the back that I was born with lol.
@increasingmyiman Some salons, especially so-called "green salons" will do a henna treatment on your hair. Your hairdresser can contact our help desk for information about how to use henna and indigo at helpdesk-at-mehandi-dot-com. You can also download our free e-book on using henna to dye your hair at hennaforhair-dot-com.
@hennapage I am so confused. This will work on Hispanic, Arabic, & BiRacial hair textures too though, right? Not just super tight kinky 100% Afro-Type hair or is this method only for that type of hair. The model used doesn't even have African hair, it's just curly, so the title makes no sense. Did it damage her hair, since she doesn't have African hair? Is it safe for everyone?
@increasingmyiman The fundamental makeup of all hair is the same however, hair textures differ and that is to some extent determined by race. The basic technique in the video will work for anyone, although you would have to adjust the ratio of henna and indigo depending on your natural hair color. For our clients who have densely curled hair, we recommend using a very finely sifted henna because the paste is easier to rinse out.
i don't understand the title. "Dying African hair black"?
anyways i want to dye my hair jet black without having to use a developer. my grandmother used to indigo my hair because i was born with grays but i want to be able to do it myself. is it possible to do this alone? or is it too messy?
thank you for the clip!!!! I have been going back and forth about using henna and main reason why I haven't use henna yet is because I'm scared of ending up with dark blue hair instead. So if after apply henna to my hair turns out a dark blue it will mature over the next 24 hours into deep black is that correct??
@ninalabelle2005 The henna/indigo process you see in the video won't turn your hair blue, even temporarily. The reddish-brown color of the henna will darken to dark brown or black, depending on the proportions of henna to indigo.
You can get more information on the process by downloading our free e-book. You can find a link to it at hennaforhair-dot-com. You can also e-mail our Help Desk at helpdesk-at-mehandi-dot-com and get advice from one of out associates.
hello i have a question about adding the indigo..... so i understand you rinse the henna out do you then fully dry your hair or do you apply the indigo to wet or damp hair? - Thank you
@myutubeusernamesux The sooner you apply the indigo after removing the henna, the better the color. It's easier to apply the indigo paste to dry hair.
Ah, sorry I just saw your vanilla pudding idea as I've whinged twice on here about the consistency of my indigo.
I'm in the UK and not entirely sure what vanilla pudding is. Could you tell me? also, I would like to know if when I want to refresh the colour do I just use the indigo and no henna?
@lipstickjunky I had to laugh because I have no idea what the stuff we call instant pudding is called in the UK...instant custard, maybe?
If you're still having problems getting things to work for you, you can e-mail our help desk at helpdesk-at-mehandi-dot-com and one of our staff will help you work out a good indigo mix.
I'm sat here with Indigo on my hair and it was the most difficult thing to apply that I'm not sure if I want to do it again! I mixed it just like you but it was gritty and fell off in little dry clumps no matter how much more liquid I added. I noticed yours is much more like clay and spreads. What do you think I did wrong?
Try adding a heaping teaspoonful of vanilla pudding mix per 100 grams of henna. The pudding will hold moisture and give the paste more body and make it easier to work with.
Is there anything you can recommend to use with the henna besides lemon juice that is as effective. Lemon juice can be drying and I'm looking for something that is less so. Thanks.
I want to dye my blonde hair black. I bought a plant based dye labeled "Black" that contains henna and indigo and some more plant-based ingredients in one powder. Would you say this will work, too, or should I use henna and indigo separately?
We can't tell you much without knowing the brand name and seeing the ingredient list on the package. Generally, we recommend that you avoid most pre-packaged henna preparations because they often contain chemicals or metallic salts and sometimes they contain ingredients that aren't listed on the package. You're safest if you buy good quality henna and indigo from a dealer you trust.
All the listed ingredients are safe, to the best of our knowledge. However, in our experience, simple applications of henna and indigo are the most reliable methods.
I found that with both the henna and indigo that it was really grainy and kept falling off my hair in dryish lumps. I really couldn't have mixed it anymore. Its the first time I've used henna/indigo and would like to know if this is usual or if I have bought poor quality product. Cheers!
It sounds as if your mix might have been too dry to begin with. Try adding more liquid to the mix. Also, be sure you're using a good quality and finely sifted henna.
I have been using henna/indigo for about a year. Having problems covering my gray. I have used henna and followed up with indigo but it turned out jet black. I have also used a combination of henna/indigo...hair is black but not jet-blk. Is there any combination I can use to cover the gray but get dark brown instead of jet-black on my african hair? I also have amla powder. Please help. Thanks!
Henna powder can keep for about a year if it's kept cool and in an airtight container out of the light. Henna paste can be kept for a year in the freezer.
Henna and indigo in the right proportions will dye your greys black. This is the most "natural" method we know. You apply the indigo immediately after rinsing out the henna. If the greys aren't dark enough, you can do a second indigo application to get darker color.

I can't see what differece the henna has made at all because there is no before to compare it to.
I have black hair with quite a few grays and I want to see what the results would be after henna and indigo but there does not seem to be any good examples of this. Could the grays end up purple?
A henna/indigo mix will give you reddish highlights and cover your greys. You can find suggested mixes and before and after pictures at hennaforhair-dot-com. Click the "Mix Henna Colors" link.

just wondering, caus im thinking of dyeing my hair with henna, does this smell while its in and your hair and also would it make your hair smell after the process
Some people find the smell of henna rather pelasant...like fresh cut hay. If you like, you can scent the henna paste with any of a number of essential oils.
Indigo does its thing in 60 minutes. After that, the indigo will have oxidized and becomes inactive, so there's nothing to gain by leaving it in your hair.
Thanks for the quick reply! If I want to dye my hair with henna, then indigo to dye it black, how will the flat iron affect the black colour? Also, how often can henna and indigo be used? Can it cause damage like the commercial dyes? And lastly, how well will gray hair be covered by using henna then indigo overtop to get black? Your video and comments are most helpful. Thanks again!
As far as we know, the iron shouldn't be a problem with the henna/indigo black-dyed hair. For the best results with covering greys, make sure an pressing oil or simila product is completely removed from your hair before you do the dyeing. Reapplication depends on the natural color of your hair and how much grey hair you have (grey hair grows faster than pigmented hair). Two to four weeks would be a good rule of thumb.
I use a flat iron fairly often to straighten my hair, but I've noticed that it makes my hair colour fade quickly when I use commercial dyes. Is it safe for me to use a flat iron on hair that's been dyed with henna/indigo, and if so, will the colour last longer than the commercial dyes?
I have a botched home hair dye job. Wanted golden/coppery but got a ruddy brick red. If I use Indigo, will it pull the color down? Not looking to go black just a touch darker.
This is a complex question because we'd need to know more about what product(s) you used and we'd need a way to view the same color chart to know what color you want.
If you call our Help Desk at 330238-4097 or 330-673-0600 one of our staff will talk with you and help you decide what to do to get the results you want.
Indigo by itself doesn't give a good color. The "secret" to getting a good range of dark browns to black is the combined process of henna followed by indigo.
We recommend leaving the henna in your hair for three or four hours. Indigo is most effective when you apply it immediately (or at least, very soon) after rinsing out the henna.
...i dont know if you found out the answer yet, but it will turn your hair blue...the indigo holds on to the henna and after it oxidies or dries it turns black. Hope this answered your question
Thanks! I am looking to dye my dark brown hair naturally black. I have already dyed it black in a salon (not henna), but am afraid the henna may make it look toO black. Any suggestions?
I recently purchased some henna (Yemen) and it is for turning my hair a redish color. I am african amercian with a black natural hair color. Will this yemen be to bright for me? Will it be a drastic change? How can I prevent it from being to drastic?
We're not quite sure what you're asking. You can call us and talk directly with one of our staff who will be happy to help you. The number is 330 689 0725
Thank you for responding so quickly. My hair is natural black with a few grey strands. I just want the black to be more vibrant and glossy w/out drying my hair.
The answer depends on your hair color. The model in the video is our daughter, who has very dark brown hair. She does this process about every six months. The lighter your hair, or the more grey you have, the more frequently you might want to redye.
A couple of quick questions and thanks for the video!!.
Now she doesn't look African, so will this work on an African person? Also if you know you're going to apply the indigo after the henna will do you rinse the henna out and shampoo after the rinsing then apply the indigo or do you just rinse the henna out and apply the indigo immediately after?
O one more thing, is henna only used for coloring hair, are there any other perks for using it on hair?
Can you chemically process your hair a few days later afterwards, can you relax your hair?

Did it damage her hair, since she doesn't have African hair? Is it safe for everyone?
increasingmyiman 1 year ago
@increasingmyiman The fundamental makeup of all hair is the same however, hair textures differ and that is to some extent determined by race. The basic technique in the video will work for anyone, although you would have to adjust the ratio of henna and indigo depending on your natural hair color. For our clients who have densely curled hair, we recommend using a very finely sifted henna because the paste is easier to rinse out.
hennapage 1 year ago
i don't understand the title. "Dying African hair black"?
anyways i want to dye my hair jet black without having to use a developer. my grandmother used to indigo my hair because i was born with grays but i want to be able to do it myself. is it possible to do this alone? or is it too messy?
increasingmyiman 1 year ago
thank you for the instruction on how to use this. I really like my results it's very black but looks natural.
littleshoeshopper 1 year ago
thank you for the clip!!!! I have been going back and forth about using henna and main reason why I haven't use henna yet is because I'm scared of ending up with dark blue hair instead. So if after apply henna to my hair turns out a dark blue it will mature over the next 24 hours into deep black is that correct??
ninalabelle2005 1 year ago

- Thank you
myutubeusernamesux 1 year ago
@myutubeusernamesux The sooner you apply the indigo after removing the henna, the better the color. It's easier to apply the indigo paste to dry hair.

Ah, sorry I just saw your vanilla pudding idea as I've whinged twice on here about the consistency of my indigo.
I'm in the UK and not entirely sure what vanilla pudding is. Could you tell me? also, I would like to know if when I want to refresh the colour do I just use the indigo and no henna?
lipstickjunky 1 year ago
@lipstickjunky I had to laugh because I have no idea what the stuff we call instant pudding is called in the UK...instant custard, maybe?
If you're still having problems getting things to work for you, you can e-mail our help desk at helpdesk-at-mehandi-dot-com and one of our staff will help you work out a good indigo mix.
hennapage 1 year ago
Hi
I'm sat here with Indigo on my hair and it was the most difficult thing to apply that I'm not sure if I want to do it again! I mixed it just like you but it was gritty and fell off in little dry clumps no matter how much more liquid I added. I noticed yours is much more like clay and spreads. What do you think I did wrong?
lipstickjunky 1 year ago
Hi
I just dyed my hair with organic indigo for the 1st time today using the instructions from your site.
I was wondering if adding oil and honey to indigo will affect the process. I find the mixture a bit dry and would crumble a bit when applied.
I did mix it to the consistence in the video
2damnfunny 1 year ago
Try adding a heaping teaspoonful of vanilla pudding mix per 100 grams of henna. The pudding will hold moisture and give the paste more body and make it easier to work with.

Thank you very much.

Is there anything you can recommend to use with the henna besides lemon juice that is as effective. Lemon juice can be drying and I'm looking for something that is less so. Thanks.
littleshoeshopper 1 year ago
We've used lemon juice exclusively for many years and never found it to be drying, but
we're aware that some people believe it is.
If you prefer not to use lemon juice, any other
mildly acidic liquid will do as a substitute. Most other fruit juices will work for mixing
henna. Experiment on samples of you hair until you find something that you like.

I've read about some people using apple vinegar, maybe you like that better.

Thanks for your tutorials!
I want to dye my blonde hair black. I bought a plant based dye labeled "Black" that contains henna and indigo and some more plant-based ingredients in one powder. Would you say this will work, too, or should I use henna and indigo separately?
Rockadiroo 1 year ago
We can't tell you much without knowing the brand name and seeing the ingredient list on the package. Generally, we recommend that you avoid most pre-packaged henna preparations because they often contain chemicals or metallic salts and sometimes they contain ingredients that aren't listed on the package. You're safest if you buy good quality henna and indigo from a dealer you trust.
hennapage 1 year ago
It's "Sante". Ingredients: Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Algin, [+/- Lawsonia Inermis (Henna CI 75480), Cassia Auriculata (Cassia), Juglans Regia (Walnut Shell Powder), Indigofera Tinctoria (Indigo Leaves), Indigofera Argentea (Indigo Leaves), Rheum Undulatum (Rhubarb Root), Krameria Triandra (Rhatany Root), Coffea Arabica (Coffee), Curcuma Longa (Curcuma Root), Beta Vulgaris (Beet Root)]
I tend to trust the brand but I'm not sure if a mix will do as well as separate henna/indigo applications.
Rockadiroo 1 year ago
All the listed ingredients are safe, to the best of our knowledge. However, in our experience, simple applications of henna and indigo are the most reliable methods.
hennapage 1 year ago
Thanks! Appreciate your giving advice here very much.
Rockadiroo 1 year ago
I found that with both the henna and indigo that it was really grainy and kept falling off my hair in dryish lumps. I really couldn't have mixed it anymore. Its the first time I've used henna/indigo and would like to know if this is usual or if I have bought poor quality product. Cheers!
lipstickjunky 1 year ago
It sounds as if your mix might have been too dry to begin with. Try adding more liquid to the mix. Also, be sure you're using a good quality and finely sifted henna.
hennapage 1 year ago
This was my experience,. too, when I used plant dye for the first time. I had to stop the whole thing because it would just fall out.
I found advice to add more water, as hennapage already said, and I found some folks recommend to add some guar or xanthan gum.

what exactly are the results with just indigo, blue?
nyanin2 1 year ago
Indigo by itself isn't effective on hair, especially dark hair. It's the combination with henna that produces the range of colors.
hennapage 1 year ago
I have been using henna/indigo for about a year. Having problems covering my gray. I have used henna and followed up with indigo but it turned out jet black. I have also used a combination of henna/indigo...hair is black but not jet-blk. Is there any combination I can use to cover the gray but get dark brown instead of jet-black on my african hair? I also have amla powder. Please help. Thanks!
8Wheelsor2 2 years ago
Try mixing two parts indigo to one part henna to color your greys dark brown. We always recommend testing the mix on a sample of your hair first.
hennapage 2 years ago
can you dye it with just the indigo???
spareld 2 years ago
Indigo alone doesn't work. If you have greys, the indigo will turn them a pale bluish color.
hennapage 2 years ago
@hennapage that's the thing I don't have grey hair at all. I have dark brown and want jet black hair
spareld 2 years ago
Regardless of the color of your hair, indigo alone will not give you the results you want. The process shown in the video will darken your hair.

Henna powder can keep for about a year if it's kept cool and in an airtight container out of the light. Henna paste can be kept for a year in the freezer.

can u combine indigo and henna or do u have to follow with indigo after a henna application- if black is desired colour?

You apply henna first, then apply indigo after removing the henna.

will henna/indigo work on chemically dyed hair?

Yes, the henna/indigo process will work on chemically treated hair, but we recommend you test it on a sample of your hair first.

If my natural color is black, do I need to use henna and indigo to dye my grays black? I'd like to color my hair in a more natural way.
natrlchallenge 2 years ago
Henna and indigo in the right proportions will dye your greys black. This is the most "natural" method we know. You apply the indigo immediately after rinsing out the henna. If the greys aren't dark enough, you can do a second indigo application to get darker color.

I can't see what differece the henna has made at all because there is no before to compare it to.
I have black hair with quite a few grays and I want to see what the results would be after henna and indigo but there does not seem to be any good examples of this. Could the grays end up purple?

You should be able to apply henna immediately, but test first, because the results can be unpredictable following some types of processing.

Can you let the indigo sit for longer than 90 minutes for deeper and more lasting color?
betbet82 2 years ago
Indigo does its thing in 60 minutes. After that, the indigo will have oxidized and becomes inactive, so there's nothing to gain by leaving it in your hair.

Thanks for the quick reply! If I want to dye my hair with henna, then indigo to dye it black, how will the flat iron affect the black colour? Also, how often can henna and indigo be used? Can it cause damage like the commercial dyes? And lastly, how well will gray hair be covered by using henna then indigo overtop to get black? Your video and comments are most helpful. Thanks again!
adnamadraw 2 years ago
As far as we know, the iron shouldn't be a problem with the henna/indigo black-dyed hair. For the best results with covering greys, make sure an pressing oil or simila product is completely removed from your hair before you do the dyeing. Reapplication depends on the natural color of your hair and how much grey hair you have (grey hair grows faster than pigmented hair). Two to four weeks would be a good rule of thumb.
hennapage 2 years ago
Hi,
I use a flat iron fairly often to straighten my hair, but I've noticed that it makes my hair colour fade quickly when I use commercial dyes. Is it safe for me to use a flat iron on hair that's been dyed with henna/indigo, and if so, will the colour last longer than the commercial dyes?
adnamadraw 2 years ago
the heat of the iron will change the color of your hennaed hair. Generally speaking, the heat will cause the color to go from reddish toward brown.

I have a botched home hair dye job. Wanted golden/coppery but got a ruddy brick red. If I use Indigo, will it pull the color down? Not looking to go black just a touch darker.

why use indigo after henna. can i just use indigo?
KellyGreene08 2 years ago
Indigo by itself doesn't give a good color. The "secret" to getting a good range of dark browns to black is the combined process of henna followed by indigo.
hennapage 2 years ago
how long after the henna do i put in the indigo?
KellyGreene08 2 years ago
We recommend leaving the henna in your hair for three or four hours. Indigo is most effective when you apply it immediately (or at least, very soon) after rinsing out the henna.
hennapage 2 years ago
...i dont know if you found out the answer yet, but it will turn your hair blue...the indigo holds on to the henna and after it oxidies or dries it turns black. Hope this answered your question

SGmom2 2 years ago

Thanks!
Kshais 3 years ago
The model is mixed-race. Her natural hair is similar in texture to a high proportion of black women's hair, but less naturally curly.
Henna and indigo work the same way for all hair but for coarser, curlier hair we recommend using more finely sifted powders for mixing the paste.
Shampoo, rinse and dry after the henna application, then apply the indigo.
Henna binds to the keratin in hair and can make it thicker, stronger and glossier.

Indigo is a plant that contains a natural blue dye. When used on your hair after dyeing with henna, indigo will darken your hair color to deep black.

It's better to apply the indigo to dry hair. If the hair is wet, the indigo absorbs the water and gets drippy.
