  • lots of memories came to my mind now

    :)

  • wait a minute this universal pictures logo was from happy gilmore starring adam sandler

  • Universal 1987-2001

  • back when movies were good

  • @bAngoSkank100 good old times...

  • Also used on Back To the Future

  • Has this logo returned? I watched this year's "The Thing" the other day and this logo came on at the start and I grew excited because this logo is my favourite. Feels more real than the OTT animated one.

  • "Carlito's Way" and "Street Fighter" are The Best Universal Movies Ever.

  • Thank you, LS, for 24 seconds of my childhood! Universal's best movies started with this logo. When I see this, I remember "Casper", "The Little Rascals", etc.

  • Taken from Darkman 2: The Return to the Durant and Darkman 3: Die Darkman Die.

  • this was the best one

  • It's From Street Fighter (1994) Too. Except, the Globe Zoomed out, Right?

then the word "UNIVERSAL" and "A MCA COMPANY" Faded out. Then Street Fighter logo Cover the Globe

  • Taken from Carlito's Way.

  • Taken from Raising Cain.

  • This is 1991 Universal is look like Rated R.

  • Army of Darkness (1991)

  • from child's play 3

  • cop and half

  • Everytime I saw this intro I suddered, the music relaxes me beacuase I know that something good was preparing to come.

  • the current and this one right here are similar, itz just the bright lights that come on the globe and the water is more darker blue than this one!

  • This is what all true 90s kids remember watching before their favourite films started! I still wish they kept this one since the melody is so mesmorising!

  • We're Back '93

  • "12 Monkeys" (1995)

  • This Universal logo was the first I watched when I was a kid.

  • I remember this logo when you upload it from the 1994 movie ''The Shadow''.

  • when i was little, the majority of the movies i watched were from Universal and i just loved waiting for this logo to start..it's always in my head

  • I was born at that year and I love the old theme better than new ones

  • Universal Studios used to be such a powerful name to me. Now, its people I can't stand.

  • "Child's Play 3"(1991)

  • I remember this from "Babe".

  • I don't know why but I just get a bit teary eyed from the theme music to this logo.

  • Horner's Universal was very serene and sweet. Goldsmith's Universal simply reminded us in modern times why we go to the movies in the first place.

  • I still get a shiver from seeing this logo, minus music, at the start of Schindler's List. The new one just doesn't have the same "feel" to it.

  • I saw this in 'Backdraft'

  • My brother said he saw this logo from 'Balto'.

  • @mariomatt692 Yes it is seen in 'Balto.'

  • THAT'S the logo I remembered as a kid!

  • I have vivid memories of this logo from when I was seven or eight. The sight and sound of it always got me excited because I felt I was about to experience something strange and wondrous. It's hard to recapture that sense of wonder as an adult.

  • Universal Cartoon Studios Uses "The Land Before Time" Movies And Earthworm Jim Cartoon Series On Video In the 1990's. "The Land Before Time Films Have Got Vikings Or Tudors In The Great Valley Of France They Have People. No Dinosaurs In The Cartoon Movies.

  • Heh heh, a little old... :P

  • A very beautiful fanfare but I don't agree, James Horner is extremeley unoriginal. None the less, I enjoy his scores.

  • I always loved this version the most... but that could be nostalgia clouding my judgement.

I remember getting excited everytime I saw this pop up, thinking it was one of the Child's Play movies that my parents didn't want me to watch.

  • That music is beautiful.

  • This is the best movie company logo in the history of movie company logos

  • I really like the music.

  • This reminds me of Child's play.

  • @Rukia212002 lol me too! thats the only movie i know it with

  • @veggieeater The Universal Logo Was Plastered In The 2008 25th Anniversary DVD Of Child's Play.

  • I honestly think this Universal Studios intro kicks the shit out of the new one. This one has that catchy Universal music that I never get tired of...

  • This one doesn't top Goldsmith's theme. Not by a long shot.

  • @NeroBlack2200 Are you on crack? This shit BURIES Goldsmith's theme. It's the best fanfare of all the companies and all the eras. Viva James Horner!!!

  • @ErikPaulsonFan Goldsmith could outwit and out-write Horner from the grave. All Horner knows is how to crib from others and himself.

  • @NeroBlack2200 That's a pretty serious charge. Your evidence?

  • @ErikPaulsonFan Most of what Horner's written to date. Goldsmith had a range, a musical ingenuity, a creative insight, and a drive for originality that Horner doesn't. Period.

  • @NeroBlack2200 So your evidence is assumed then, I see.

I'll repeat what I said and what I believe to be true; Horner's score in this fanfare clip is the best fanfare score I've ever heard out of any company at any time so far. A simple glance at the comment history here will show that many agree with me, so I'm done wasting my time with you, especially if you don't back up your jealousy-fueled charges without even one example.

  • @ErikPaulsonFan While the examples are too numerous to list, I also didn't bother posting them because you're already stilted in your opinionated perspective. I could spend pages to prove you wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt and you wouldn't buy it based purely on bias.

And don't mention history in a discussion between these composers. The comments here may support your points, but Goldsmith's entire career supports mine.

  • @NeroBlack2200 That's where you're absolutely wrong.

What have I written that even suggests I wouldn't listen to you if you could prove it to me? I simply stated my belief (which is perfectly valid) that I think this fanfare to be the best of all time, and when you made your claims, I logically asked you to give an example. You gave none. You keep yelling and screaming about all the examples you have and the "pages" you could write, but you've done nothing.

    You're acting like a bitch :)

  • Totally Agree 100%

  • reminds me of Army of Darkness, hell yeah

  • The Cure

  • This is an excellent logo, and I think some movie studios just never learn when they replace excellent logos with bad ones. Just look at Columbia-Tristar and Live/Artisan. At least Universal didn't plaster their new logo over the better older ones, unlike the movie studios I mentioned.

  • ''The Little Rascals'' & "Beethoven's 2nd"

  • Jurassic Park

  • @Igneumtube that didn't have the theme

  • @Igneumtube

actually the Jurassic Park logo was with rainforest

sounds... so those 19 thumbs up should go to @laughingduck1000

because he got it right :) lol just sayin

  • as seen on "Liar, Liar"

  • and Lorenzo's Oil

  • Ah, the good ol' days. Their new logo sucks. ._.,

  • @dave55811

I prefer this old logo mainly because I think the music gives you a warm feeling in your heart as you begin to watch a family movie like: Babe or casper. Thank you james horner for composing this logo.

  • @dave55811 I agreed

  • @dave55811 The current logo now looks like a rubber ball more than anything else, despite it's professional-looking lighting effects.

  • @dave55811 i agree with you !!!

  • No. That has the Samuel Goldwyn logo.

  • No? Faugh! At least mine did.

  • Backdraft buddy think before you write!!!!

consider the year its titled (1991)= Backdraft?!

  • whenever i would see this logo as a little kid i would always think it was beethoven coming on because i would always watch beethoven over and over again

  • This reminds me most of "Babe" because I watched that frequently and that movie comes to mind most.

  • I know. It's the the old roaring Lion MGM logo in the 70s. I still like that one the best.

  • I swear Universal should take this intro

out in 2009 & 2010 and celebrate there what

100 anaversary it be a realization when I go to the theater again and say to myself even

though the new millenium logos suck

    one company got smart...

  • 2015 actually.

  • Why did Universal get rid of this beautiful logo?

  • Sometimes, you just need to know when to stop.

  • True, but still I like this logo better than the new one.

  • What I meant was: They should have stopped at this logo.

  • Yes we know but thanks for clearing

it out for the slow stupid people lol...

  • Taken from "Matinee."

  • or backdraft but doubt it...
