Has this logo returned? I watched this year's "The Thing" the other day and this logo came on at the start and I grew excited because this logo is my favourite. Feels more real than the OTT animated one.
Thank you, LS, for 24 seconds of my childhood! Universal's best movies started with this logo. When I see this, I remember "Casper", "The Little Rascals", etc.
This is what all true 90s kids remember watching before their favourite films started! I still wish they kept this one since the melody is so mesmorising!
I have vivid memories of this logo from when I was seven or eight. The sight and sound of it always got me excited because I felt I was about to experience something strange and wondrous. It's hard to recapture that sense of wonder as an adult.
Universal Cartoon Studios Uses "The Land Before Time" Movies And Earthworm Jim Cartoon Series On Video In the 1990's. "The Land Before Time Films Have Got Vikings Or Tudors In The Great Valley Of France They Have People. No Dinosaurs In The Cartoon Movies.
I honestly think this Universal Studios intro kicks the shit out of the new one. This one has that catchy Universal music that I never get tired of...
@NeroBlack2200 Are you on crack? This shit BURIES Goldsmith's theme. It's the best fanfare of all the companies and all the eras. Viva James Horner!!!
@ErikPaulsonFan Most of what Horner's written to date. Goldsmith had a range, a musical ingenuity, a creative insight, and a drive for originality that Horner doesn't. Period.
I'll repeat what I said and what I believe to be true; Horner's score in this fanfare clip is the best fanfare score I've ever heard out of any company at any time so far. A simple glance at the comment history here will show that many agree with me, so I'm done wasting my time with you, especially if you don't back up your jealousy-fueled charges without even one example.
@ErikPaulsonFan While the examples are too numerous to list, I also didn't bother posting them because you're already stilted in your opinionated perspective. I could spend pages to prove you wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt and you wouldn't buy it based purely on bias.
And don't mention history in a discussion between these composers. The comments here may support your points, but Goldsmith's entire career supports mine.
What have I written that even suggests I wouldn't listen to you if you could prove it to me? I simply stated my belief (which is perfectly valid) that I think this fanfare to be the best of all time, and when you made your claims, I logically asked you to give an example. You gave none. You keep yelling and screaming about all the examples you have and the "pages" you could write, but you've done nothing.
This is an excellent logo, and I think some movie studios just never learn when they replace excellent logos with bad ones. Just look at Columbia-Tristar and Live/Artisan. At least Universal didn't plaster their new logo over the better older ones, unlike the movie studios I mentioned.
I prefer this old logo mainly because I think the music gives you a warm feeling in your heart as you begin to watch a family movie like: Babe or casper. Thank you james horner for composing this logo.
whenever i would see this logo as a little kid i would always think it was beethoven coming on because i would always watch beethoven over and over again
lots of memories came to my mind now

I like the 90s logo best. Because I find the focus on the space painted with the stars, nebulas, and auroras to be more artistic than city lights.
And the music is more poetic than the bombastic newer one that I still like, but does not have as much humility to it.

Horner's Universal was very serene and sweet. Goldsmith's Universal simply reminded us in modern times why we go to the movies in the first place.
