pistons were fuckers, cuz they had about 8 guys who could be starting 5 on any other team, very deep, and could hack nonstop without being caled for it, i loved them bitch slapping jordan and seeing him whine
Still don't know how this guy wasn't named to the NBA Top 50. At the time that team was announced Shaq had only been in the league a few years and Pippen proved he was nothing without Jordan. Dantley should have been on the list before those two for sure.
AD a true SF him and BK . if he and Vinnie Johnson hadn't collided head first in a playoff game Pistons were on their way to their first NBA Championship AD was killin Bird and McChale. If you fouled him count it.
i really must not know basketball. his game hindered winning rings. that is why ike had him shipped out for aguirre. and I quote.."I will never forgive you for this.' that is what Dantley told Thomas the day he was traded for Thomas' friend and former #1 pick. 4 years later, dantley was out of basketball. you can't win with an iso and everyone else standing still. iverson was always talked about because of it. and he never won. now you guys praise this player...who never won?
I once played in a pickup game where Dantley was playing at Byrd Stadium while at Notre Dame. There was a big white guy who was nearly 30 and 2 or 3 inches taller than AD trying to check him. This guy slapped Dantley on the elbow 13 times in a row while Dantley was shooting. AD sunk every one of those shots and the guy who was trying to pick a fight with him just shook his head and shook Adrian's hand. I don't know if AD could have whooped his ass in a fight but his play sure did.
the reason he was traded was because he didn't fit in with the "bad boy" pistons at all. they cared about winning and he was more about stats. still one of my favorites though
Another of the underrated greats (except for those in the know). Dantley made Bird (and the Celtics interior D) his bitch. Celtics did win playottfs 'though against Pistons...
very unusual player. Only 6'5" (and that may be a stretch), couldn't jump, yet he was one of the greatest post scorers in basketball history. Every night he'd own guys a half-foot taller than him underneath.
On offense, yes. I watched Dantley a lot when I was a kid. He couldn't defend or rebound over my dead grandmother. That's one of the reasons why he was traded so much in his career.
AD was probably the best player I've seen at drawing fouls. He just had a knack for getting to the FT line. He would post up guys twice his size and still score.
Quite possibly the most underatted player...ever. He was like a 6'5 Kevin McHale with a better 1st & 2nd step. No disrespect to Marc Aguirre, but how much did that trade screw A.D. ?
Anyone that puts an A.D. highlight reel of this quality earns my respect... much thanks to you for your effort
That trade allowed Dennis Rodman to play more. A.D. was upset about that and was honest about it. I wish Davidson wouldn't have pulled the trigger until the expansion draft which they let Rick Mahorn go.
actually, the trade was made bcuz isiah thomas didn't like dantley bcuz a.d. was his own man who didn't bow-down 2 isiah like the rest of the pistons, so isiah pushed 4 the trade that brought n his friend & loyal com padre mark aguirre
my bad, my brother just told me the did so recently (still shame on them for doing so only because they didnt want to show they're true hatred by seing the H.O.F call recognize him before a lame franchise did)... 15 years from now lets watch Houston give Steve Francis the same treatment.
shame on utah Jazz for not trully recognizing a player and a man like this. last i checked they still havent retired his Jersey, instead theres Hornacek who'll never be a hall-of-famer (Knock on wood, seriously)
At 2:06 is a perfect clip of how he breaks the opposing D down. Also 00:04-00:25 r A.D. go to moves as well. A great player. Very underrated in my opinion.
Man im soooo happy for A.D. In this vid I tried to show his go to moves, how he causes havoc due to the attention he ALWAYS GET CAUSING THE DEFENSIVE TO BREAK DOWN N COLLASPE. Just a great player. I can watch this vid n other footage of him all day. He was that good. Congrats Adrian on a well deserve selection n induction.
@VeoShock The question is man... Who does NOW what Dantley did then?
Answer: No one
and no one can run that crap about how much more athletic these clowns are because they about as basketball savvy as computer controlled players in a video game.
A.D. was the truth and I truly pray to Jesus that C. Anthony and everyone else on that team will LISTEN to him. I HATE THE NBA now.
Man, Adrian was a scoring machine. This guy was just a beast on the offensive ends. He cause so much havoc for the Defense cuz u had to watch him at all times. A Dangerous threat anywhere on the court. A.D. congrads on making Hall of Fame. Well Deserve for a very underrated SUPERSTAR PLAYER. One of the best NBA players I EVER SAW PERIOD.
I grew up watching a.d playing for the utah jazz, never has a player gotten so much from such little athletic ability. When to his camp in university of utah when i was a teenager. Showed us how simple b-ball really is, and how he scored. fake right go left, vice versa, or jab step forward, back up defender and shoot, or other combinations of foot work, he is player that influenced my game most. Todays players rely on athletic talent. a.d did it with fundamentals
AD was a fucken scoring machine he was a beast
