I don't think she'd still be in business if the way she washed the dogs ears was that bad and causing ear infections for all her clients. She'd have lawsuits on her hands. Yes, water in their ears can cause infections but geez, are we falling prey to vet's money making schemes a bit too much? This dog's ears stand up, meaning that if she is just washing the outer ear, it will air dry naturally. If there's no hair in his ear, it will dry quickly too.

to clean the ears use a wet wipe and only clean around the inside of the ears, dont stick things down the ears drum, but there ear washes you can get from the vets, that removes any build up in the ears, more safe.

Well I'm no vet.

But the best thing I could say is that you're supposed to use it because it's made for dogs. Shampoo does more than just hair/fur. It does the scalp. Or in a dogs case, their skin. Animal skin is way sensitive and if given the wrong shampoo can get dried out and flaky, irritated/inflamed, or some other bad reaction. Dog shampoo is made for dog skin to prevent all the negative affects that human shampoo would have on a dog. So yeah. I'd recommend you get that dog shampoo.

Don't put shampoo in the ears. If the dog is a shaker, wash the head and ears first. water in the ear can trigger shaking.

As a groomer, I shampoo the face last and rinse the face first. I never put shampoo in the dog's ears. There's ear cleaning solution for that. However, if water and shampoo do get in the ears, the solution will get it out.
