hey there guys i have a 01 honda prelude and im thinking of adding a short shifter to it. I see a lot of short shifters and also short shifter kits. do i need the kit to install the short shifter or do i just need teh short shaft? thanks alot guys
Question for ya. I installed this short shifter on my 09 rex because i liked the look of it in your video. I got a rattle in the shift knob drove it without the knob on no rattles any ideas? Which knob do you have does it rattle? Mine seems to rattle only in second under accel.
@BONELESSHOOK Glad this video provided assistance for you. =) And yes, a friend of mine called me up a few months ago to tell me about the video being on Agency Power's website. I was impressed to see it. =)
@Thunderstryk For the price, I would definitely buy a short shifter! Gives such a better feel and glide in between shifts. The OEM tends to be extremely spongy.
Just as an add on comment, CHANGE THE BUSHINGS TO A POLYURETHANE ONE, the short shifter is awesome as an easy add on and trust me, the Urethane Bushings help a lot more for a solid feel and quick non binding short throw shifter.
@cianuro2008 I notice a lot of people complaining about the lighting.. but everything looks great on my end. All I know to do is adjust your monitor settings to increase the brightness to help. I apologize for any inconvenience to the viewers!
i bought the car with the short throw shifter but i watched your video to see how hard it was to put in. kinda wish i would have done it myself. and now i know how to take that hole console out! good video tho. a little dark but still great. much appreciated. i've heard SOA is pretty decent with warranty stuff.
On a better note.. I happen to know the guys at the local subie dealership extremely well.. and trust me.. if anything failed.. I would have no issues having it replaced under the factory warranty.
Thanks for the video it is very helpful. Quick question though, how do I remove the snap ring? I just bought snap ring pliers, my question is do I squeeze the snap ring together to remove it or spread it apart? Your additional tips and help would be appreciated. Thanks.
hey Hippo, make sure you squeeze the legs of the snap ring inwards to touch each other. Do not spread them. If you need anymore info that the video does not provide, please feel free to contact me. :)
No problem at all, Skippy. I'm glad I'm able to provide videos for the community. God knows this day in age everyone needs to be able to save some money thanks to the economy. I'll be adding more videos by the first of the year if everything goes according to plan! Downpipe, Intake, Exhaust, up pipe, catch can, and accessport are next on the list. :)
Sorry, I tried to brighten the footage at that particular scene, but that is as bright as I can get it.. From that point you'll probably need to adjust your actual monitor settings.
yeah I figured it out finally, there's a ring with two little holes you need a special tool in order to remove... took me a while --- clearing away all of the excess grease makes it a LOT easier to figure out once you're in there. once you get that part, you can install the shifter in about 10 minutes.
That would be the one. :) Glad you managed to do the install! Hope this video helped. I would also recommend the Perrin shifter bushings next due to how stiff the shifter is and will eventually wear you in when you're just cruising. The bushings will help soften it just enough to where you don't have to force so hard and pain your hand lol.
Dealers will always overcharge.. Honestly the average consumer doesn't have the knowledge and know-how to install these types of parts themselves, making it extremely easy for the dealer to make a quick mega-dollar.

I like this song! most people from the 80s enjoy music from around that time. I cant remember is this from the 80s or early 90?

I'm definitely an 80s baby lol. This song is from the 80s, though.

Let me guess.. you must listen to Rap? The song is not this video's purpose.. So I could care less what your opinion is.

Interesting video. Makes you wonder how badly dealers can rip you off whenever they do it instead of you.

Good point. In some situations, there are people who would even screw up the simplest jobs, so they're better off having someone else do it anyway.

Thanks for the video! I'm expecting my new short shifter in the mail tomorrow, this will make the change nice and easy.
What shift knob do you have on yours? It looks a lot like the Momo, but with a different cap.

I just noticed the tag says it's a Sparco Globe X knob.
