  • As a guitarist, this is really amazing to find this. For the technical side of things, id say it takes a massive amount of skill to be improvising at the speedhes at and maintain a rythm component. As for the more fundamental side, i would say that i hope this style becomes more popular. Truly deserves to be known. Perhaps Tomani will be the voice.

  • How is possible to play rhythm, melody and solo with 2 hands?!

    Toumani is master..

  • @kreuzbek Yes, not even two hands.. 2 thumbs & 2 fingers!

  • Have you ever heard of a piano for example?

  • @kreuzbek I'd like to see most guitar players so this... ;P

  • @kreuzbek Kora is played with four fingers only

  • What wonderful music and a wonderful smile!

  • haha aww i love this! hes so adorable and the music is so beautiful.

  • maravilloso

  • I am shocked and was completely unaware of all the racism on this page. We are all human, whether we like it or not.

The only thing closest to being inhuman is being racist.

    LOVE AND LIGHT TO EVERYONE

  • Sounds just like a mix between the guitar and harp.

  • @MinMorts I think you suck cocks

  • @MinMorts I see you have a vast command of the English Language. And that by the way is sacasm..

  • Beautiful music...unbilievable all this sound come from one instrument sumultaneously.

  • Welcome to Earth...a world full of division...a world full of war, but also a world full of people striving to become more.

  • Toumani makes a beautifull music...like many other musicians of Mali!!!!

im from Argentina and love african music, its music from the hearth!!!!

  • I,m fully agreed with the respons from r2d2007. O good example of tru music. leave the music of the west en enjoy tru misicians. A good moment to put it next to Trova music from Cuba.

  • The new Andreas Vollenweider

  • Beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL - I LOVE THIS SOUND XXX

  • HUMAN RACE ? Es una musica del cielo ! Seulment un dieu fait la. Man ho"rt die Engel. We tiny creatures have to unite ourselfs. God is groot.

  • this is music for the gods.may saraswathi bless u toumani

  • Happy and fool of love...this is how kora's sound make me feel.

    Just thanks.THANKS

  • That rapid running riff that he does in this song at intermitent intervals makes the whole composition. He actual ends with a slowed down version of the riff...but, then, he extends the song with a few improvised flourishes. I don't know if he erred in not ending with the riff or if he was moved to continued. Either way, the song is powerful.

  • LINDO ERES UN DIOS DE LA MUSICA, GRACIAS POR ALEGRAR LA HUMANIDAD CON TU FRESCURA...LASTIMA QUE NO SUPE QUE ESTUVISTE EN SEVILLA PORQUE ME HABRIA ENCANTADO ESCUCHARTE EN DIRECTO!!!! MUCHOS EXITOS.

  • Beautiful! <3

  • @vindicari we're different for those demons. And let it be. And may God bless Mali and it's rich and beautiful culture.

  • I've been a fan of Toumani and the griots of Mali for years. It taught my the beauty of an ancient tradition that even as a European, I feel like I'm part of it too. The musical style itself blurs the lines between rhythm and melody, you just have to let it wash over you.

Such intelligence and tomes of unspoken wisdom. It's like a time machine, but also timeless. It sometimes makes me think of Sundiata, the original lion king, the master hunter. Peace and love to all Africans.

  • Beatiful!

A ton of love from Stockholm, Sweden. De Blå

  • I don't recall where I first heard his music, but once I did, I knew I had to find out more about him. It's... it gets inside you. Into places where only the most amazing music can...

  • Absolutely stunning, the most beautiful music, really grabs at your heart.

And to all those racist idiots writing comments on here, why are you watching it then....it is easy for you to type abuse and nasty comments when you are hiding behind some silly user name, you are just showing yourselves up for the ignorant backward morons that you are.

Sit back and listen to this, it'll take you places. :)

  • nice !...

  • Paul Klee (from a 1924 lecture at the Bauhaus): "...chosen are those artists who penetrate to the region of that secret place where primeval power nurtures all evolution. (...) Who is the artist who would not dwell there? In the womb of nature, at the source of creation, where the secret key to all lies guarded."

  • @tenico101

You are truly an enlightened person.

  • @tenico101

this is the only truth - we're ONE mankind

  • @tenico101 nicely said!

  • @tenico101 No matter what is said racism will exist in the blood of people worldwide. Im african american and i play lacrosse at my school. i get racist remarks everyday but the will to survive and triumph pushes me, and all of us foward despite hate and cruelty. So i beilve theres no such thing as black or white for that seperates us. i do however beleive in brotherhood and sisterhood which binds us together

  • @tenico101 I should believe it, but I can't believe race was even brought up. It's totally irrelevant. This is beautiful music. The end.

  • @tenico101 I should believe it, but I can't believe race was even brought up. It's totally irrelevant. This is beautiful music. The end.

  • @tenico101 Yes my fellow human being, respect and LOVE from the U.K!!!!

  • Brilliant....

  • Close to Perfection. Close to God

  • wtf has god to do with that?

    Cheers to Toumani Diabate .

  • I love Toumani's music!

  • I think music is as natural as language, I imagine songs as are as old as homo sapiens itself so music was invented by humans and its universal but your point is valid, the greeks did contribute a lot to the arts

  • its probable that with the passage of "modern" humans out of africa across the southern end of the red sea around 100,00 years ago was carried out by people who already were singing dancing etc. europe was colonized quite a lot later, via south asia, the passage being made through the euphrates corridor. The flute found in southern germany is the first arcaheological evidence of a musical instrument., but it certainly wont have been the first actually made. i am white, and you are wrong.

  • Get your facts straight, please!!!! Not EVERYTHING is Greek.

  • It was an answer to "Junior1luv" that said music comes from black man in Africa and I disagreed with facts that Europe and white man invented music. If you disagree it's your problem just stay in facts and answer to my opinion. Not EVERYTHING Greek THE OLDEST INSTRUMENT...GERMANY READ PLEASE BELLOW my comments!

  • I liked your contribution until your last comment, which is truly ignorant. Music has been part of human kind since humans' begining. Africa was the craddle of human kind as we know it, going back 200,000 years! Which is previous to the Greeks or the Germans.

Keep on reading, but go back further in history. And besides, if anyone was to be considered as the "inventor" of music, it would have to be someone with good rythm, and when have u ever seen a good white dancer?... lol (a white fellow)

  • I don't believe this fairytales about Africa borned the 1st human and passed in Europe and became white, red in America, yellow in Asia, in Oceania brown and in Africa black.

In Greece we have the Archanthropus of Petralona 800.000 years!

but this does not mean anything black man invented jazz, blues, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Jimi Hendrix are music geniuses.

I just don't want to read inaccuracies.

  • Great White Dancers: Fred Astaire, Gene Kely, Michael Baryshnikov, Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Martha Graham, Erik Bruhn, Alicia Markova, Sylvie Guillem, Evelyn Hart, Vladimir Vasilev, Wayne Sleep, Ginger Rogers all the Russian Ballets and many many more.

  • with a comment like that i think you are the ignorant one my friend...i take it that because i'm white i have no ear for music produced or perfomed by a black person ?

  • hahaha, i'm a white fella too mate, and by the lol bit I hoped you would understand that i was joking about white people not being able to dance...

I think anyone can have an ear for music, be a great composer, performer or be a good dancer, independent of their color. Give to Caesar what is Caesar's...

    Peace my friend

  • Fantastic!!!

    Congratulation!!!!

  • @ killing da welfare mc"s,

His family has been playing the kora for 72 generations. That is more than ancient, that is evolution! If you want Afican, This is it!!

  • the origin of jazz right here...

  • Bela is a friend of my sister and my brother-in-law, and I got to hear them jam together with Edgar Meyer (Edgar's wife is one of the members of my brother-in-law's string quartet. I can promise you that you are in for a very big treat in Telluride! The kora is one of the most beautiful instruments you will ever hear.
