When we discovered the brutal dictators and Muslim fundamentalist extremists in the the area on top of planting Israel there. They stayed after Operation Desert Storm (Gulf War). Of course oil became a factor after OPEC decided to raise oil prices by 300% causing the economic collapse all over the world.

Take Germany when they invaded Norway as an example, Germany had a major military capability but they had much troubles with Norwegian resistant forces. However Taliban dresses like civilians, they hide in hard areas and use the element of surprise. They sell drugs to make a profit so they can buy weapons and continue.

NATO could eliminate Taliban that is true, but that would be hell for civilians... Taliban hides among civilians, using them as human shields and are hard to find... there would be more civilian casualties than soldiers and insurgents if they did that.

Afghanistan aren't ready to fight Taliban alone. Thats why we train their soldiers and at the same time taking out Taliban. We also focus on building schools and opening markets, regular troops are there as a security force; ISAF.

@MrSonne86 NATO / ISAF does not spend all their time to hunt. 80% of the time they patrol. To take down Taliban will take some time yes, but to rush it all would be more devestating. It would be alot more destruction, alot more civilian casualties, alot more caos... ISAF is a security assistance force who help Afghanistan, they help with training and supplies of necessary items as well as they try to maintain security and order.

I think what Danfung Dennis does is so amazing. When we discovered the brutal dictators and Muslim fundamentalist extremists in the the area on top of planting Israel there. They stayed after Operation Desert Storm (Gulf War). Of course oil became a factor after OPEC decided to raise oil prices by 300% causing the economic collapse all over the world.

If Russia had to join they would likely help the US with defeating Canada due to arctic territories which RUS are very interrested in. If we're there to win, why hasn't it happened? Why is it NATO's business meddling with other countries..? We're not their to help the Afghans. War is all about business. It took the US 5 years to defeat Japan. Apparently it takes over 10 years to defeat a bunch farmers with AK-47's? Today's wars are not meant to be won, they're meant to be sustained. I was a danish army seargeant, I was in the army for 7 years and deployed there in 2006 and 2009.. It's a waste of life and money.. Just saying!

The enemy have the capability of hiding among civilians, they got no uniform, they dress like regular people, they have the weapon of ambush and surprise. An AK 47 is still a deadly weapon, but you also forget other weapons; mortars, RPGs, LMGs, IEDs.
You gotta be a pretty bad Sgt, no offense, but I would expect you to know these kind of things... especially when you were serving there.

Take Germany when they invaded Norway as an example, Germany had a major military capability but they had much troubles with Norwegian resistant forces. However Taliban dresses like civilians, they hide in hard areas and use the element of surprise. They sell drugs to make a profit so they can buy weapons and continue.

NATO could eliminate Taliban that is true, but that would be hell for civilians... Taliban hides among civilians, using them as human shields and are hard to find... there would be more civilian casualties than soldiers and insurgents if they did that.

@MrSonne86 They are doing both parts but they focus more on security. If the chain command really didn't give a fuck about civilian casualties there would be 100x more civilian casualties. Afghanistan aren't ready to fight Taliban alone. Thats why we train their soldiers and at the same time taking out Taliban. We also focus on building schools and opening markets, regular troops are there as a security force; ISAF.

It would be alot more destruction, alot more civilian casualties, alot more caos... ISAF is a security assistance force who help Afghanistan, they help with training and supplies of necessary items as well as they try to maintain security and order.
