not as loud, maybe half? Not as much low end - the CLJ is really designed to be played pulled up for sure. Thanks so much for givng this a look....dale.
wow sounds amazing. are all hollow-body guitars this versatile? can they all play this well unplugged? if so, i need to get one. i need a warmer tone for my electric and it'd be nice to play unplugged to and be loud enough.
thanks for taking your time to listen! This is a very special and versatile guitar for sure, and i do think some archtops have a great acoustic quality and voice....in fact that's how some are played - without any pickup. They are a different style of guitar for sure and i think you will enjoying putting a few in your hands!
no just nickel which are a bit bright for me on this guitar - i would think bronze would be really bright - i like the flats on this guitar. Thanks for watching!
maybe a 59 neck - but not nearly as chunky as a lot of reissue necks i've played. Very comfortable neck - one of my favorite things about the guitar actually - thanks for watching!
How does one of these hollow body electrics feel to play? Is it closer to feeling like a electric to play or is it cumbersome to play like an old school acoustic? I really hate playing acoustic because of how big it is but I like the idea of playing unplugged without an amp. I'm still kinda new.
this guitar feels very comfortable to play and doesn't feel at all like an acoustic guitar. This guitar is a thinline so it is about as think/deep as a LP. All the best with your music,
Thanks. I was thinking about using 10-48 with the G string wound, which is ej20. But perhaps 12 is better. Don't want problems with the neck of t he guitar though.
sure appreciate you watching and thanks for the very kind words........you sir are a great player! I enjoyed several of your videos. Thanks for watching,
Hey great job, i love your new thing of just doing guitar it shows yoru true talent but one request if i may have it is some more vids with your son like AC/DC or led zeppelin if you do follow my request then if its not asking too much i would love to see you adn your son cover ten years gone by led zeppelin. Absolutley incredible job and i look foward to seeing more vids.
wow. no loss of quality as you work up the neck! I'm no expert on guitars for sure, but that one sure suprised me unplugged. BTW you could score some brownie points for a full cover of that America tune you touched on. ;)
hello, i really appreciate you giving this a watch and enjoyed reading your feedback......thanks! I've actually been thinking about a video of that tune....appreciate that suggestion! All the best,
Of all the guitars I have seen you play, this one has a special sound to me. Of course I am partial to archtop guitars. This is one of the best I have heard.....Roger
hello Roger, hey i just watched your "In The Garden" video again......wow smooth and peaceful sir. That was on eof my dad's favorite hymns and sure was great to hear it through your guitar! Thanks for stopping by....your friend,
Think I'm a-gonna check your channel, too, but it will take some time, by now I just watched a few. I think the young drummer is your son, isn't he? Great talent!
Amazing playing, Dale. It almost sounds as good unplugged. The highs are great but the lower strings have that rubberband sound, IMO. Like I've said before, you could make a rubberband on a styrofoam cup sound good.
Doing well. So what is your take on the unplugged sound? It seems to lack real projection, but then it only has f-holes, so it is to be expected. Right? The highs are great but the lows are not quite there. -Rob
the guitar is a thinline archtop so as you might expect the low end is not what a
'normal' depth archtop might be. Is really not designed to be a purely acoustic guitar, hence the floating pickup, but it does have amazing acoustic qualites.
My take is i bought it to be plugged in and played out, the acoustic qualities of the guitar blow me away but it would not be a 'stand alone' without amplification guitar.
How loud is this compared to your AT16?

Sorry I meant the third. I am confused cause there are more than just one type of d'addario ej21.

the G string is wound on this set. EJ21 Jazz Light 12-52 is what i am using here. Thanks again,

that would be a bit of a change and might require some adjustment of your neck but i would suspect it would be harmful to your guitar.

The guitar sounds really good and your playing is amazing too. Is the 4. string wound on that D'addario set of strings?
