  • Its also nice that big battles are epic for real! :D :D :D

  • Its nice that they made the voice acting realistic instead of holewoodish.

  • LEAVE NO SURVIVORS!!!

  • enemies coming down from above!

  • Flanking maneuver clever, along with dividing red's forces, Rome conquered Europe with the tactic "Divide and Conquer"

  • smallest battle n.a!

  • All of this for a shitty asteroid...

  • @micah9639 Hell yes, welcome to war. "We attacked because they were there." "You lost a whole fleet..." "Well yeah but they were THERE..."

  • did anyone else notice that the voice for the TEC anouncer guy is dif than full game?

  • I love seeing the Advent lose for once. Of course, that's what usually happens when they don't use their two biggest and cheapest advantages: overpowered Carriers and the "Battle Ball" crap with their Shield ships...

  • Stardock is awesome....These games are without DRM 's so you can rest assure you wont have DRM issues with your computer. If I buy games they are DRM free ones!!!

  • Battle was over before it began, red was outnumbering teal and had defense to aid him.

  • This is makes me remember the battle of coruscant

  • chess game from the future :) this is really a true rts because i actualy requires planing

  • does this have land troops?

  • @mintman777 No, its all in space if thats what your asking

  • i love sins of a solar empire, the huge space combat and what not. Although i still long for the day where massive space fleets clashing, will also be coupled with dropping forces onto the planet and leading armies in urban or wide spread battles for the planet. Sorta like starwars empire at war....but better?

  • This Light Shall Cleanse

I know this is TEC and Vassari but Advent is the best even when are not even involved in a match LOL

  • @farmdog45 either vasari or advent for me-advent has that awesome capital ship that can control an enemy ship except for capital ships. when is the new dlc coming out.cant wait.

  • @noobspartan117 I like the Unity Cap ship that colonizes better as well. With vassari or tec i will take a battle ship and use colony frigate but the impregnator mother ship or w.e its called has good abilities. Damage amplification and shield regen is amazing

  • yeah, is that rock crucial or was it just by coincidence that your fleet was stationed there? then again all additional sectors/systems are crucial now especially in mid-game...just asking no offense intended to you or your game style...nice vid btw

  • OMFG. why was that such a beautiful damn video. i cant wait until rebellion comes out. everyone who is already playing this game knows that rebellion is going to be the shit!

  • damn the blue capitol ship got destroyed nasty status.

    fucking destoyed the blue team.

  • A fleet admiral: why is there a floating rock outside???

Ships ensign: sir that's an asteroid

Fleet admiral: oh it's coming toward us awfully fast dontcha think??

    Ensign: aaaaaahhhh shi..........

  • @thesexbomb94 lol

  • id just be role playing and yelling at myself ALL SHIPS TURN TO BROADSIDE!!!

    yes im that sad :)

  • @wigster600 Wouldn't we all?

  • Wanted to grab this but damned visa gift card wouldn't work on their direct download. Had to settle for Sword of the Stars, though I do have X3 TC to tide me over..

  • For people who are having lag problems, it is due to memory leaks and the engine rendering all objects instead of only the needed ones. Try out the "The Sins Optimization Project" (TSOP) mod on the official forums site. No changes in gameplay or stats, and no VISIBLE changes in graphics. Many bugs resulting from typos are fixed and some memory leaks are fixed. The textures are reduced in size and complexity (no visible loss in quality) to reduce the footprint.

  • Our Hamachi server:

  • I hate the voice actors for TEC. They sound like bored nerds and Caboose from Red vs. Blue. I suppose in the future it will be the nerds flying the space ships, but still. I demand manly voices in my pew pew space game.

  • @ShastaMonster I have an idea, how about you make your on game with an awesome voice actor or shut up and stop complaining.

  • Protect the asteroid Penal colony at all costs!

  • epic background music!!

  • Thumbs up if CmdrTobs is a retard...

  • what mod are u using???

  • PEW PEW PEW

  • @iSamtana I LOVE PEW PEW PEW!!!

  • @GalGamJD you should check out sword of the stars and sword of the stars 2 coming out 09/02/11 sword of the stars is better than sims and combines X4 and homeworld 2 style combat which is awesome!

  • @blaster915 oh thats q good idea im waiting for that too!

  • Homeworld 2 or Sins of a solar empire? I didn't play any of them, but I need an answer, and why you chose it.-

  • ive just got this, just on the smallest game at the moment, great game glad i got it,is ther a way to increase the population cap? or does it stay just at 100,with half of that taken up by ur capital ship, so far all ive got is a capital ship and a few other ships not a massive fleet or anything, do you research more population or something?

  • @Luminouskebab You need to upgrade Fleet Logistics and the supply capacity. You can also use this to increase the number of capitalships you have.

  • @AdmiralHoth ye k i worked it out just after i posted that comment before, its on research ye thanks anyway

  • @Luminouskebab yes its fleet capacity

  • guys what is that game where u can make an alien out of a green blob, and take over different galaxy and planets like in this game?

  • @Jimbo86GR you talking about spore?

  • I wonder if I can have this good of a picture on my computer....probably not. I wonder if it would even run.

  • quick question, when will a space rts involve the camera view of the capital ships bridge, I mean- come on! who doesn't want to be on the bridge of their largest warship and bellow those words, FIRE! :D and then watch the cannons blast right outside the front windows out into the opponents ships in the distance :D

  • @blaster915 there is one game ya can play where ya can fly massive capital ship but its more sim tape but ya can command fleets on it its called X3 Terran Conflict. Any ship in that game you can command or fly :D

  • @KTRD88 sounds sweeeeet!!!!1 il check it out :D cheers!

  • @blaster915 Star Trek Bridge Commander

  • @blaster915 like in star wars 3 revenge of the sith

when the (I dont know how hes named in english) "Handelsföderations" Guy is roaring "FIRE FIRE!!" and all batterys go XD

PS: I dont think you understoodd me

  • @Xall1996 i dont understand, but the context its in, i can get the message :P and yes... i would be screaming that at my computer screen if i was on the bridge of my flagship capital :D

  • @blaster915 You can do that in Fallout 3 Mothership Zeta. The battle ends with the most spectacular spaceship explosion you've ever seen. It's just awesome.

  • @blaster915 Holy crap! I've had that idea for so long! I know it is a bit late to respond but EXACTLY!

  • @blaster915 *drools have to agree -like a captain view toggle icon.*drools and click on the ship u wanna go first person on.*DROOLS AGAIN.

  • @blaster915 There's a game like that, its called star-trek bridge commander

  • @blaster915 You mean something like X3?

  • @blaster915space fights might not look like this.

  • @blaster915 all they need is a battlestations space :P

  • @blaster915 Play X3 TC

  • @blaster915 Shortly followed by a KA FUCKING BOOM! like the american guy sais in cod :P

  • @blaster915 I know dude.. im playing Eve ONline right now.. and i cant stand that u cant walk around my ship and watch it fill up with ore or something...

Actually the fact that I was looking around for that is what brought me here. Every space game fails so miserably at the bridge view option. Either having none or doing it so poorly it wasnt worth having.

  • @Sicj only one that i have seen is bridge commander, the game standalone is dated... but with a fantastic modding community you can stand up, walk around the ship etc... get the supermod with it :D. i know its not a true RTS but ya... its still badass.

  • looks like a nice game

  • *Also gravity, I apologize for leaving out the word gravity. Happy holidays.

  • I think it would be better if sins have a story or campaign mode...

but the game is still superb.,

  • LOL! I actually tried to scroll the game screen :P I love this game.

  • The ship exploding at 2:14 is epic

  • Nothing like a good bomber zerg!

  • I fucking love this game. 'Nuff said.

  • I never got into this game. Every time I loaded it up, I just wanted to play Homeworld instead :|

  • What graphics card are you using? It looks way better on your computer than mine!

  • what's the recording program you're using?

  • get the graphics mod it makes gunfire and explosions even more detailed

  • I just got this game from a friend, He said it sucked, but I'm new and it's keeping me entertained. I'm still learning all of the little tricks and secrets. I don't know/play many free form space RTS, so it's a nice change of pace.

  • seems boring as fuck!!

  • @erionmema1 Your comment is boring as fuck.

  • dayumn!!! you have a shit load of credits and materials!

  • This game sucks at first i was OMG awesomess, then i was like 4 hours and the match was only starting it takes like 16 hours to finish something.

    The advent are ridicously overpowered

and when you put bases and loads of canon is a masive tie till somone uses its own superweapon

the buildings take so long to be destroyed that a cannon beats all ships ecxept the broken fighters bombers And your oponent can cross the entire map and you would have only destroyed 3 buildings and lost half fleet

  • @0Kelman0 well, that is nothing like you say.

First the advent arent overpowered, they dont have Refineries, and are very slow at the beggin of the game... they are all balanced.

And then if you have troubling in destroying structures its because your tactit isnt working, 'cause I dont have that kind of problem.

And then bombers arent broken, use fighters against them, and to destroy fighters there is a type of ship to do that job. TIp: Destroy Ships-cannons-structures in this order.

  • this game is great though waste my time a lot T___T

  • are there bombers like in homeworld

  • ok. i have many questions.

1: does this game have alot of micromanagement?

2: is it worth buying? more than anno 1404?

3: my computer is very very crappy. would this work on a bad pc?

4: are the people playing this jerks who wont answer my questions.

i was joking with the last one, i understand if you dont answer.

  • @srry4beatinu

Its worth 1,2 & 3 your pc may not work with it, its a vista one i think not sure and no we arnt all jerks , just a lil slow :P

  • @pottersmarauders thank you!!

  • I hate it when you always stumble across a stupid fucking Gas Giant,so I just fortify my original planet,do all the possible research, amass three fleets and begin conquest from there.

  • @fixdeluxe1

Wow , you play a lil like me but ive usually taken one or 2 settlements just to get trade ships going aswell as a broadcast network , takes pressure off of main world :D

  • @pottersmarauders Yea,because if you are too busy trying to build up three planets when you could maximize your efforts on one,it yields much better results.

  • You CAN zoom in closer you know.

  • Oh my god a giant rock! Its a rock and its giant!

  • maaaan i love this game but its pretty repetitive. This is the BEST game to play once* with each race.

    ps Advent r@pe.

  • I downloaded the game of recommendation, this game looks fucking hard! =S

  • the giant rock is sheilded!!!!!

  • I think the bigger the ship the faster !?!?

  • @Mdeil20 not true; like ships on water they have to be propelled forward by engines proportional to their size, otherwise they'd drift. That's why small submarines are really fast and cross oceans quickly while aircraft carriers are incredibly slow by comparison. In space it's virtually the same thing; without large rockets to correct course satellites and shuttles they'd drift off into nowhere.

  • the allied fagget has arrived?

  • SOASE needs a campaign. Now.

  • lol at chenzo171. Anyways i love games like this but also i saw a star wars game that looked better and u can have ground battles and space battles like this for pc, which should i get?

  • @Masterdustin101 Well the game I believe you are talking about "Star Wars Empire at War" has an actual campaign where you fight as the empire and follow the original star wars old trilogy story but with the empire winning at the end or the rebels and follow the whole story like in the movie. The game also has an expansion when you fight as a organized crime syndicate in the middle of the star wars story. Sins of a solar empire is a really fun game but has no set campaign.

  • cool

  • If they damage the huge asteroid and discover it's core is made of Oreo's, they'll send everything!!!

  • @AlexKrycek411

"My God, it's full of Oreo's!!"

  • that was badass when the capital ship blew up in the middle of like 6 kodiak heavy cruisers ( 2:22 ). How come in the beta the voices sound cooler like inbound hostiles and hostile forces have arived sound like radio transmissions and a lot more realistic?

  • jeezz whats ur resolution??!?!

  • to sum up:

Physics in Homeworld 2, SotS and SotSE are unreal concerning movement. The ships have to brake in order to stop. In order to brake they have to turn, since their engines face in one direction. They don't turn. They just stop as if they were in atmosphere.

  • awosme game just i cant play it on this kut pc

  • Just wondering...What Res is this played at?

  • this game biggest impression to me is the music. imprinted into my mind for 2 years now

  • how do u get them all to travel at once my ships only go in one at a time or at least 2

  • too bad the ships just dissapear when they blow up would have been awesome seeing the ships torn appart :(... still i'll try the demo version of this

  • @Sacroxx when u zoom in there are part of the ships

but if u got some upgrade those parts can be harvested for money

  • lame mod u got max resurces-.- I like playng normal but i enjoied the gameplay

  • Any1 know if supcom is better?

  • haven't really played this game before, just wondering if it's possible to remove all the grids from the view??? They really spoil the view and makes it look like a chessboard game! lol

  • Yes you can remove the grid.

  • when you zoom in, they removes

  • its possible to remove most stuff in the options menu

  • I kinda feel like getting back into RTS games, i havent played one since Age Of Empires 3, this one looks like a good one to do that.

  • Has anyone here mentioned Sword of the Stars? If Sword of the Stars had more detailed planet-building and better graphics (say, SOASE-style), it would be sooooo epic. I think I like SOTS combat more though, I really enjoy watching ships fall apart piece by piece. That was one of the few things SW: EAW got right.

  • Sins win IGN's pc game of the year lol :D

  • Well, I got, its a definite time killer thats for sure. But it gets a bit boring dragging itself on and on. Starts getting dry after a few battles.

May have been better if there were some campaigns involved or something.

  • This cmdrtobs guy is a complete frigging hater. Gtfo noob this is a sins video not hw2

  • I don't hate anything, I couldn't care less. Just annoying when fan boys lie about the strengths of a game to make an exaggerated comment to win 'thumbs up' from other fanboys.

If people said, look this game is awesome because of its strategic vastness etc... then that could be accurate. We could have a conversation.

But saying it has better tactical battles than a game that is nothing but a tactical battle engine is a LIE.

Its like saying GTA is a better 'driving' game than Gran tourismo.

  • Well I like both of the games, I went from HW series to sins of a solar empire. And I will not say that homeworld had better tactical battles than sins.

    It's just.... different.

In both games you have to keep a eye on your ships, and keep on moving them constantly. And in sins there is a point in attacking from the sides and back too, each ship has guns attached for attacking different angles.

But this really only matters in Multiplayer, In single player the AI is too stupid in sins.

  • I have played both. And many others like Nexus etc....

Sins has a much less sophisticated tactical combat model than Homeworld or Nexsus. That's just a HARD fact.

What Sins does have is grand strategic scope, which is what makes it compelling.

But fanboys (look below) "OMG the tactical battles are better than game X,Y,Z"

Basically, if sins was restricted to essentially a battle around 1 asteroid colony you saying that's greater than homeworld? Greater than nexus? Utter nonsense.

  • I know, I'm agreeing, I'm not at all against you. Those people below are most likely just SP sins players and don't know the actual Great/Fun part of sins of a solar empire.

  • Funny, I've played HW 1 & 2 extensively, and one of the frequently used strategies was ganging up on them more powerful ships first. In fact, it's a valid war strategy. In regards to the graphics, this game allows more ships in battle, renders a massive universe with multiple planets and looks damn good doing it. And how do you know the physics engine is terrible? How cam you even tell?

  • Physics are terrible because ships all have similar inertia irrespective of there visual size when manoeuvring.

ofc focused firing is a tactic. But ships in HW all had different physics and firing arcs as well as un-uniform armor.

Notice how ion firgates had like 50% HP when hit from behind? Notice the firing arc of the interceptor was nothing like that of the multi gun corvette?

These things meant there is actual tactics beyond "spell" buttons and focused fire.

  • Funny, I recollect ships bumping into each other and going through one another whilst playing HW quite often. Fighters could also turn on a dime. Ships have firing arcs in Sins as well, it just doesn't model rear-damage; which most people didn't care about anyway. Focus fire was the recommended strategy. Furthermore, who has time to manage a z-axis in Sins? Particularly when you could be fighting 3 battles on several fronts? You think I have time to manage that on this scale? LOL!

  • Small fighters like Defenders could ofc turn on a dime. The point is in sins is not that they don't have firing arcs its all the firing arcs are the same.

Agreed You don't have time to use the Z axis, its a different game. Thats really my point. It pains me when I hear fanboys lie to people who have not played sins saying the combat is "better than homeworld"

Its like saying Battlefield 2 is a better flight simulator than Falcon 4. Not the case irrespective of which game you prefer.

  • @CmdrTobs funny, i thought it was a computer game

  • EXACTLY IDIOT. You just outlined my point.

  • Zerging one enemy at a time isnt strategy... its tactics...

  • Yeah took me 6 hours... I dont see why your bashing the "Tactics" either, most strategy games are similar, except the ones all about tactics...

  • @enCODed3

Larger ships would be slower in space. Mass is always conserved in space it is weight that dsnt exist. Therefore a larger ship would take larger engines to move it, making it relatively slower. Therefore the physics in Homeworld are perfectly fine and if we're gonna be picking at physics, sound can't travel in space so lets face it, both games would be pretty boring if they followed physics to a tee.

  • you raped that guy. haha

  • Even more so is the fact that there is nothing to refract light off of in space... so basically you won't be able to see a laser beam being fired at other ships if you're going to follow physics to the T. enCODed3's comment was one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen on youtube, and that really says a lot.

  • Bigger ships have bigger engines, so they would probably move at the same speed.

They have a cap on their turning speed however, because a longer ship has larger g-forces produced at the end when it turns, so it can only change direction so fast before the passenger's heads explode.

  • @CuppehCakeJay You say that as if you know how it would work when we have not sent anything bigger then life pod to the moon. The truth be told we are still learning so much about physics and space. We do not even have any type of space travel abilty beside jet engines. The idea of man are only theriose tell they have been proven. You want to argue over sci-fi.

  • @CuppehCakeJay Hell Maybe you so complan how fast the Deathstar moved in Star wars. Being about to track the million falcon in a few hours Star wars time. See how silly it is to make physic clams over sci-fi.

  • @CuppehCakeJay Ahh, that's not actually true. In space, there are no forces to slow you down. Once you reach a certain speed, you can stay at that speed forever. The difference is that the more mass a ship has, the less acceleration you get for the same amount of force. So a big ship and a small ship can go the same speed on the same engines, but the small ship will accelerate to that speed faster. The realistic difference between a big and small ship is in maneuverability, not their speed.

  • @DSMatticus that's why rail guns would be devastatingly affected in space >:D

  • @CuppehCakeJay not necessarily slower.... less acceleration per force applied

  • @slipcock21 Still better then a bysicle in space.

  • @CuppehCakeJay yeah but about the sound, obviously they are using some sort of wireless transmission to transmit the sound...

  • @CuppehCakeJay sound is basically for the benefit of the player. i dont think i would like any of the star wars games if there was no battle fx :(

  • @CuppehCakeJay If you want to get technical; It would take larger ships longer to speed up, the only limiting factor in space is the speed of light. Acceleration of larger ships would take longer, but as they would be able to carry much more fuel they may, in fact, be able to reach higher speeds before they exhaust their supply, but in a short drag-race the smaller craft would steam past larger ones with ease.

  • @CuppehCakeJay

    Sound does travel in space....

    i've seen Star Wars ^^

  • @StubbornFromTheStart lol

    Suuuuuuuuuuure it does

  • @StubbornFromTheStart : Star Wars is fantasy. Read a book.

  • @Nagneto : I read plenty of books actually, want a book report? Also well done and thank you for pointing out Star Wars in fantasy, I had always thought it was a real life doumentary, you have opened my eyes....What i originally wrote was an attempt at humour but clearly I have failed. Either way i still don't understand your reply that has been directed at me. Yes, Star Wars is fantasy but why are you telling me to read a book? It makes no sense and has very little to do with anything.

  • @CuppehCakeJay In space there's no sound, at yet BOOM. lol

  • @CuppehCakeJay

Larger ships wouldn't be slower, they would have slower acceleration. Just takes em longer to reach a given speed. But yea, completely realistic physics wouldn't make for the best game.

  • @CuppehCakeJay

You may be a nerd , but you are basically on the money :P

  • @CuppehCakeJay You don't even need engines to move around in space. You just need them to give you a slight push.

  • @MessiahComing Engines help if you want to get anywhere anytime soon :P

  • @CuppehCakeJay Thats why i use large Ships only for Planet defence :D

  • @CuppehCakeJay The ultimate determination of how fast a ship would travel in space is the amount of reaction mass it has. while it would reach it's maximum speed slower than a smaller ship, it's ultimate speed would be faster.

  • sound cant travel in space? no it cant but transmissions arent sent that way :)

  • @TheDARIEN54321 But there is gas in space

And sound is moving air, gas= air.

So sound is possible in space

  • @ryancolemanstudios space is a vacuum; there is no gas in space so sound which is a wave cant travel through it

  • @Villacarte No.

Stars for from gas, and there's billions of stars.

    And space isn't empty.

like I said, Sound is moving air molecules.

    And air is gas.

  • @ryancolemanstudios although there is gas in space, its quantity is minimum, so still there is no sound... we could almost say that 99% of space is vacuum. For example, in space if an astronaut knocks a shuttle from the outside, the guy that is inside can hear the knocking, but the guy from outside de shuttle can't hear it.

But anyway, playing a space game without sound would be pretty boring... And if this troubles you, just imagine that you have ears in every ship.

  • @championofgods So if interstellar gas is so little (not counting nebulas and whatnot), wouldn't sound actually be very, very muffled? Just chalk up the rest of the noise to audio amplifiers.

  • @CuppehCakeJay no wrong very wrong it would take longer to get to top speed but with out any friction a capital with a frigate engine would have the same top speed

  • @CuppehCakeJay also a larger ship in space could be moved by a tiny model rocket engine it would take a REALLY REALLY REALLY long time to get up to speed but with out any friction at all the top speed is completely depended on the engine not mass learn a little thing called physics dip

  • @CuppehCakeJay dude did you ever see the video (in youtube) that an austranaut, in the Moon, drops a feather and a hammer? Guess what they go at the same speed. this happens becuase isn't air/ atmosfer in the moon, meaning that doesn't exist inertia actuating on the objects. The same is true for empty space. 2 ships, with diferent mass, but with out inertia or the gravaty efect, the one with more engenies would be faster. :P
