the most popular theory about this song is that it's based on michelle nolan, john nolan's sister. but i don't know if it's true... it kinda makes sense it you think about it.
the lyrics: well i wrote your name and burned it to see the color of the flame and it burned out the whole spectrum as if you were everything mine just burned gold a normal flame and i am.. not anything and all that i remember is the feeling of waking up when we were kids you were the sun to which my eyes could not adjust when were kids i was a fountain and you could never drink enough then came all the boys who swept you up who played careless with your heart and everynight there
i met him once. after he opened for dashboard here in O-Town. I wouldn't call him an asshole, but he was a bit standoffish. I saw him at the bar after brand new played and shook his hand and told him their set was awesome and he just stared at me like i was an idiot. I don't know if maybe i caught him off gaurd or something but he definitely wasn't welcoming. I still love his music but that encounter just kinda put me out. either way i'll be a fan for life.
He's not an asshole, just super shy. He doesn't do many interviews for that reason too. And if you happen to win a chance to meet him there is a rule imposed that you're not allowed to bring cameras.
So not an asshole and he doesn't deserve to be called such.
Yeah I totally agree. I met him after their show in Honolulu, he was super modest and seemed genuinely grateful that we had come to their show (which remains the best concert I have ever been to). I also found out about the no camera rule, I asked if he would mind if I took a picture, and he pretty much just said: "Yeah, I kinda do, actually."
But he didn't say it in an asshole-y way; it was just clear that it was something that he didn't like, and I totally respect that.
Jesse... in the morning eating pancakes. I could wake up every day to that.

i really loved how they explained the songs and talked about funny stories throughout the concert. i particularly enjoyed kevin's "soul raped" bit.
