I bought my SNES for $20 at a flea market. It came with super Mario all-stars and the snes is in near mint condition. Still has original stickers. Best part is it's an original model.
My SNES was the first console I bought with my own money. I decided back then that any new console I bought I'd make sure I kept the packaging in mint condition. I know most people don't care about that kind of stuff but I always get a thrill when I buy an old system or game that still in it's original packaging intact.
You know, just because it's in good condition doesn't mean it wasn't used. I used mine heeps and it still looks brand new. I just took care of it.
Damn dude, that's a great find. The yellowing is one of the reasons I haven't purchased an SNES again. It just looks so disgusting when it's discolored.
Awesome find duuuuude.those 3rd party controllers are shit tho i bought them by accident off ebay years ago. they don't work right and the wires are way too short.the super nintendo is indestructible i've had mine for almost 20 years its been hooked up for as long as i've had it.its yellow, its chipped and its dirty lol.but it still works perfectly.and i've never cleaned it once.pop a game in, works every time.
@KrackHead1231 These 3rd party controllers are pretty close to the originals. The only major difference is that the start and select are plastic and not rubber.
the yellow is from the different plastics they used The Super NES, containing flame-retardant chemicals. Over time, the plastic will age and discolor both because of these chemicals as well as from the normal heat generated from the product or exposure to light. Because of the light color of the plastic of the SNES and NES, this discoloration is more easily seen than with other darker plastics like N4 and the Nintendo GameCube.reason top and bottom are different because different amounts used.
@james42519 the one you have now was made later so they changed something in making it so it didn't discolor like the other one. the reason it isn't discolored isn't because it wasn't used it is because they fixed it by adjusting the additives in the plastic. some discolor on the top, some discolor on the bottom, some discolor on top and bottom, some don't discolor at all. it all comes down to luck. when did these get hard to find though?
Sweet man I noticed that S-Video cable right away. SNES is in great shape and Stoneagegamer rocks! How do those new controllers feel? They really do look just like the stock ones.

If I wanted to see someone hiding a snes under a wrinkled white shirt, I would watch footage of the LA riots.

It yellows because of UV (sunlight) damage. I have a boxed SNES. Mint condition and complete. You have a damn nice unit!!!
Check Goodwill.com for games and stuff.

Luckily I, as a BIG retro gamer, have both an SNES and SNES Jr. in about as great shape as that.
