  • The outro song is killer :S

  • Those fanned frets.

  • close minded musicians are a cancer on society. there's no reason to hate on any of these featured artists, obviously if they're here they're legit. comparing andy mckee and periphery is just really retarded. both talented artists but so different...its like comparing chopin to metallica. stupid.

  • @antidrummer13 this. Im a big fan of periphery and andy mckee, both are actually right up there in my list of fave musician/bands. Variety in musical listening is fun and keeps my interest for longer

  • @Gabgabaujous Well let me rephrase that. Periphery makes music that sounds awful. They really are talentless and have no idea how to compose a song that sounds good. They just try to make the music complex

  • @AdvancedBBear andy mckee is really awesome, but comparing music is just as stupid as paris hilton

  • Periphery blows. They really do, so does Meshuggah. I'd listen to Andy mckee over them any day just cause its worth listening to

  • @AdvancedBBear How does either Periphery or Meshuggah blow? All to you if you don't like them, but by no means do they blow. These artists all write music to suit their own tastes, not yours. You're either 10 years old or an idiot.

  • @AdvancedBBear U jelly :D

  • @AdvancedBBear You dirty fuck. That's ALMOST as bad as saying Animals as Leaders is "talentless". Go burn.

  • Umm Misha is a boss and probably better than Andy

  • Andy McKee > all three guitarists in Periphery combined

  • If you can you should interview Tosin. Periphery rules.

  • new album is going to be tiiiight! Mark is amazing.

  • 4:15 skip the shit, get to the good stuff. You're welcome.

  • Djent has got to be the dumbest idea ever.. I'm very open to metal. And i listen to pretty much every genre of music, but djent is just stupid beyond belief. Its the exact same chugga-chugga style riff over and over again in every song in a stupidly low tuning played on a 7-string. Its boring as all hell and very limited to what you can actually do. Only reason why everyone loves them is because they jumped on the bandwagon without thinking.

  • @Bludhoundz8

Sucks that you don't like it.

Honestly I couldn't care less about what genre bands are put in. All I know is that Periphery is fun to listen too and the first time I heard Tesseract, I had their album on a non-stop loop for about 2 weeks.

  • @Bludhoundz8 i totally fuckin agree dude, and all these dumbasses say the same shit...."it doesnt suck, its different! ur not open to change" blah blah, fuck off. its not change, its just some stupid "new concept" that some asshole came up with and put on youtube, its not even legit. oh, and Periphery sucks fuckin Zebra dick :D i wish ppl would stop being idiots and listen to real music....

  • @Bludhoundz8 I mostly agree with you; but you have to admit, those 3 guys are really tight. That was some difficult shit, and nobody lost time or each other once!

  • @BobSaggot666 Well, yeah, that is true. They are good players. Except for the one at the far right, closest to Rusty. He spent more time looking to the other two for approval and less time looking at his fretboard and focusing on the music.

  • @Bludhoundz8, first of all, djent is not really a genre but a playing style for guitar with its own guitar sounds as well. periphery, like meshuggah, is a band that is standing out not because theyre "jumping on the bandwagon" but cause theyre unique with an individual, respective sound. i totally dont understand how you could call them boring because of monotone style. listen to complex songs like buttersnips or totla mad and get the melodic and rythmic diversity

  • @Ghruul I do take that back now. Djent has really grown on me. Same with Periphery. Really enjoying the music now. And I do enjoy Meshuggah, i always have.

  • Andy McKee and Rusty Cooley = Captain America and Iron Man. THE AVENGERS?!

  • Alex ruins periphery so bad hahahahah. good god

  • @dontrunmusic good thing hes gone then

  • Alex Bois is such a sloppy guitarist. He spends half his time looking round for approval and less time looking at the fretboard. And now he's been replaced my Mark Holcomb who's infinitely better. Chuffed

  • the bloke in the middle looks awkward as fuck..

  • @ChuckisGOD1 thats misha... haha

  • takes three to play that crap

  • That first solo sounds like butt hole

  • @krisgraves69 vagina hole

  • Andy mckees so cool :O

  • holy fuck im a new periphery these guys are beast.

  • jake looks sooo happy haha.

  • Good Christ periphery are tight.

  • @Visualundeath too bad their singer sucks so bad. oh well, they did release an instrumental version of their album.

  • @LWRCftw Nope. Singer is awesome.

  • @Visualundeath its the bareknuckle pickups.

  • "If you haven't played fingerstyle guitar ....without a pick and all that " lol

  • Why am I not impressed?

  • andy burns everybody else in this video :)

  • i think rusty is a very cool dude for paying respect to other guitarists.

  • @MParseface38 i know, especially since he could easily just be like "stand aside noobs, the master is playing now"

  • is that Rusty interviewing Andy?

  • >_> fernando sor it was matteo carcassi

  • 1:21 Alex's eyebrow lift at the bent note, lol

  • first time I've heard Andy talk. And that acoustic is just jawdropping sound

  • holy jesus fucking christ! 3 guitarists and they all play seven strings... lol

    thats epic... haha

  • holy shit.. i have the same shoes as misha the white lases and everything!

  • Tosin abasi...that is all

  • @GJRM18 pwned.

  • I only know the Ibanez in the left, what about the others 2? What's the make of them??? :)

  • @minazmorgul Two of them are playing Ibanez guitars, bro.

  • @Ibanez3x So they're all Ibanez, right? :D Never seen before :D

  • @minazmorgul 2 are Ibanez and Misha's (Middle) is a custom brand.

  • @NipplesMagee Bernie Rico Jr :)

  • @minazmorgul misha has a custom bernie rico

  • The Periphery part is tight, and when I say tight, I mean tighly played.....fuck it, it's badass.

  • is tht Lord Marco all the way 2 the left?

  • Pretty sure this has been one of the most helpful vids i've seen so far. I've been so curious about Andy Mckees technique and i've always been curious about Misha's three part guitar composition technique.

  • the periphey jam is one of the sickest things iver ever seen

  • you're my boy blue

  • 1:00 to 4:25 wtf?

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit Periphery has the tightest gain pretty much ever.

  • @slanderoushalo yeah the most compressed gain you will ever hear -___-. honestly Periphery ain't my thing. Never found their riffs all that appealing. And Not a big fan of Djent outside of Meshugga.

  • needed more mckee!

  • that fredboard is so much more finger-eco-ergonomic!!

  • Jake makes funny faces whilst playing.

  • 1:00-4:15 for Periphery Only.

  • Don't give a fuck about how many strings you play. People should learn to play a six before they start playing sevens.

  • @90fourninety These guys definitely know how to play six strings.

  • @SMZMUSIC1 Yeah I know haha I didn't mean Periph, I mean a lot of people as of late are getting 7s who suck in the first place.

  • @90fourninety Ohh okay in that case I agree with you.

  • What is the name of the song in the background for the opening???

  • Comment removed

  • @peoplesnyukka3 ya...violin isn't very advanced.

  • Comment removed

  • @peoplesnyukka3 k, go ahead and learn some paganini caprices. maybe the tchiakovsky concerto. i bet i can post a vid of me covering some periphery before you can get the first 4 measures of any one of the caprices down and sounding polished. and i'd have to borrow a 7 string.

  • Comment removed

  • @ggalexhutchings i think you underestimate the talent guitarists have . . . classical music is great, but it's not impossible..

  • @ZyggieFromJiU o, i know it's not impossible. i've played it since i was three. and i'm not trying to underestimate any of these guitarists. i've been playing metal guitar for about 4 years now and i'm a big periphery fan. i'm just taking a little umbrage at somebody picking up a violin, scraping out a few notes and deeming it simple or easy. and fwiw, oli is a classical guy.

  • 6:16 that is hands down the coolest tuning I've ever heard hahaha

  • rusty, misha, and mckee in same video!? too much diversity and badassness not to sub

  • nice main riff.. but why 3 guitars?

  • @Soilwar Because having 4 would be too much.

  • @Soilwar

Well the idea behind having three guitars is that Periphery would be able to reproduce layers live (since their music often has many of them) while still having a stereo guitar sound underneath

  • @Junnage: Yeah, that's true. I really like layers.. but in Icarus there are a bit too many for my taste, less would be better for the song imo. :)

  • from what i know of jamming with the few ppl i jam with and like this... its really difficult just to set up the right volumes and match up to each others tempo, i cant rmember if they used a clicker?

  • thumbs up for periphery

  • Oli Herbert is such an incredible player, I think he should do a side-project that isn't metalcore so I can enjoy his playing more.

  • Rusty is such a humble guy

  • @EyeShred69 yeah i always thought he came across as a douche in his other vids but he's cool in this

  • 2:35 What!1 Misha actually played something not great! I'm in shock lol

  • The Periphery bit is smelly. You can see that what they're playing is right but it's not coming through.

  • @AnataNile i think it's just because there's three guitarists playing and no drummer or click to keep time or anything like that. when almost every rhythm in the song is as syncopated as this, it's hard to keep time playing with other people without a drummer keeping a steady beat underneath.

  • i saw the title i actually thoght it was Andy, Oli and the guys from periphery jamming at the same time

  • @BADBOY131 me too /:

  • @BADBOY131 The collective jizz from everyone who has watched this video would have flooded the world if that was the case

  • @BADBOY131 But then the world would implode on itself..

  • Andy Mckee is a fucking beast.

  • No met or anything and it's so clean. Nice.

  • When I clicked this vid i thought that it meant they were all playing together :(

  • 3 part tapping harmony.

  • Fucking Andy McKee. I don't think he knows how to stop being awesome.

  • Jake is not amused..

  • Periphery's noise gates are so ridiculous lol

  • RUSTY LOLLLO

  • Man, Rusty is all over Andy.

It's good to see a bond of Electric and Acoustic. I know a lot of guys that completely abhor each other because what they play. It's awesome seeing these two completely different styles actually chill.

  • funny that many peoples think's they really understand's so many things about music, composition and playing, so they can judge. I guess how many of them can actually good. So, more practice :) less speaking.

  • play good*

  • I love Periphery, but it's funny because it takes all three of them to do something that Tosin Abasi can do with his 8 and a looping station XD

  • @xNekoNadiax and ur point? 0_o

  • imho periphery's playing was the most beautiful :)

  • imho periphery's playing was the coolest one

  • 5:23 Rusty didn't mean it.

  • @tonykragness

LMAO he sounded like a douche!

  • 3:28 Triple tapping!

  • I absolutely loved the last arpeggio Andy played, I already learned it! :)

  • Is everyone playing a guitar with more than 6 strings these days...

    Except me!!!

  • @oilkills Yeah I just switched to a seven a few months ago. It helps with the style of music I play. If you haven't tried one you should especially if you like playing some of the faster heavier styles of metal. They are a lot of fun.

  • @oilkills Yes :) Definitely get one if you dig Periphery and Animals As leaders

  • @oilkills Who gives a fuck how many strings you play? Some people are actually decent musicians and know how to use that wide range of notes. God damn so sick of people complaining about people using 7/8 strings.

  • @codyjay23 So... who the fuck is complaining!!!

  • @oilkills My mistake so many people these days complain about having 7/8 strings i figured you were one of them, but my bad!

  • @codyjay23 No worries... at least you like Periphery!!!

    What about uncle John?

(Petrucci) um... his uncle, not mine! Lmao

  • @codyjay23 Its all about seven strings now ;) Fuck anything lower in my opinion

  • @codyjay23 Personally I find it irrelevant. You can make something just as beautiful on a 6 string as you can a 7 or 8 string. And Id say all 3 require just as much talent as the next to make genuinely good music. Its simply a matter of what you want in your music specifically that determines what type of guitar range you should have. To be fair I don't see any logic behind complaining about what instrument plays, rather criticize what they play on it if anything.

  • @codyjay23 7 strings are the best,,, juss saying

  • @codyjay23 He wasn't even complaining. How did your comment even get that many likes :|

  • @oilkills

    good for you
