  • how do i get the "punchy-earry" sound out? When i play sometimes with the pedal it makes really earry sounds sometimes, you prolly know what im reffering to? like when you attack strong with your pick, almost like a zakk wylde type squeal on a higher string it cuts tonality and gives a harsh sound. Anyone know how to set the pedal to fix this?

  • cathedral at 3:00 :D

  • Thanks for this vid! i got one DD-3 for quite some time now but always wondered if my effect is "normal": the "effect level", even when on the lowest position lets quite some of the effected signal. ARe all DD-3 like this or just mine?

  • hey at 6:27 the hold function seems to fade away, but what i read about this pedal from a site is that the loop on hold function will abruptly end. is my ears just messed up or is there a way to fix that?

  • @petree

The hold function continues until you press and hold the footswitch. Just when you remove your foot, the repetitions will stop. That in the case of DD-3, not sure if DD-7 repetitions remain after you remove your foot, like a fade. In the sample I recorded and you mentioned (6:27), I did not stop the effect, perhaps it was his impression.

  • @caracoles01 i think you kinda misunderstood my comment a little. i understand that you have the foot held down the whole time. but what i've read about the dd-3 is that loop on the hold function will so to say "cut" off at the end of the loop before it repeats again. To sum it up, the delay on the hold i heard is kinda sketchy because it creates a delay that will create a sound, abruptly end all noise, then repeat the delayed section so the transition between each delay is awkward.

  • @petree

I understand what you said now, it seems to me the following: The DD-3 has very little time to HOLD. If the person makes the phrase so the cycle goes beyond the minimal time, this will be cut sharply, causing it to give it effect you mentioned. The problem then is to fit the size of the musical phrase. Note that my sample contains a very small phrase, which prevented the court ahead of time.

(I do not speak English, I'm using google translator, sorry if I get confused what I wrote).

  • @caracoles01 not at all! i understand perfectly what you said. thank you for clearing things up for me!

  • IS TAIWAN OR JAPAN???

  • @MONDOCHITARRA

    taiwan

  • @caracoles01 TANKS I SUBSCRIBE YOUR CHANNEL MY FRIEND!!!

  • @MONDOCHITARRA

    You´re Welcome!

    :)

  • Like everyone else has said mate, terrific video, you've shown us some excellent settings! I wouldn't mind having the tabs for what you play at 1:27 onwards, either, if you don't mind? This video alone sold me the DD-3, way more educational and inspiring than the cheesy american reviews. Thanks man, appreciate it.

  • @milkster1001

Thanks for the good reception of this video. It was done in a very casual at the request of friends who asked me settings. I usually do not use tabs, which is why I can not help you in this regard. I hope the video is still useful now that you also have a DD-3. Part 2 of this video has more settings. Thanks my friend for the good words.

  • @milkster1001 ha are you talking about the little kids reviews? i hate those too

  • very good demo of the pedal. good job mate!

  • @agentelectric

    Thanks, dude.

  • Bought it after work today, played until past my bedtime, very cool pedal, love the hold feature, could'nt stop playing it and turning knobs, thanks again for posting this, boss should send you all thier stuff for free to demo on here, you sold me

  • @bildo2580

    Thanks, my friend, good luck!

(I answered your other question below)

  • Great player, check out his other videos!

  • @bildo2580

    Thanks :)

  • Awesome job dude,thank you,I'll get one

  • Hi, I looove your demos, just a quick question, what colour is the label below your dd3?

    thx

  • @jomayerjo

    Thanks :)

I don´t remember what colour is the label below my DD-3, but today the pedal is fixed in a pedalboard and to see the label, I would have to disassemble the pedalboard. Sorry!

    :/

Oh yes, is made in Taiwan, not made in Japan.

  • @caracoles01 wow thank you for such a quick reply. when did you buy it? is there any manufacture year written anywhere?

  • @jomayerjo

I bought this pedal in 2004. Once I have chance, I'll look in the box to see if there is any indication of what you ask me.

  • @caracoles01 Thank you so much... Im guessing its a pink label. This pedal+ your playing and fast replies = awesomeness. Wish you success in your musical journey =) Btw I have a DD20, well, it does sound quite digital, but its got some funny2 kinda delay, just for your info, maybe I should upload some vid in exchange for your favours =)

  • @jomayerjo

    Thanks!

    :)

  • @jomayerjo

Only today I could see the exact color of the label under my DD-3: Dark Gray.

I hope I have helped to clarify your question.

    Cheers.

  • 1:27 hermosa cancion man!!

  • @tomacorrientes1

    Gracias.

    :)

  • 1:27 beautiful song men!!!

  • 1:27 beautiful song men!!!

  • whats the song at 6:22 ?????!!!

    ITS GREAT!

  • @karolsoda

    my music :)

    thanks

  • what songs are you playing at 6:22 onwards???

    I love it

  • very nice demo, thank you ;-)

  • Cathedral! Nice! Don't hear that played too often

  • Disconnected from the source?

As in putting it in bypass?

    Nice video

  • @ty2drew

(I don´t speak english, dude, so, it´s difficult to extend my answers, sorry)

Disconnected from the source = no AC adaptor connect / No battery

    :)

    Thanks!

  • How long can the hold function store riffs?

And does it keep recordings for later use after it's turned off or until something else is recorded?

  • @ty2drew

In DD-3, the hold function is very short (2 or 3 seconds, I don´t remember now), but in DD-7 is 40 seconds!

As I recall, it does not save in memory after disconnected from the source.

I don´t use this function in DD-3 (But if I had a DD-7 would use this function very much)

  • just messing around a bit but for that part around 1:28 start with a open d chord and play around with an open e string and the 2nd fret, then do to the F# bass and add the second fret on the g string do a G bass with the third fret on the b string, then go up to the d chord on the 5th fret and play something liek this,

    e5 10-10 7

    B7-8-10-8 10

    G7

    D7

    A5

E5 all the time keep the palm muted rhythm chuggig away, have fun

  • please tell us (or send me) the tabs for that song at 1:27...its awesome!!!!!

  • cara.. vc conhece algum pedal de delay q tb tenha algum loop? um pedal q eu possa gravar uns 5 ou 6 segundos pra ficar repetindo?

  • @GUUUUU2099

Sim, o DD-7 da Boss, que se não me falha a memória, tem 40 segundos de loop.

  • Your pedal reviews are GREAT! Thanks!

  • @thebibleisalltrue

    Thanks! :)

  • Finally someone that can actually play bluesy stuff.

  • OK, hombres, it looks like caracoles01 isn't giving up the tab for the U2 thing at 1:28 (those mysterious Brazilians). Sooo, somebody who knows how to figure out and tab a tune (which is NOT me) needs to step up and post it. He's playing a D chord (with some F# & G bass notes) but I'm not sure if he's strumming a standard open D or barred D.

And that's MY contribution. Now, get on it!

Tis beautiful though! Just like those Brazilian women!!

  • Sweet! I liked the ending examples a lot with the way the "hold" mode works! sounded very nice!

  • @afranzy04

    Thanks. :)

This final part is that I have more shame. I recorded using the guitar out of tune. But did the video for some friends and he took larger proportions than I expected so I kept it anyway.

  • Nice song 1:27

  • Phenominal review!

  • @openthedoar

    thanks

    :D

  • 1:28-2:30 is AWESOME

  • @geetarspaz

    :)

  • i re-listened to this because of your playing, not the pedal.

  • @geetarspaz

    thanks, my friend, you´re welcome

    :)

  • the sample is great. i want the pedal even more now. youre a really unique guitar player. my style.

  • @irzacharyy

    Thanks

    :)

  • Hey man, I love your samples on the dd-3. Especially the U2 inspired song and from the other video, the Pink Floydish song. Do you think you can post a vid of you playing those songs. I just bought a dd-7 but cant make it sound like that. Would like to see your chops on the guitar. 70's and 80's Rock is the best.

    Thanks

  • @kennethg0523

thanks man : ) ... I´ll think about the videos.

  • you are a good player :)

  • @vegunited06

    thanks, my friend

    :)

  • Excellent job of demo-ing this pedal. Each example of your playing fits well with the delay settings. Everyone should watch this demo before posting their own.

  • @davebuzard

    thanks!

    :)

  • fantastic demo, but a demo of your playing is what I wanna see... your friken great man.

  • @xspadescom5

thanks my friend, I have other videos in my youtube channel with me playing.

  • Very good demo of the pedal, and also like your playing

  • @watwthmot

    thanks

    :)

  • 3:31 love that effect

  • Thank you very informative...RM

  • cool i didnt know about the hold thing haha thanks thts totally wicked

  • You are not only a Great player, but you are an expert at using effects! Thank you for these videos!

  • @bozzojoe

I am very glad you appreciated the samples, my friend. Thanks!

    :)

  • @caracoles01 My Pleasure!

  • how works the direct out? what can do?

  • @ivaneu

this pedal is stereo, so, if you plug a guitar in "input" you will have two "outs" for two different amplifiers,

    1) direct out: only the sound without delay

    2) output: only the delay effect

  • hi, how much is this pedal?

  • Sounds good. One question-- How is this thing in terms of tone coloration. For example, is there a quality difference in your tone between this pedal being off, and actually physically removed from your signal chain?

  • @rokr432

I don´t speak english, but I understand your question, so, I will try to explain with certain difficult using some google translator:

All Boss pedals don´t have truebypass signal. If you have one single pedal, and with a excessive attention, you will note a little difference in clean signal IF you are a extreme critical about your sound, BUT with a two or more, yes, the bright of your clean sound will be aggrieved.

  • digital delays, FTW! 800ms of lean, mean, clean beauty

  • excellent playing and really great demo

    thanks dude =)

  • @MatthePower1

    Thanks dude!

  • Palm mute at 1:27 is fantastic! Could you send me tabs? :-)

  • best sample settings demo for my dd-3!

    thanks dude!

  • NICE DEMO... THANKS

  • I like 2nd part. its easy but still is good

  • i've just got this peadl like a week ago, i basiclally only got it for playing a bit of audioslave, cochise tbh, but i thinkin from wa i hear here its a such a better pedal for blues and stuff, i think you can get better clean riffs from it than heavy ones

  • @taylor0714 ,

for heavy riffs, try to use DD-3 before the distortion pedal or drive channel... for heavy drives/distortion, de DD-3 sounds better before...

Guitar --> DD-3 ---> Heavy drive or distortion ---> input amp

    or

Guitar ---> DD-3 --- Input drive channel amp

    try this,

    good lucky

  • heyy thanks, ill give these a go, im waiting for my Boss ML-2 to come, so ill have to try n get sum sounds out of those together, these little boss pedals are really worth their money, they are great tbh, and im gonna give u2 a listen cos i think this pedals good for their songs

  • @caracoles01 you would want the delay after all kind of distortion always unless you like weird sounds of course.. the reason is because you don't want an amplified delay signal (cause it usually sounds crappy and gives a lot more noise) but you want the distortion to be delayed.

  • vale a pena para um som bem edu ardanuy???

    me responde aew

    valeu

    tambem sou de sp

  • Eu não vejo restrições em usar o DD-3 no som do Edu.

    abraço

  • that a telecaster?

  • No, it´s a fender talon IV heartfield... the single coil and the maple of body sounds a little bit like a telecaster :)

  • the palm mute improv 1:27 is amazing!

  • yeap dude....it sounds incredible!

  • Wow, i really like the last part of the video....the HOLD section, i like your style.... Keep Rockin ;)

  • dude my pedal is addin color to my tone

its like 1octave has been shifted higher in short n medium modes

ne suggestions n ideas bout this??

  • I don´t know, dude. It´s not normal to this pedal.

  • I bought this pedal a few days ago. Best money i've spent, very fun pedal. Check out a video :O !

  • you actually do the pedal justice :O

  • Dude can you send tabs on 1:27 when you palm muted! I have a DD-3 And i wana try it out it sounds coool haha tabs or chords anything thanks =D

  • Whats up men, 3:31 sounds like volume ascending/descending, you can set this effect with this dd3 delay??

  • this impression is because my way to play, I played with right hand a rhythm alternating strong / weak touch...

the delay just repeat this pattern bringing on this effect...

  • i love the samples but that hold function has so many possibilities....im buying one pay day for sure.....thanks for posting this man

  • I don't think this was a good demonstration of this pedal. Don't get me wrong, your a great guitarist, but what you played sounded sloppy with the delay. (in my opinion anyway) Either way, thanks for the demonstartion and samples, 5/5.

  • Allright man, thanks to express your sincere opinion.

This samples just a one way to use, of course, my way, but not the only and the best way.

    :)

    Cheers

  • nice demo~I am going to buy one

  • can you plug in a dd3 delay pedal to a 15 watt amp? lol just curious (:

  • i have a 15 watt. and it works great.

  • of course

  • i like that U2 thing, really great :-)

  • thanx!

    :)

  • very, very interesting....great!!!

  • This and the DD-5 the best but DD-3 is abit better.

    I own a DD-5 so I know

  • how do u get the guitar to sound like that in the beginning and no im not talking about the pedal

  • A fender Heartfield with a single coil fender middle + HB Di Marzio Paf Pro bridge (split) ---> Amp fender ultra chorus Solid State

  • oh ok ive been trying to figure out how to get that sound thanks man and also ur really awesome at playing guitar

  • Is the DD-7 worth the extra money?

  • in my opinion, for my personal use, yes, the DD-7 is wonderful...

  • definately, i have one, the tap tempo feature itself is worth the extra cash, you have no idea just how handy it is, especially at live gigs.

dont scrimp on the DD3, especially if you plan to use delay live, you will regret it

  • just got my dd3 whoooeee. this vid should definitally help me.

  • Good demo! You explain the Hold mode better than Boss and you didn't even say a word.

  • ok so im kind of a new idiiot and i dont really know how delays work. you plug the delay into the amp right and then you plug your guitar into the delay and thats it right? yes or no

  • yes

  • alrighty thanks.

  • good vid

  • 1:26 pra frente...

    Apavorou, parabens.

  • The Boss is my favorite hands down. Ive been using the same one for like 12 years at least and its tough as hell. The buttons arent even loose yet! I run it in my board for vocals also. Boss is the s^&* !

  • Hey.. great video man.. really nice samples..

I've had the thing for 4 months but never really figured out the hold mode.. i never really tried actually.. but now i know..

btw.. do the feedback n delay time knob settings matter during the hold mode??

    if they do,

and since the mode button is not available for making a selection, what mode does the delay time knob work on?

  • vc poderia mostrar como fazer seu u2 thing (mostrando as maos)

  • I've got one of the first series and ive had it since it first came out. That version is supposed to sound warmer because of the different circuitry but honestly I still think its kind of a crap pedal for overall delay. It just eats too much guitar tone. Have a loop board so I can - truly - bypass it - i would never use it if i had to run through it all the time. Even my pesky old alesis quadraverb was better but got stolen so there ...

  • So good to see a demo where the settings aren't all turned up to maximum --- that's all some demo-makers think of doing.

  • Thanks, my friend! :)

  • i love the hold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh lord i buy this pedal a few days ago and i did'nt know how 'hold' worked out! many thanks

  • hold setting is awsome!!!!!

  • Does the DD-3 have a tap tempo setting?

I am planning to buy one...

  • No, DD-3 do not have a tap tempo, unfortunately...

but, the DD-7 has, and much more...

    good luck!

  • From 1:27 and on, that sound was incredible, I would really like to know how you were playing that, was it raking or muting of the strings while you let single notes ring out? Sounds Great!

  • Thanks. A "delicate" Palm Muting ehehe

    cheers

  • 1:53-2:00 (L)

  • Sorry, I don´t understand...

ou, me desculpe, eu não compreendi o que você quis dizer...

  • excelent!! thank you!

    Valeu!

  • Equipo:

Fender Heartfield Talon IV --> DD3 --> amp fender Ultra Chorus

    Bons sons!

  • recomendo o DD-3 muito mais que um handmade.

  • you surely know how!

  • what a level.... Very well man

  • oooooooohhhhhhhhh

yo kiero uno efecto delay q bueno

  • Great vid!

    One question tho:

I tested a DD-3 Pedal once with the HOLD function, and i felt that the looped part lost quality over time during an improvisation in a similar manner as you did from 5:56 to 7:14 on the video. Will I lose sound quality on the loop using my guitar, or will i not?

    Simon

  • Thanks, Simon!

I don´t speak english, so, I´ll try to answer (missing some words)

maybe you lose VOLUME, test the level of effect. I don´t remember how much the loop is affected by this knob.

Please, after your test, post the result here, ok?

    thanks !!

  • Part 01:302:30 je luxus!!!

  • great test...:) i have dd3 but it n? the running this

  • Hahaha really sounds like U2 altough as far as I know The Edge uses a DD-2, but they say early releases of DD-3 are the exact same :D

    Oh and...keep rockin! :D

  • Thanks

    :)

  • Fantastic my friend. Can u please tell me

if the dd7 is worth buying over this pedal?

    I would like to know.

  • Thanks!

Well, for my use, yes, the DD-7 is a wonderful delay pedal. Probably, is my next acquisition. But, if you not use tap tempo or analog delay simulation, the DD-3 is enough and more cheap.

Oh yes, I´m not pretend to discard my DD-3 anyway, two delays in the set is a excellent possibility :)

    Good Luck!

  • i love not only how great the delay sounds, but how you can loop pretty easily with this pedal. this'll be my next pedal

  • thanks! :)

  • you should get a dd-7, then: it can record up to 40 seconds on hold mode, and you don't need to keep it pressed down for the looping to keep playing. i have one, it's AWESOME.

  • rockabilly!!!

  • 1:45 Really Cool im glad im getting this pedal now!

  • yeah that thing at around 1 25 is beautiful- kinda post rocky- i love it-

    well done

  • thanks

    :)

  • Hi...do you have the tabs to the U2 inspired piece at 1:25? It's very sweet and sounds amazing.

    Thank you.

  • Hi, it´s my band´s music, composed by me, I don´t have any tab, sorry! Thanks about your kind words.

    :)

  • haha where can i buy some?? lol

  • this is the best delay pedal :)

  • does this pedal disturb the sound when it's swicthed off?

  • When you switched off, the pedal cut off the repetition immediately. But if your question it´s about a signal quality when the pedal is in the pedal chain, well, any Boss pedal has a small lost of signal... nearly undetectable when it´s a single one pedal, but, increase with more pedals... you will detect this if you have a perfect "guitar - amp" clean sound... cables and other variables increase or decrease this fact.

  • 3:50 sounds like ZZ Top!!! Great!!

  • thanks!

  • wats the cheapest u could get for one of these off the intern.?

  • I don´t know. I have this one a long time yet.

  • Most of the DD-3's on eBay costs about 100 bucks, but I'm sure you can get it cheaper. :)

  • would you know which is better? the boss reverb or this delay? i want one but im not sure what the difference is... can anyone help?

  • I never really tested a boss reverber with all your possibilities. But is a reverb, not a complete delay pedal,is another type of effect, with other aplicattions...
