This is not the 'back corte' as described in the International style standard syllabus for Tang (ISTD). It is a simple version of an American style step which we incorporate into our Beginners class and video. Our intention is to keep the class curriculum interestng and easy for the Beginner student. The variation you described is correct and would be more suitable for a Bronze level student. I hope this is helpful.

I already know those moves. I'm learning the Tango and I am doing those moves for the first specific moves. LOL

The book I have says Begin backing LOD,
1. Back LF, LS leading, (S)
2. Back RF (Q) (CBM & CBMP)
3. Side LF slightly forward (Q)
4. Close LF to RF slightly back. (S)
Finish facing diag. to wall. (1/4 turn from 2-4)
This video demonstrates something different. Therefore I'm confused. Could someone please clarify?
