There is no other gun that has as much history to it as the thompson. it was used by the most famous gangsters every to live. They didnt use ppsh41 pos and takarev tt33 sidearms they used original guns used in U.S.A that are worth 3 times as much as any other gun because of the history. John dillinger didnt achieve being the best bank robber of all time using cheap soviet weapons. In my opinion the original thompson 1919 is better than the ppsh. ppsh=7.62x25mm Tokarev 900rpm. Thompson=11mm (.45) 1,500 rpm. I go for firepower, and the original was even faster than the ppsh. The thompson was awesome till the army messed it up and lowered the rate of fire, took the cooling fins, and took away drums etc still a great weapon. The Thompson chambered an even bigger round at first (.45 colt) then the army lowered it to the .45 ACP. Which one you want? .45 or 7mm? You choose.

kjsh987, you are confused. you are mixing inches with millimeters. in fact, in millimeters, the thompson smg is 12.5mm. now, compare that to 7.62mm. to be fair, the poppashaw (ppsh41) was much cheaper to manufacture, and had a high rate of fire. but, for sheer knock down power, the thompson rules.

It was used during WWII. It was easy and cheap to manufacture, and it could hold about 10 more rounds than the tommygun. Still, nothing beats the good Thompson 1928 Sub Machine Gun.

How? The PPSH 41 is comparative crap. the only advantage the PPSH has is it's cyclic rate of fire is higher. Honestly that isn't even that great of an advantage in this case. The Thompson is better built, more accurate, has better ergonomics, has more controllable recoil, and fires a larger/better cartridge. So how's the dirty Cossack POS SMG better, dude?
