I heard in a radio interview with Dabo that the "sack" was also planned so that it would cause the defense to slack (thinking he was going down), the pass would catch them off guard, and give Jacoby the immediate advantage. Gotta love the excitement of trick plays. One of the many things that make college football great.
it was a trick play jacoby faked tying his shoe and getting screamed at by coach and he was completely wide open it was great!!!!Got Dabo??????GO TIGERS!!!
this awesome play was called cocka doodle doo, how i know this? well jacoby ford was neer our tail gate and we asked him that question and why he was neer out tailgat? well jeff davis is right across from us and he invited some plazers to come down and chill o and it was a leagle play.

Sorry...I'm not a Carolina fan. Carolina sucks and so does Clemson. Two epic fail programs deciding who's the bigger failure. My only contention was the rule and it's application.
The score stands, the call was missed. Nothing will change either
the 9-2-2b rule applies to a totally different type play that the Dallas Cowboys once ran with Michael Irvin. You are an idiot if you think this is an illegal play.
2008 Redding Study Guide (Companion to the NCAA Rule Book)
"Example 10-20: 2nd and 10 on the A-40. Two subs enter the game and three leave the huddle, one of the departing players stays on the field in front of his team bench and goes downfield to catch a touchdown pass. Ruling: The 15 yard penalty is enforced from the pervious spot leaving Team A with 2nd and 25 on the A-25"
so another words lindsey faggot did not sack Harper before hand? which would have canceled the whole play so quit bitchin.what about the rule with the dimarco kid who ran out of bounds and caught a td? HUH huh
We did not huddle! You know your rules, but you are far from reality! I am an official. I knew someone would try to throw this rule out there and I was waiting for the chance to jump on it. Thanks for the early Christmas present.
Incorrect. Nothing illegal about it; he lined up and the defense simply failed to cover him. It doesn't matter if he was crouching. Besides, would it have made a difference?
Incorrect. There was no attempt to "fake" a substitution. That would be a huddle infraction anyway, would it not? Jacoby was simply crouched down and "pretending" to receive info from Brad Scott. If this play was illegal, then a plethora of plays teams run are illegal. For instance, when the qb pretends to not understand the play and approaches the sideline while the ball is snapped. I've never seen an official blow that dead. Stop being a sore loser and let the kids have fun, it's not the NFL.
First off, there is no need for hostility. Second, my point was that there was no substitution process taking place, which would refute the rule you are citing. Chill. Anyway, no one other than coots has made any comment that it was an illegal play. You guys simply can't ever lose can you? Steve already consented that Clemson is the "better team and better coach." Go wallow in your misery.
Not hostile - stating facts. LJ was in the wrong position on the play and blew the call. When the rule is posted and you continue to deny the obvious, that makes you a dumbass. I've got no dog in the fight as both teams are laughable. Grab a rule book and get a clue...or remain the dumbass you are. Your choice
That was a perfect trick play by Dabo. Ford acts like he is going to the sideline before the huddle...but stays on the field with his back to the play. The ball is snapped and he starts down the field. Awesome stuff
the last time clemson was truly happy lol

i was at this game and i thought he got sacked!! lol i didnt see that he thrown it until everybody went crazy and i seen a lil blur runing

Wasn't he pretending to tie his shoe while being yelled at by a coach - i.e. "not being ready" - instead of pretending to be leaving the game?
Either way, it's pointless to argue. It happened. As Einstein once said, "It wasn't called, therefore it is"

um no offense, but first off it was in the papers, and second, why would he b tailgating b4 a game, instead of getting ready?

wow ya'll need to quit bitching and realize that no matter what ya'll say, it's a TD and even if he was down, we still destroyed carolina

We didn't huddle so the rule you listed doesn't even begin to apply.
Besides, even if it DID. Erase that touchdown. Great. Final score?
Clemson- 24, South Carolina- 14
We still beat the crap out of you, so just give it up please.

no, we still would have scored a touchdown on that drive so make that 31-14

Zbubble19 3 years ago
You obviously don't have a clue about the rules of the game.
Rule: 9-2-2-b
Not even close to being legal
The "difference" is teams should be allowed to run illegal plays....period. The LJ blew the call; no question about it.

9-2-2b: "No tactic associated with substitutes or the substitution process may be used to confuse opponents".
That makes you a dumbass for thinking it was a legal play. They got away with it, but the rule is clear.

Key words: substitution. Receiving a play is allowed. If it were not, how would plays be called in a no-huddle offense?
