They are truly an amazing boat in rough seas.Ive kept mine original with a single ad 41 p-a 200 hp turbo volvo penta deisel.(bullet proof)She gets on a plane quicker than two outboards(ive have a mate in qld, same boat with two 175hp engines). She punches through big swells and land like a cusion. She runs 20 knots @ 13l/h with a1 duo props which ime changing to a3 shortly. When its really rough, you only see a few sail boats in the seas and shark cats.
We have a 2100 kevlar cat and a 7m Coastal cat they always out perform our mates mono's in the rough. People have to know how to drive cats they react a lot differently to mono's. I am also a boat builder and have had much experience in both sorts. Cats roll due to people not knowing how to drive them.
i have a 24 ft original shark cat twin 250 hp yamaha , smashed it over a wave and broke my mates back in three places ..... no matter how good they are take it easy guys!
The main footage shown here in my opinion are bruce harris shark cats.Notice the major curve to the bow(original cat), i would like to see how the noosa cat handles in rough seas. Not in little breakers at the end of the footage.
noosacats are good in ways, we have had a 7, 9 and an 11m noosacats, they are decked out with all the gear but handle like crap in big seas. there pontoons are too close together with makes them roll a lot more. cats are way better than monos by far. we currantly have a 10.5m nustar cat and crossing the wide bay bar in a 4 meter easterly swell probably wasnt the smartest. the last 3 waves at the back were big greenes, about 5.5m breakers, they broke on the bow with 1m of water over the windows
im wif old mate. cats are the go. iv been in formula's and othere single hulls. there good but no were as good as cats. my old man has a 2800 kevlacat. and in 20 kt plus we leave the mono hulls for dead. we are cleaning fish and sucking stubbies by the time they get in.. ohh and there sore.
@coldanman You wait till you get in, I usually drink one as I pass all the poor mono's struggling. Don't think I could go back to mono's anymore motoring in rough weather is just so much easier in a cat.
Pound for pound SharkCats / Noosa Cats are by far the best small - medium sized rescuse boats on the water. I spent 10yrs in the RAAF on 28ft SharkCats we bought from (Bruce Harris) in the 80's. You just can't beat em ! Always felt very safe in them especially when rescuing silly yachties in 5 - 6 mtr swells 20 miles out to sea. Provided you have coin$ to maintain them & 2 x reliable motors they are THE BEST ! Try crossing any Nth Coast bar in 5mtr swell in a mono hull - Well, you just wont ! :)
@ICEKNIGHT66 anyone knows that sharkcats/noosacats dont fkn turn!!!!! thats why the sponsons on the markham dominators are rounded off to turn quicker. Yet it defeats the purpose of the twin hull and therefore they are a really shit boat. ive driven numerous boats, go drive a few and then think about what you write.. all the best mate, stop embarrassing yourself :D
@NA355 Who hasnt driven numerous boats... Ive been In plenty... and cats STILL POUND, All boats pound, FYI I have pro fished from a 2700 NC, So Ive had exp In both, Less cats around yet more roll over then Monos... And Its not only the rollinators that roll....
@ICEKNIGHT66 ive owned 3 cats, still do own one, and i've owned 4 monos. theres simply no comparison. mate, i do very very regular bar crossing. i've worked professionally from 2 different kingfish boats leadlining, one a 6m boat, other an 8 meter and both owners are shocked at how great the performance is, the only reason they dont go for em is because its hard to leadline with motors so far apart. so get off your highhorse, when the weather cuts up and a cat leaves you behind, youll see!
Ya still havent explained why more cats roll over then monos, Being that there is less cats then monos..... Dont blame the weather either, Some cats have rolled over in desirable weather.... Soft riding though......
@ICEKNIGHT66 youve got no idea and it shows. Why arn't there many cats around? because most fisherman can't justify buying two motors and pushing 2 hulls, too much . To them, when its rough you stay home. In a sharkcat, you keep going, obviously like anything it has it's limits. And when you say "they roll in desirable weather", those are the markham dominators, they are a nugget of a boat. I went from a 28 ft formula xtreme 2 a 2600 NC, can never go back, its proven fact
@NA355 ICEKNIGHT66 youve got no idea and it shows. Why arn't there many cats around? <<< So youve just admitted there less cats around... But more of them roll over then Monos.... Do explain ? :) That was my EXCACT point...
@ICEKNIGHT66 if coarse i admit that there are less cats around, its stating the obvious. why are there less around? because for starters, who the fuck wants to tow a 4tonne plus boat when you can get away with a tinny. who wants to fuel up two engines when you can get away with a small single. Well i am one of those persons, and there are afew others who can "AFFORD" to. i laugh when im racing a formula or a 30 ft caribbean in from the sea mountains when the weather cuts up over 30 knots
ICEKNIGHT66 you are a TOOL!!! what cant you see in this video?try this with your mono and we will see you being rescued by a CAT! as far as your question, simple PRICE!
i will bet you have never been in a sharkcat at all!just a big month know all, f***K all!
