  • @milretdisvet Lorraine Hunt Lieberson’s iconic performance of these songs was indeed beautiful and moving. However, I don’t think that should discourage other (brave) artists from singing them, even though they must know that there will be people for whom Lorraine’s performance will never be matched. Peter Lieberson himself listened to this broadcast, and wrote positively to Sarah Connolly afterwards - see her own comment on my upload of part (4/5) of the Neruda Songs "Ya eres mia ..."

  • No offense to Sarah Connolly, but nobody could sing this like Lorraine and I wouldn't want to sing any piece after Lorraine sung it and be compared to her....it's really not fair to all the other Mezzo's.

  • @musodavid This is a lovely song cycle, and Sarah Connolly does interpret it beautifully.

  • Apparently Lorraine cried after this song everytime. I don't know how she got to the end..

  • How lovely--both the songs and the singer. Thank you.

  • @janetdyoung Thank you for your nice comment; I am so glad you enjoyed both.

  • What a gorgeous effort on the album cover! Sarah Connolly sings this majestic work with grace and beauty.
