Thank you so much for sharing your story, I have no doubt that what you said is true. I hope your family and friends who were stuck in the situation are all doing well. Remember that this country and these people are not our own.
Wow, thanks for telling your story, thats terrible that racism is still running rampant throughout the world even with the likes of Jane Elliot, Martin Luther King Jr. and many other great life teachers who have shown a better way, to a stronger, brighter future without hate. So sorry to hear what you went through. So very glad you lived to tell the story. Thank you for sharing your story.
As a fellow human being(white) I just wanted to say you are no nigger in my eyes. God bless you for what you had to face and the ugly side of humanity you saw. I hope this hardship brought your family closer together and made you a stronger person.
don't tell this story once. tell this truth again and again until the finger pointing to the 'shameful'' behaviour points in the 'white' direction. i was married to an african american and i experieced the racism, violence of racist fear, and too much blatent injustice. keep on keeping on. love to you.
@EricArceneaux I'm white and I'm british,Im 13 so I cant even remember this happening but when you say that about the milatary people, I actually feel ashamed to be white, and Ive never thouht myself different from my best-friend coz shes black but I cantr believe that you had to go through that x
Eric, thank you so much for sharing your story. I watched all 3 parts. And although I wasn't there, I believe you 110%. B/c I've seen Black people treated this way in so many other examples and situations. I'm so sorry what you and your family had to suffer through. But I am glad you made it and able to share your story (the truth) with the world. B/c you know we're not going to get this kind of info from the media. God bless you always and keep doing well. I'm very proud of you.
I am so sad Papa to hear of this. I know of someone who also stayed in their house alone 3 days w/ water to their chest and to walk miles in deep water to get help. This is beyond words to imagine. I am so that grateful you survived to tell this story and I mourn as well for those whom we have lost. My stepfather was one. Bless you always - In love and peace, another mixed blood black and native brother, known as Miguel!
I KNOW NOW THAT WAS WRONG AND IM CRYIN NOW BECAUSE I WISHED I COULD HAVE HELPD HER I SAW BABIES DIEN OF OVER HEAT MY LIL COUSIN SKIN WAS PASS THE COLOR RED HE STARTED TURNIN PURPLE I WAS THINKIN WHAT AM I DOING HERE WHY US GOD WHY MY SISTER PASS OUT THE WHITE MAN MOVED AND LET HER HIT THE GROWN ME AND MY SISTER UNCLE AND THEM HAD TO PICK HER UP AND PUT WATER BUT THE WATER WAS NO HELP BECAUSE IT WAS HOT THE PRESIDENT FLEW OVER US BUT DIDNT LAND THE ONLY AIR WE GOT WAS THE AIR FROM THE HELICOPTER
man thanks for making this video,I left that sunday morning with my fam so i went through nothing like you man.But i feel the pain because I coukd have been right there too had I not left early.Video touched me,hope it did our fellow americans because Katrina hurt us so much i cant see how people could be so uncaring for us regardless of our skins color, were humans dammit!..
man i dont no what to say im just glad you and your family got through it the american government could have dun a hell of a lot more it really makes me sick to the bone when i saw them people suffer like that
thats nuts bro... im glad you shared your story. i knew the story of what happened through katrina's truth never was shared. nothing against what happened BUT they need to create a drain system so this wont happen again. what you have to understand is the city is like a bowl.. once the leaves broke the bowl filled... the US has alot to blame for the pain of the people that went through all of this
this is unbelievably touching I have so much respect for you to have the courage to share your story so that we can know the truth...I went through suffering after hurricane Wilma destroyed my neighborhood in Florida where I used to live and it took FEMA so long to finally get there to help, but my family did not endure the kind of suffering yours did and I thought my experience was bad but wow do I really commend you on surviving under such circumstances and then having the strength to share
eric im so sorry to hear ur story. and its also very sad and scary that there is still this kind of evil racism in our country. ur story sounded like a modern day slaveship/ holocaust event. our government is evil. and we are all in this struggle, whether black white hispanic asian, we're all slaves to those who run the world directly.
Thank you, Eric. I'm from Spain. I've seen the news, i've seen movies regarding the tragedy, I've been a turist in New Orleans 2 years ago. All those put me into situation but you've made me understand what the hell was going on. Now, I've decided to listen to Sam Cooke's "A change is gonna come". Music is powerful. Hope!
OMG!!! I from Baton Rouge but my family is from New Oreans. I had no ideal it was like that. I watched all 3 parts and all I could do is cry. God Bless You and your family my heart goes out to yall. For those who did evil, it will come back on them. Congrads on your career and keep faith baby.
No one is better than anyone, we are born equal, until actions and reputation lowers your social status and/or respect. The only thing that changes the "black" people to "white" people is the amount of melanin under the skin, and unfortunately, history, which is and will be something that we can't change, but to live, human should walk forward and less "backwards" (if you see what I mean).
I am also a "Katrina Survivor", however, I am a single white woman. For those of us who made it through, we know it was not a race issue, it was a human issue. I cry and pray for you and your family. May God uplift you all!!! May He grant you and yours peace. We can only ask for God to forgive those that thought one person's life was worth more than anothers. God Bless you and yours!!
Eric, you were not the animals. The military people who stood back & let it happen were the animals. That is similar to behavior shown by the Nazis as they herded men & women onto trains headed for work & concentration camps. They'd push as many people as possible into boxcars. People would fight each other to get in &, once in, they were packed like sardines with no sanitation, no ventilation, and NO ROOM TO MOVE. You experienced typical Nazi-style behavior. Thank you for sharing.
The science of a creating supreme white race was an AMERICAN idea. Eugenics. Over time this BS has been passed down through generations. It's a damn shame. The only solution to this problem: Everyone must avoid their natural instincts against people unlike themselves. Stop listening to old ideas and become tolerant. If not then at some point history is going to repeat with another holocaust.
It is not difficult really to imagine what a state people would have been in in that situation, having been incited towards violence just to get on a bus to get some aid, some military exercise to alienate people from one another, divide and conquer when some strategic planning could have had people moving out a lot faster, safer and with basic humane treatment, totally out of order the way you were all treated, I think this is what they have planned for us all soon.
Right on! I am "white"to the world...but in my heart. Well, I am the great grandson of a Cherokee Indian slave. My "white" grandmother was taken form her Native Father and White mother and send to "Indian Schools." She never told me...she never liked us to say we were Cherokee in public. America is wonderful, America is selfish and sick too.
I feel bad for those people who were stuck in that stadium. And don't feel bad for defending what you love. What could the the army do help settle everybody in a civilized peaceful manner?
What happened there shows what happens when things get out of control in any color of skin.
your so much more dignafied than i could have ever been in that situation. Im so glad that you felt you could share this and show the truth of what happens in these situations.
thanks for your story and honesty. i believe the soldiers now are brainwashed and trained to be racist, viscioius pigs, i believe this was some kind of experiement in crowd control and genocide. where are the survivors of the FEMA prison camps, are they all dead? I FEEL sorry for every one who had to endure this. people need to come out like you and tell the true story and bring america out of its slumber of thinking everything is ok it's not please write to me. i want to write this.nan
while gov. takes stats to see if ppl will kill eachother and if so how long would it take. satanistic gov. with MK ultra soldiers. my mom from lousiannia so glad she did not live to see this. she loved all ppl. it would have killed her to see for this gov. made her life hell which gave her very high blood presure and almost died 2 yrs. before her death in 84. yup they wanted you to kill eachother we will be tested again. yes my mom would have done the same till forced.
It says in the Bible, this world will only get worse. And it's evident Revelation is really starting to take place.
I'm studying about racism in my University course right now and am very compelled to show this to my prof. This has been a topic of discussion for a while.
Damn eric thats fucked up man. just a couple things id like to say and i mean no offence or to take away from your story cause its tragic and its real and the world needs to see and hear this, but had any of those soldiers been black it probably would have went down the same cause a soldier is a soldier and they are trained in times of stress and pressure to forget they are human and be just soldiers just remember none of the world is the world we think it is unless we make it that world
I'm also from New Orleans, Eric. Katrina was so heart breaking for me, and I, myself, didn't get house damage or have to go through anything like you did. I still have all of the Katrina victims in my heart. And to the racist comment below me...I hope God changes your mind about racism. I'm white, and can't stand racism.
I agree; it exists. I read on Huffington Post last week about the terrifying calls on a Sarah Palin website for Obama's assassination. (I pray for his protection all the time.)
Racism never left, though I think things were getting better in the seventies. It was that progress toward racial harmony, I believe, which triggered a horrible backlash against it.
Seen "The Obama Deception" yet? Or "The Fluoride Deception"? All the major agencies and institutions are controlled by a neo-nazi core, no politician will change that, the banksters control it all, video.google "The Money Masters".
I think racism exists on the small scale; but on the large scale it is more discrimination towards people of low income or in the inner city/notorious areas.
I'm a black male in the U.S. Air Force. I've dealt with more racism than I thought was ever possible. The Jews didn't think it could happen either. FEMA has Concentration Camps on closed Military Bases. The Revolution is now.
Eric, thank you for sharing your story. I have to ask you this. Now that you've experienced what you have, are you, and others you know better prepared to fend for yourself in the event of another incident whereby your normal resources are not available? Are you able and willing to help others prepare themselves and their families to be self sufficient, and not HAVE to rely on this racist government in a catastrophe? We must avoid our military in a crisis at all costs.
Thank you for the story, it inspires me to fight against people who bring hate even at the most troubling times. I can never fully understand what you went through but at least I can recognize the people who bring out the worst of others.
Eric, there are good people (regardless of their color, background, etc...)on this earth, but unfortunately there are also many apathetic & noncaring ones too; as your utube testament verifies. I'm glad you & your family made it through. I sincerely believe that because people like you talked about their tragic circumstances during Katrina, the public has been made aware, and steps implemented to prevent such a disaster from happening again. God Bless
I found your channel by searching for information on vibrato, and then I checked out these videos. This story is all the more powerful after seeing the upbeat attitude you have in your other videos. This is how the internet is changing us: a lot of Americans live in very white communities, and wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to hear firsthand stories of racism and brutality, told directly rather than through the corporate media.
We have hurricances here in FL...more than New Orleans. You don't see us acting like a zoo. If a hurricance comes to FL, we do the smart thing and evacuate. The Hurricane refugees in New Orleans need to self evaluate themselves.
Ok, some people could've evacuated. But think of all the poor people in New Orleans. Do you think they have cars? and if they do, would they have money to evacuate? even for middle class people. They have to pay for gas, hotel, food, etc. Some people can't leave.
I don't think that people in FL get abandoned the way the people in NO were.. I was able to evacuate but am disgusted by the "response" to Katrina in NO.. And I'm whire - like that matters.
I kid you not, I read a book by Ellie Weisel, I forgot what is was called, but it was about his experience during the holocaust (he was a Jew.)
The SS men, or I mean the military officials who said you had to fight for a bus sounded like the SS men who threw bread in the trains and laughed at the Jews for fighting for it.
Thank you for notifying me of this. It makes me pretty angry.
Katrina and Sept 11 were done on purpose. Katrina witnesses heard explosions at the levees. Do not discount what they say, even though there is no film of it. For you own safety you need to know about 9/11, watch September Clues on you tube, and your eyes will be opened. Do it quickly or you will live on in ignorance, asleep at the wheel.
Your 2 statements are totally true and I thought I had typed those out myself. I too am Native Indian and the slaughter of 80 million Indians ON American soil was never written about in the history books, but the holocaust is? Hmmm, something behind that too! Your right though, most "tragedies" that have happened are ALL govt owned and done to start herding humans together for global domination! Keep speaking the truth, people ARE waking, slowly, but they are waking!
America is and always has been racist and empiristically aggressive. I look white, but I'm Native American Indian also, and my family hid from the government in the caves in Arkansas when they rounded up our tribe and forced them on the walk to Oklahoma. The soldiers turned their weapons on the white settlers who tried to throw food to the people they had starved along the way. All history is recent history, 5 years ago or a hundred, the government is corrupt. Your vote isn't even counted.
Now I know why, when I watched the news people in the projects were shooting at the police not wanting to be rescued...
They must have heard about that area and said F- That crap I aint going throught that BS.. Im safer here where im at.. Survival of the Fitest-C Murder Boy..
of course the media is nurtured by violence and negative stories. Even to the extent they make it up, as happened with a journalist for was it the wall street journal? This is why I encourage everyone to make the choice I made a year ago, and stop watching the tv news. It is not informative and inflammatory. what an embarrasment and what a negative reflection of our crappy racist government. How can we expect other countries who hate us to respect us when our own government doesn't respect us?
i cried my eyes out watching all 3 parts to your story....ive never really known what anyone has been through untill watching this... i admire you that you can speak out and tell your story ....... xoxoxoxoox
it's sad that few people realize how f'd up our country is becoming, that nothing matters anymore but what the governement says, this isn't democracy, and in my opinion, our votes are not going to count anymore, they only want our votes to see what we think, but then again, they could care less.
i applaud you as well eric, for posting this up,the united states needs to change, and the people need to speak up, set aside the whole immigration thing, and the racism, and focus o stopping (prt 1)
Hi Eric! I really feel bad about what you had to go through. I had to go through war. But in your case it is more unbelievable to hear this because we are supposed to be over this racism thing. Yes war is bad and nothing good about it, but such things to be carried out in a country that is supposed to be "Civilized" and "Racism Free" are just unbearable. I think that it was an awesome idea for you to go and post this. This is what I wanted to hear, and inside story. Peace on Earth!
Thank you for posting this. It's important to know the truth. It's horrible to think that military personel that were supposed to keep order did nothing. Do you think they might have been afraid to use force themselves because of the era of political correctness we are living in? If they were actually laughing can't they be disciplined for not doing their job?
I applaud you for being brave enough to tell the truth, Eric. Our country, the so-called, "Land of the Free", is bigoted and prejudiced, full of those who hate anyone who is not of their own race, whether it be white, black, red, or yellow. People who faced Katrina and endured the neglect had to have had their faith in this government shaken to an all time low. But, what can we do about it? What can be done about? Those are questions that we now have to face.
I feel ur pain bruh... racisem still alive, i come from Iran and live in denmark, racisem is a big issue here.. it dont get brought up in the media, but everybody look at us like a bunch of terrorist..
Bush fucked up New Orleans.. yall need to open ur eyes
Thats so sad i can't feel the pain u would have gone/still going through, i can only imagine & it makes me so sick that one being can treat another like that when we are all the same. I'm white girl & i don't like raisist people, when i hear stories like this it just makes me so sick that someone can be so cruel, its VERY low. treat every one like ur own brother or sister, we are all the same, B or W, what ever country we come from...
I come from a very conservative New York family and I have herd stories of racism at it's worst but I still can't believe that this happened in the 2000's and while I can't excuse the behaviors of those solders that only bring shame and embarrassment to our people black white or whatever if we are meant to be a nation of equality and freedom I think it is about time we start acting like like one.
Hmmmm...Eric, do you have a video that explains, why the people to whom you're referring, were in the situation they were in duing that time? Let me know.
I respect you for bringing some type of intelligence and knowledge back to people and i mean EVERYONE all races are embarrassing themselves and using one another to get the attention off of them. I feel so bad that you had to go through that but in a way i am glad it was you because the next person may not have tried to deliver that message in such a peaceful and intelligent way.
I don't feel the need to apologize for other people...but like you were hearded into a pen physicly...I'd hate for people to put me in one mentaly cus i'm white, I live in a portarican area & they shut down a factory on my street to arrest 100s of "illigals", i went out to stand w/ the familys & cryin kids Only to watch the cops treatin young children & wifes like dirt CRAZY!!after watchin this I feel a need to be more PROactive though...thoughs who do nothin are just as guitly sometimes!!
WAAAAA!!!...You had to fight?? Drag ur family...THNX GOD they didn't leave ur bro!!!
I was lettin my dinner cool & was goin to do ur lessons...i got sooo sucked in to this story & it went cold. Again, I'm a white kid & felt embarrassed not attacked! CRAZY!!
I love Eric"s teaching but I must say the lesson I get from this (being much older) Never rely on the government for anything. It is a TUMOR! It's purpose is to grow and feed off of it's host. Regardless of political party. Like a tumor it doesn't know (or care) that it is killing it's host. God forbid it takes control of the health care system. Eric has an Idea of it's compassion.
I hardly remeber him raising his voice at someone. I know how much his family means to him, and he would not have left his brother behind. If they all were not on that bus he would have waited longer if he had to. Eric I commend you and I know that this story will speak volume everytime it is told. Stay strong my Brother. Hold your head up because you are a survivor.
People who are reading this, Eric is 5'5, 160 pounds. I can only imagine what was going through his mind when he saw his mom getting hurt. Eric is absolutly not a fighter, but a peace maker. He always thinks. He uses his intellect (padon me for my mispellings) to win against his enemies.
I have to honestly admit, I was relaxing in a comfortable apartment because I got out in time, but, AND ERIC YOU KNOW I MEAN THIS, if could have switched places with you I would have in a heartbeat. I would not wish anything that you discribed on my worst enemy, but for all you have been to me, I would have traded places with you. I almost could not watch this last video.
Eric I hope you read this. Everyone, I am very close to this individual. And one thing I know about him is that he is a honest person. He says what is on his mind and does not hold his tounge. To see someone that I have known for over 4 years, and have met his family numberous times, they have opened their home to people without a second thought, very kind, generous people, having to be treated like they were discribed is horrible.
Again, I only allow comments like this to remain as evidence for all of you who would presume to believe that racism is a phenomenon that no longer exists in present day America.
aww that was really emotional Eric. you did the right thing by stating how you feel and the responses that come in that argue with you are just plain stupid!! I dont understand how people discriminate towards other people for the colour of their skin. Im sorry you had to go through that.
well eric i am a white person and i am embarassed of what some white have done about skin colour. It doesnt matter whats your skin colour is everyone on earth should be treated the same wheather it be black people , white people or any other kind of people nobody should be discriminated at any cost.its embarassing. and for all you people who ever discriminated anybody i am ashamed of you. Christopher Léger
It's disgraceful how the media covers up how disgusting their government, and members of "authority" are able to treat people unfairly just because of a slight difference.
The world has matured and I think it's safe to say we're all smart enough to accept people the way they are, for who they are.
It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, it's what's on the inside that counts.
Every single person is different in appearance but everyone of us has a brain and heart.
So I think we should use both of them and realise discrimination and racism should be a thing of the past, realise if something as silly as skin colour allows us to hate one another we'll all end up fighting our life's away.
I'm sorry Eric. I'm white and I am embarassed by the actions of other white people. Looking back though, I'm sure that throughout history, I would have felt the same many times over. When will we learn?
When Kayne West had the courage to say what he said about George Bush, i did nothing but yell in agreement, when are people going to wake up and get mad about the current situation of our world, and by world i mean our governments, when did we trust these assholes up on their high horses with our entire lives, and survival, the very same men who brainwash our armys, handle our money, and our freedom, ect. Hah, what freedom?, and we're working as slaves.

I Just don't understand how a video of a chipmunk get more views than an important video like this. Will people ever learn thiis didn't happen to New Orleans alone. It happened to all of us. We are one! Do the men that held back the people like that- do they really think this can't happen to them?
(cont'd from the other 2)i often find myself saying in classes "i will not let martin luther king jr. die in vain" and you should know that your story (which i am so incredibly sorry....even sorry is not the right word!...this occurred! i feel so frustrated that i do not have the words to express what i want to say- which is really i wish this never happened!)...your story is one i will never forget- you give me a reason to educate. i wish u and your family only the best
im so moved by your story- every emotion comes into play, but mostly pain...i guess i just want you to know that although i was not there to physically help during this time, i have devoted my life to making sure no one ever forgets.
oh Eric. im mostly speechless, but all i can bring myself to say is thank you for posting this. i have dedicated my life to academics- specifically american studies, and i am often asked the question (in the us, but also here in germany) why american studies? what culture? what issues are there left to explore in america? and no matter how i try to enlighten people about the tangibility of bigotry in america, no one ever seems to really get it.
You are right but you need to take a look who is in the executive office.Wealthy people in the southern California area whose houses were burned down got immediate help. Micheal Chernoff was there that day. Everything was available for the wealthy. It always is. The fact of the matter is if you or your state are not a part of the GNP,Washington and any other executive orders be it state, local or otherwise could care less.
may I ask why didn't your parents wanted to leave when the government asked you all to do that. I assume they were not strangers to hurricanes. My family is from La and they got out
For those of us who actually grew up in New Orleans, hurricane warnings were many and greatly sensationalized. Every storm was "The big one." It was like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." My parents lived in a part of New Orleans east that had not flooded in over 2 decades, despite the many storms and hurricanes.
Same thing in N.O. and So Florida. It makes sense for many people with good homes on high ground might stockpile just wait it out. the storm hit So. FL worse, twice actually as the storm doubled back. As Eric pointed out it wasn't Katrina it was the shoddy levies over a day after. And it was the stunningly callous, inept response by FEMA, etc. in the following week(s)when the area was in a state of hell!
Still, why MY parents stayed is totally not the issue. Many simply had no means by which to evacuate. The act of staying did not warrant such cruel behavior from the part of the U.S. gov't. (part 2)
Wow... i'm at a loss for words. I'm not American, nor have I ever experienced racism, so i can't really relate and say i know what its like. However as a black young lady, I felt the pain in which you described as a result of the obvious racial actions of your government. I was touched by your story- and wish you never had to go through that. Thanks for telling us your experience, I was richly blessed.
I am greatful to have seen your videos. Thank-you for the awareness of what happened before, during, and the aftermath of Katrina. It was very moving. I felt as though you reached my heart, like cupid. You are blessed with a life to share your courage, humbleness, strength, pain, and your heart. Simply, THANK-YOU....FOR SHARING!!!
My botha i am so sorry 4 what u and ur family had 2 go thought just 2 live, c shit like that makes me mad at the world and hate that all we care about is cell phones and laptops and not people who need our help in the world and I can c the pain, hate and hurt in ur eyes, and all I can say is i'm sorry and I hope that u can heal from what u and ur family have been thought man and I love u 4 comming 2 the light with ur story, keep ur head up and stay strong. Peace
I HATE to be associated with these kind of racists just because of the color of my race (white). You need some way to go to the news with this or I don't know, just, this is so horrible.
Please know that I do not perceive all whites as being racists. I experienced much kindness and genuine concern from many of the white people that I met, once I arrived in Houston. I just happened to be unfortunate enough to encounter a cluster of racist jerks in New Orleans. You don't have to feel responsible in any way for their actions.
you a true role model and i am in every way amazed and very proud of what you have said and done here....what you said created a very REAL picture in my head, but i know that even words and facial expressions can't express all that pain and suffering you and your family and countless others went through....
America is said to be a place of freedom where all your dreams come true....right now, that title is forever broken in my eyes.....i can't believe it....
Eric, I just want to say that I am sorry you, your family and everyone in this crisis who have suffered from Katrina. I support you 110% in stepping up to voice the truth of the aftermath of Katrina. God Bless
I knew when Hurricane Katrina struck it was planned and created, on purpose. I know a telephone repairman who was down there Sept-Dec 2005. He said FEMA was deliberately cutting phonelines, and when fixed, FEMA cut them again. Look up New World Order, North American Union, weather and mind control, illuminati, US concentration camps, and go from there. This entering a dictatorship that will be far worse than Hitler's Germany. We have to wake up and fight this together!!!
If you're on here, I'm sure you've done much research on what happened, and you probably know about the New World Order by now. Anyone who doesn't know about this, should study this NOW! What this man has said is only the beginning of what's coming... we are going into a dictatorship that will be far worse than Hitler's Germany. PLEASE look into this... everyone!!! All of what happened to Eric is real and its going to hit every one of us!
I have left a comment on the other parts as well, thank you for expressing clearly what no TV report, no US documentary, no politician, no chatshow host has done.
As a black woman when I watched the events of Katrina all I had was mainstream tv, the omissions and fabrications and distortions will be to their eternal shame.
I'm reminded of the scene in Schindlers List where the Nazi officers are laughing at the people on the cattle car who are gasping for air in te heat of summer.
I'm speechless at the viciousness of those that were supposed to be providing humanitarian support to you and all those who found themselves at that depot. All I can think to say is with all my heart I hope that if the USA (or any country) ever has a natural disaster that displaces its people, that REAL humanitarians are brought in to assist EVERYONE who needs help. As for what happened, somebody or bodies should be held accountable for that!
I think that it is great that you posted these videos for everyone to see becaues for someone like myself who viewed hurricane katrina only via news castors it seemed unreal....Your video posting also acted as an eye opener to me and I will assume many others of every race of how alive and real racsim is as of today!
Thank you! I can hardly find words to say about what had happened to you. It really makes me sad how you and your family have been treated. All I can say is thank you for telling what had happened so that everybody knows the truth!
i feel it 4 all the familys out there.. these black ppl r to know tht these goverment shit holes don't care bout us, but don't worry the time is near the trumpet soon call an they will all pay 4 there bad ways... an i send all my blessings 2 ppl who lost loved ones (crying).. thanks 4 ur time ur truley blessed
I was very thankful to have family in Houston who were able to take me in, once I arrived. As far as the government is concerned, I never received a single penny. It was not as easy to acquire financial support, as it might have seemed on TV. Thank God that my family and I had savings to fall back on. I'm most thankful that I learned early on that worldly possessions are temporary and that - in America - blacks are seen as expendable.
Thank you for speaking. I believe it is the responsibility of everyone who hears this, and has their eyes opened, to tell others! Ignorance continues to be the sickness umong us all, that allows voices that would other be risen in anger, to rather stay silent as injustice continues its ugly duty. Speak now, in the hopes that others will not be silent while you face injustice.
Eric, I volunteered to help out as an Army National Guard member. We passed out food/water. I'm not surprised about some of your reports of white racism at all in military units. Our Country is still basically racist. Look at how things Black are still connected with evil and white with goodness and purity in our language.
It disgusts me that people still act like that today, and that people in power, who have a responsibility to protect the people around them, that THEY would act in such a manner is even worse.
Thank you for sharing your traumatic experiences. Man I would chew my way through a brick wall to look after my family, I can understand every word and action you described. Shame on the white family who allowed themselves to be queue Jumped. Decent people of any colour would insist they wait there turn, I know I would.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and pain. I was in N.O. for 8 weeks right after the storm.... doing animal rescue. I have heard versions of your story
from MANY residents... both black and white. A white lady had her shoulder broken and her jaw dislocated by the military. There were many that discribed to me having M16's placed on their heads to make them do things. I hope that your healing comes soon.
Hey Eric, I am truly sorry to hear about what you went through, and I was surprised& disgusted on how the army treated you guys because of your color. I am a colored person myself, and what I don't know is,what gives them the right to treat colored people this way? Everyone should have been treated equally with respect and dignity.I never heard that this actually happened in the aftermath of Katrina.I feel your pain, and I think you should be heard on T.V. Are you still living in New Orleans?
Ann Coulter would say "How dare you tell your true story and further the liberal agenda!!"
I'm so sorry you had to live thought this. No person should have to go through even a moment of this. I hope this message is heard, so changes will be brought about. And that no person, black, white, brown, yellow, purple , blue or green, will ever have to go through this again.
Again, I am sorry, and wish you better experiences in the future.
i'm so sorry you had to go through all that. i'm white, but i do not believe that white people are any better than any other race. it's sad that the government would be so racist. last summer, i traveled to new orleans w/ some friends to help rebuild. the stories the survivors told of what happened are often so different from what the media portrayed. thanks for the truth.
thank you so much for sharing your story. im absolutely disgusted by the way you and your family were treated. its appaling to think that our government, which is supposed to be the "best" in the world, would allow such a thing. i am so sorry that you ( as well as everyone else) had to go through that, and i wish you the best of luck. thank you again.
And to continue.. I am sorry for what you have had to go through, to learn, to see firsthand. I am sorry that you have to live with this knowledge for the rest of your days knowing that you had to do those things you would not do under normal circumstances. That you were forced to that point by other _human_ beings. Supposedly human beings. Be well, and Iam glad you tell this story, may it help you and many others, Anne
It's frightening to realize that humans are just another animal, regardless of our brains and supposed self of self and consciousness. I think humans are the worst animal BECAUSE of these attributes. We struggle to rise abovebeing an animal when in truth we will all just do what is best for ourselves in dire situations. It's a very unpleasant state of being, to say the least. Anne
No excuses, but it's still hard to believe that this happened in OUR COUNTRY to OUR CITIZENS! 3 yrs later, and poor folk in N.O. still are struggling desperately. Did any of us that grew up during the 60s, ever think they would witness such appalling treatment of Americans in their own back yard? How did we fall so far in less than 7 years? Where is our national pride?
Being black in America is a sercret that those chosen by God only knows about. It remains a secret even when told. I was looking at some of the negative comments on board and sensed demonic influence. For what this young man had to go through no matter what color, 2005 in America, is a shame. Come quickly Jesus!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. Thank you.
Everyone I know is trying the best they could to make the difference in our society. Yet, sometimes it does not seem like it is working, and I feel hopeless. But, I know we will never give up hope, hope to make the better world. And people like you give me so much courage and inspiration, and teach me that I have to strive to make the difference in this world, no matter what adversity we have. Thank you Eric.
Busses should not have been boarded that way. Regardless of what race boarding a bus in that type of desperation is going to lead to this. If there is not enough soldiers how can it be controlled? Was every single soldier white?
Yes, every single soldier was white save for one soldier that appeared to be Latino. Who ever said there weren't enough soldiers? The soldiers seemed more than capable of controlling the crowd, when it came time to escort the white family to a bus. C'mon people, let's be real. "Assumptions"?... HARDLY! It doesn't take a genius to connect these dots.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with everyone. I'm from Lafayette and have been living in Baton Rouge for the last 3 years. After Katrina hit, the seriously injured starting being brought to the PMAC on LSU's campus. I went to volunteer, passing out meals to the victims. I left with tears rolling down my face. It finally hit me. I called my mom after and brought up the idea of driving down to where people like you were waiting on the interstate for a bus ride out
My mom thought it was a great idea and wanted to put together some home cooked meals and rent a refrigerated truck to bring food, water, and ice down there. She hung up and called the Red Cross to see where we could bring everything. When she called back she was somewhat in shock. She told me, with a almost hopeless tone, the red cross wouldn't accept any supplies, and if we did go down there, they would just turn us right back around.

But I am glad you made it and able to share your story (the truth) with the world. B/c you know we're not going to get this kind of info from the media. God bless you always and keep doing well.

CrashevilleNC 3 years ago
Ok, some people could've evacuated. But think of all the poor people in New Orleans. Do you think they have cars? and if they do, would they have money to evacuate? even for middle class people. They have to pay for gas, hotel, food, etc. Some people can't leave.

This is why I encourage everyone to make the choice I made a year ago, and stop watching the tv news. Yes war is bad and nothing good about it, but such things to be carried out in a country that is supposed to be "Civilized" and "Racism Free" are just unbearable.

People who are reading this, Eric is 5'5, 160 pounds. I can only imagine what was going through his mind when he saw his mom getting hurt. Eric is absolutly not a fighter, but a peace maker. He always thinks. He uses his intellect (padon me for my mispellings) to win against his enemies.
maudymar 4 years ago
I have to honestly admit, I was relaxing in a comfortable apartment because I got out in time, but, AND ERIC YOU KNOW I MEAN THIS, if could have switched places with you I would have in a heartbeat. I would not wish anything that you discribed on my worst enemy, but for all you have been to me, I would have traded places with you. I almost could not watch this last video.
maudymar 4 years ago

I feel for you right now.

The goverment should try harder, or it will lose respect from so many different groups of people.
I feel for those who lost their life's and their loved ones.
And I think that if a sixteen year old girl from the United Kingdom can realise that.
The majority of Americans can too.

I Just don't understand how a video of a chipmunk get more views than an important video like this. Will people ever learn thiis didn't happen to New Orleans alone. It happened to all of us. We are one! Do the men that held back the people like that- do they really think this can't happen to them?

(cont'd from the other 2)i often find myself saying in classes "i will not let martin luther king jr. die in vain" and you should know that your story (which i am so incredibly sorry....even sorry is not the right word!...this occurred! i feel so frustrated that i do not have the words to express what i want to say- which is really i wish this never happened!)...your story is one i will never forget- you give me a reason to educate. i wish u and your family only the best

oh Eric. im mostly speechless, but all i can bring myself to say is thank you for posting this. i have dedicated my life to academics- specifically american studies, and i am often asked the question (in the us, but also here in germany) why american studies? what culture? what issues are there left to explore in america? and no matter how i try to enlighten people about the tangibility of bigotry in america, no one ever seems to really get it.

My family is from La and they got out
Creolelady281 4 years ago
For those of us who actually grew up in New Orleans, hurricane warnings were many and greatly sensationalized. Every storm was "The big one." It was like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." My parents lived in a part of New Orleans east that had not flooded in over 2 decades, despite the many storms and hurricanes.
EricArceneaux 4 years ago
Same thing in N.O. and So Florida. It makes sense for many people with good homes on high ground might stockpile just wait it out. the storm hit So. FL worse, twice actually as the storm doubled back. As Eric pointed out it wasn't Katrina it was the shoddy levies over a day after. And it was the stunningly callous, inept response by FEMA, etc. in the following week(s)when the area was in a state of hell!
johnsaintjean 4 years ago
Still, why MY parents stayed is totally not the issue. Many simply had no means by which to evacuate. The act of staying did not warrant such cruel behavior from the part of the U.S. gov't. (part 2)

I HATE to be associated with these kind of racists just because of the color of my race (white). You need some way to go to the news with this or I don't know, just, this is so horrible.
50emiludamillionaire 4 years ago
Please know that I do not perceive all whites as being racists. I experienced much kindness and genuine concern from many of the white people that I met, once I arrived in Houston. I just happened to be unfortunate enough to encounter a cluster of racist jerks in New Orleans. You don't have to feel responsible in any way for their actions.

We have to wake up and fight this together!!!
jeanniewi 4 years ago
If you're on here, I'm sure you've done much research on what happened, and you probably know about the New World Order by now. Anyone who doesn't know about this, should study this NOW! What this man has said is only the beginning of what's coming... we are going into a dictatorship that will be far worse than Hitler's Germany. PLEASE look into this... everyone!!! All of what happened to Eric is real and its going to hit every one of us!

Susiehj 4 years ago

Anne
VoyeurArt 4 years ago
No excuses, but it's still hard to believe that this happened in OUR COUNTRY to OUR CITIZENS! 3 yrs later, and poor folk in N.O. still are struggling desperately. Did any of us that grew up during the 60s, ever think they would witness such appalling treatment of Americans in their own back yard? How did we fall so far in less than 7 years? Where is our national pride?
migca 4 years ago
Being black in America is a sercret that those chosen by God only knows about. It remains a secret even when told. I was looking at some of the negative comments on board and sensed demonic influence. For what this young man had to go through no matter what color, 2005 in America, is a shame. Come quickly Jesus!!!

Busses should not have been boarded that way. Regardless of what race boarding a bus in that type of desperation is going to lead to this. If there is not enough soldiers how can it be controlled? Was every single soldier white?
drnmoe 4 years ago

I called my mom after and brought up the idea of driving down to where people like you were waiting on the interstate for a bus ride out
cool14001 4 years ago
My mom thought it was a great idea and wanted to put together some home cooked meals and rent a refrigerated truck to bring food, water, and ice down there. She hung up and called the Red Cross to see where we could bring everything. When she called back she was somewhat in shock. She told me, with a almost hopeless tone, the red cross wouldn't accept any supplies, and if we did go down there, they would just turn us right back around.
