It still amazes me, that they filmed this at a real department store and showed the real name of it: Arding & Hobbs in Clapham Junction. It was later taken over by Allders and ever since Allders went into administration it is a Debenhams. The Arding & Hobbs signage however is still on the outside of the building. Still amazes me. I don't think any departmet store (chain) nowadays would want to be seen in a movie with one of its stores getting blown up!
@TROUSERFLAP I second you in every word. Here in Brazil, I watched "Falcões da Noite" 3 times --- all of them on "Corujão da Madrugada" ('Big Owl of After Midnight') TV session. Absolutely chilling, scaring, gritty...
So, Stallone dresses up as an old lady in hopes of finding guy who supposedly been robbing old ladies in that part of town... and he doesn't bring a gun, because...?
@mm091540 ... because Sly has a BRICK in his case. That's why when he hits the robber, the guy immediatelly fall on the pavement, crying in pain and bleeding from his mouth.
@jimmbo13 Yes, that is Hauer. The beard and brown contacts really do change his appearance. The irony is that after his plastic surgery in the movie, the "after" version of Wulfgar gives Hauer's true appearance - circa 1981. No doubt he's aged since then. I think the clerk was a little taken aback but was probably used to being told she was pretty. It must get boring after a while for a beauty like that being reminded of how pretty she is. The scene really reflects Wulgar's coldness.
I'd love to see a sequel with an islamic terrorist group. Stallone and Williams would both return. Stallone being a semi-retired anti-terrorist expert Deke DeSilva who is asked out of retirement by former partner turned Police Commissioner Matthew Fox. (Williams)Who asks him to lead a special task for in tracking down a terrorist with a dirty bomb.
@bertmustin Awesome post! That would be a cool film. I wonder what with all of the Rocky and Rambo sequels, if Sly ever had an idea to make a sequel for NIGHTHAWKS...
@bertmustin If they make a sequel in 2011, it'd be 30 years since the original, making it quite possibly the longest period between an original and its sequel.
@ph4nt0mf1ng3rs Because NOBODY wants make a good movie like this one today. Because nowadays, cinema industry turned ZOMBIE MOVIES: that damned Executive Producers only make non-brain, stupid mega-productions. The '80s was the decade of excess and pure popcorn cinema which was aimed at a younger audience. The '70s gave us more cerebral celluloid efforts that relied purely on acting, storywriting and plot but all that was lost in the 1980s and 1990s. Sad but true.
One of Stallone's best movies - thanks in no small measure to an excellent crew and an outstanding international supporting cast: Nigel Davenport, Lindsay Wagner, Rutger Hauer, Persis Khambatta and Billy Dee Williams.
why did he killed that cute girl ? :(

@rickard1177 Billy Dee Williams! In his best role. Another excellent actor lost in the 1980's cinema. Sad. We need more of him.

1) Is that Hauer at the counter with the clerk. I guess contacts and fake beard will do it, but wow, hardly looks like him at all.
2) Is the clerk upset or offput by his flirting...why?

@monsta64
I saw someone at the IMDB board for Nighthawks mention an interview with Stallone saying he was too old for a sequel but a remake could work.

@bertmustin If they make a sequel in 2011, it'd be 30 years since the original, making it quite possibly the longest period between an original and its sequel.
supercreamysperm 1 year ago
@supercreamysperm The Odd Couple 2 was made 30 years after the original, so it'd probably only be the second longest period.
