Mexican are not a race, they are an ethnicity. There are blond hair blue eyed Mexican and Asian Mexicans. The illegal alien problem has nothing to do with race. This is a tool of the socialist groups who don't have an argument to defend their pro illegal alien, pro open borders agenda, play the race card and call them a racist. A few years ago there were a lot of Americans dumping on the French and no body was called a racist, were they ?

I wonder how true this poll is because if one gives desperate people a way out, then they will probably take it (or seem like they will). What's the alternative? INS chasing them down? The US is the only country where people from another country can come in & have huge protests & get away with it. I cannot go to FRANCE & protest French laws as a US citizen or they will deport me!

Do you think this is going to attract more illegals to come here? Remember R. Regans amnesty in the 80's. That seems to have drawn more illegals based on the current projections of 12-20 million. I agre with adamliette, I don't really care what the illegal think.

I am on the fence with this whole issue, rocklovely... I think that people who are not citizens of THAT country (whatever the country is) should NOT be allowed to protest in that country. We agree on that point! When you see me in Pickadilly Circle draped in a US flag protesting ENGLAND, you can EXPECT me to get arrested & get deported!

However, I do think that most US citizens profile Latinos (All Latinos) as being 'the illegals'. US citizens need stop thinking in terms of RACE in getting out the undocumented/ illegal workers. MANY of the undocs/ illegals are from Europe & Canada where US citizens CANNOT go & get work in CANADA & EUROPE. It's too much confusion based upon race.

I agree that many are suspect of all Latino's when they see them, and in particular when they do not speak English. In my case, may daugther marries a black man (who is great), my sister has adopted a Chinese and Mexican child, yet because I am "White", I am assumed (profiled, if you will) a racist. I have to tell you that I think Kennedy is completed nuts.

I don't think most White people are racist at all. I think people are good & bad of ALL races. I do believe we're a human race. But I think that people are blinded by putting Latino faces as "illegal" is unfortunately bringing out all the racist that are muddying the waters on the issue. Also, I don't know why you think that you're profiled as a racist because you're White. This is like me saying, "because I'm a woman I'm profiled as a prostitute." Foolish right??? Who the heck is "profiling" you? Trying to identify with how Blacks & Latinos feel is futile. Unless you go through changing your race (like in the documentary) you will not feel how it Truly is.

While in the service and the Federal Government, I worked with minorities that were in the majority. At the GPO (Wash. D.C.) for example, I was in the management portion of a division that was almost 90%. black (my boss was black). I was percieved as a racist until I could prove to them that I was not. If I did anything that a worker did not like, I was accused of being racist. It was alomost silly, but tough to take.

This is silly. Many DC people are not the most progressive thinking people out & that sounds like a cop-out for when they did something wrong. I wouldn't give that a 2nd thought if I were you! LOL! I'm from DC & had to leave because of the foolish mentality like that! Now I don't let haters like that get to me @ All! No offense, but MANY Federal workers in DC are in because they want to be laxed until retirement. NOT YOU!!! But am I right?

You are right on the money. There were a number of very dedicated, hard working people, but they were very easy to spot and carried the heaviest load. It was almost impossible to fire anyone. I think the "racist" response I got from many blacks is a built in defense that some had developed over the years of social injustice. After the initial shock of being labeled, I figured out how to combat it. I would call them racist first...just kidding.

Now keep in mind what we just said about many of the Federal Govt. workers & how people actually think that the dedicated, hard-working ones are going to run the I.C.E. unit & border patrol? You have people who are trying to get an 'easy' check that really are waiting for retirement that are trying to enforce laws regarding the borders? Yeah, right!

I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying that the Fed. workers are not going to enforce the law because thay are just waiting to retire?

Not that they won't enforce the laws. I'm saying that many experienced Federal workers hired to protect the border are baby boomers & seeking to retire rather than have MORE work thrust upon them. They are doing a lot of military recruiting though... if a person can get out of the military, they have PLENTY of police/security jobs awaiting them.

I thought we can't find the illegals that are "in the shadows" Ted Kennedy says we want a Gestapo to find them. This is all so stupid. They are wide out in the open for us all to see. By the way...we don't care what the illegals think!!!
