  • the 787b ia now in FM4!!!! now we just need a R92CP and the C11 SAUBER and also some 80's group C Porshe it would be EPIC!!! =P

  • The sound. D:

  • The Mazda will always sound the best...but damn the C11 flew...

  • The amount of downforce is ridiculous

  • It was awesome 5km straight 1:15 (((((

  • 1 word...AWESOME! So raw, love it!

  • The c9 has the same engine as the c11 and the pug prob is faster as are different rules etc back then but we will see next year

  • This car is flying! What a legend, what a sound, what a monster! I am pretty sure it would kill any contemporary LMP1 car in terms of pure straight line speed.

  • @Romuloadex217 Wasn't the C9 a V8?

  • @veegee92 yeah it was a 5 liter V8 sorry

  • 400kmh for a monster v8

  • unreal v8 sound....

  • I just think they should use the old engines in the new 2011 LMP1 chassis, like the 787b engine on a mazda B09/O6 for example. the audi R18 TDI has an V8 3.6 c'mon give me a break, the sauber mercedes C9 had an V12 6.0L now those were the fastest Le mans cars and not an 908 HDi FAP X(

  • @Romuloadex217 R18 is only V6. But you're right, it would be great to see these old monster engines in modern LMP chassis. Unfortunately, times are changing.

  • @TotalMotorsports V6????!!!! but the R15 has 5.5 V12!!!!

  • @Romuloadex217 the r15 has a 5.5l V10, the r10 had the 5.5l V12

  • You can not compare ..... Sauber Mercedes is possible on the plane faster than modern Peugeot 908 Hdi but overall it loses in one round, age not stop.

  • Peugeot 905 (1992): 3:21.200

    Sauber C11 (1991): 3:31.270

    This aint the lap record.

Unless you are meaning it was the record in that particular (Group C memorial type race?) race, then fair enough.

  • @MetaKnightsKirby maybe you know that the track has been slightly modified since 1990..

like in added some corner here and there..

  • @versteeght It is probably just the Group C record on the post-2009 layout. This lap looks to be roughly 3:44 (ie, this version is longer than the older one), for a comparison the modern day Peugeot 908 HDi FAP can lap it sub 3:20.

  • Saw this very car, Sauber C11, at Donnington this year, along with a collection of other group C cars. It was by far the fastest car in the field.

  • Look at the video of the nissan R90CK. It is 15 seconds faster (1990)

  • C11 @ Spa '11, some qualifying laps: watch?v=NUjaJuAbdkw

Even better, not Le Mans tho.

  • Those straight cut gears are brutal

  • I'm so happy that there are still some guys who are not scared to drive those cars around at (almost) their full potential. I know they're "old" and precious, but they're race cars, they need to race and not rot in some museum!

Thanks to the uploader for this nice footage!

  • Wheel whores brought me here!

    Sick driving!

  • guy needs a new helmet, spent longer playing with that then doing the actual lap

  • bring back group c.

  • Fantastic to see such a legendary car driven in anger around the track it was built to tame

  • 1:30 this guy got some serious balls :o

  • awesome video

  • BEAST.

  • An amazing video!!!! Thank you so much for leaving the audio just as its sound inside the car. No music, no effects, just the truth. I don't have enough words to thank the uploader for this wonderful REAL music video.

  • some other car on the track evidently made him slower.

  • Is this the ex Schumacher car that was at the Donington Historic Festival this weekend just gone? Such an amazing car to watch!

  • Comment removed

  • The other guys were just cruising???

  • 3min45 sec

  • boy he bounces like a fat ricer!

  • Correct me if I am wrong but the lap record set by Phileppe Allioti in1982 in the Pug 904,

I was under the impression that Kenny Acheson in the Silver Arrow C-9 who cracked 408hph {not recognized because he is not French:-} on the main straight also holds the record for the lap, ,

So does the 905 at 3-21 secs way back in 1992 hold the old so called Group C record or what about the Bentley Speed 8, any info please

  • no it wasnt a flying merc that was the clk's later

  • @speedsport05 no, clr

  • @speedsport05 thought the flying ones were the clr's?:P

  • is it those mercedes cars that are so good at flying ? lol

  • They should Bring the C9 and C11 to compete against the new gen. models. That would be awesome !

  • @Jr55amg That could be interesting. The new diesels are clocking times 3-4 seconds of the times set by the fastest Group C cars in the 80s (and faster than any from the 90s). In qualifyinh, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP is about 4 seconds slower on the track with chicanes against the Sauber Merc C9 on the track without the chicanes. In race trim, the record for the Peugeot is actually 1-2 seconds faster than those of the Group C cars, on a slightly longer circuit.

  • Bob was easily under his and the cars limits, without the traffic he'd have knocked off 10 seconds. Next year... ;)

  • It's the fastest lap for a Group C car in the Le Mans Legend support races, but not the fastest ever Group C lap around Le Mans either. If we discount the 3.5 l prototypes of the early '90s, this car holds the race lap record with a lap of around 3:35 in the 1991 event in the hands of one M. Schumacher. The fastest ever Group C lap was by Philippe Alliot in the Peugeot 905, 3:21.072 in quali for the '92 race.

  • he was faster on the next lap but had a puncture at the end of the mulsane he was 15 seconds a lap faster than any other group c car

  • Did he set the overall world lap record with chicanes at lemans?

  • @brown9708 According to my stopwatch he did something to the tune of 3:44 on this lap, which is nowhere near the current track record. Still pretty damn fast, though! He did a monster of a move between the two chicaines there...
