Before this, my cat was the only one I knew that prefers to drink from the faucet. He loves the winter months, because we have to leave them dripping to prevent the pipes from freezing.

People do worse things to children on camera. The only cruel thing I could think of involving a cat and balloons would be popping balloons and scaring the cat over and over. I think people are bothered because the cat shows no interest in the balloons at all, and that comes off as cruel to them. People are weird that way.

Ok, I'll give the older people a pass for being less computer literate. But the drop off for the youngest demo-group is SHARP and they're the MOST computer literate. This is apparently how they're being brought up. Bellies full of fire and looking for a cause. Parents need to get through to them.

A Mother in Michigan was arrested for letting her kid get too fat (the school repeatedly warned her), and they took the kid away. My brother in law has a special needs brother and his mother has to file for adult custody of him when he turns 18 or he becomes a ward of the state and would be put in a care home with other children which, he simply cannot do. It's just so sad. So many things wrong and people don't know how to filter out the stuff that's truly bad....Obviously from what we've just read from a teenager.

If the cat didn't like the ballons she would take off trying to get away from them or attack them. And I have cats that like to drink water out of the bathroom sink as well as their dish. If you think then you mabey you should go watch animal horders or animal cops on animal planet and see what abuse really is. She's not cry, she's not in pain nor looks agitated. She doesn't care. I mess with my cat in similar ways and he doesn't care or he's excited he's getting more attention.
And when you have a strong bond with an animal, good clean fun can come from almost anything, even something simple like balloons and static electricity. I can see that you love your cat and she seems to be very comfortable with you. Don't listen to what these other people are saying. They obviously have never had the strong bond that can come between owner and pet, a bond that I see here in this video.
Of course this isn't "cruelty" or anything of the like. I have three wonderful cats of my own, and I can clearly see that you're just having fun and it's not harming the cat in the least. Sometimes, we'll lead our cats outside when it's snowing just to see how they'll react because it's fun, but it's not like we're leaving them out there or anything or letting them get cold; we're with them the whole time. It's just good fun as long as you respect the animal's boundaries.
My cats like to drink running water too. I don't think the water will hurt her if it does not hurt you. If your cat grew up in the area you live in, then she is probally used to the water quality

I never got so much support before I added annotations. That tells me that like myself, most people had no clue that anyone could make a big deal out of it. I was blindsided by trolls & haters (the vocal minority) and no one was any the wiser.

This is not cruelty. Cruelty is causing pain, discomfort or otherwise diminishing the quality of life. This cat is clearly just looking for a little running water from a faucet and her owner's having a little fun with a natural phenomenon. Anyone who's ever owned a cat knows that cats will most definitely let you know when they're not happy and this cat is indifferent to the balloons. Ours used to pick up little bits of packing foam after playing in boxes. :) Once came out completely covered!
Aww that was funny. And you know, I read somewhere that cats actually prefer their water a bit more stale.. My cats won't drink water fresh or filtered, but always go for the toilet tank (NOT the bowl, don't be a hater) or a bowl in the sink that's been sitting for a day or so.

That's one smart cat. It knows static goes away when one gets wet. "Now just turn the faucet on" is what it's thinking "to make the balloons go away..." and when the owner doesn't turn the sink on, it moves over to the tub. poor cat.
@Pokemonpirate7 She knew no such thing. She was demanding the faucet just like any other day ("damn the balloons"). You may notice her shuttling between the sink & the tub ("give me ANY faucet"). She always had plenty of fresh filtered water in a clean dish, but it was a constant battle of wills to send a message that "your dish is fine". But as her health declined, we increasingly gave in just to make sure she drinks. Ima have to put up a vid of her just drinking from the faucet.
Poor animal's wondering what the hell's going on because its owner has just spent ten minutes rubbing strange ovoid shapes all over its fur and is now standing there watching it.
It happened once... on a very cold & dry day. Took less than a minute to attach all of them. If you laid one on the floor and she walked by, it would practically follow her. If it was one of the myriad boring videos we have of her, then it wouldn't be here. It's here because it's extraordinary. That said, there is no way I'll accept the brand of a bully for a diversion with balloons. Don't see the absurdity there? There's no reasoning with your type. Some people shouldn't procreate.
@TankUni have you ever had a cat? obviously not. cats can get a bit irritated when balloons are sticking to them, but all they need to do is walk a bit quickly. or rub against something or shake them selves to get the balloons off.
it also takes about 10 seconds to get balloons to stick to a cat. And if it really hated it, the cat could have just walked into another room.
Such a lovely lady you had! She reminds me of my first cat, that tolerant "oh, if you *must* amuse yourself" look in her eyes! My condolences... It's always hard to lose a member of the family.
I had a cat who past away but she was alone in at a cold vet. She looked exactly the same. She even had that white dot on her lip. My deepest condolences and I know how much you are enjoying that new cat of yours.
My cat prefers drinking from the faucet too. She has a bowl of water, but will come running when you turn on the faucet. She won't touch her bowl if it's more than 2 hours old.

@spikedjesus1 She's got a bowl but hardly touches it. Yes, it's cleaned & filled at least daily. But it's difficult to get her to use it. She's a faucet-junky. That bathroom is "her room" and whenever someone walks in, she jumps right up there. When someone even walks near "her room", she pesters & insists that someone follow her in. But it usually doesn't happen. Sometimes we humor her and sometimes it's just for the sake of getting her to drink.
@rswingman My cat is the same. She refuses to drink out of her bowl and will only drink out of the sink when the cold tap is running slightly. Whenever she is thirsty she will sit by the sink and wait for someone to turn the tap on!

I never got so much support before I added annotations. That tells me that like myself, most people had no clue that anyone could make a big deal out of it. I was blindsided by trolls & haters (the vocal minority) and no one was any the wiser.
I added the annotations because it's the only way to get people to read what I have to say. If I come across as "cocky", it's because it's been "me against the World" here and I'm not mincing words.

This is not cruelty. Cruelty is causing pain, discomfort or otherwise diminishing the quality of life. This cat is clearly just looking for a little running water from a faucet and her owner's having a little fun with a natural phenomenon. Anyone who's ever owned a cat knows that cats will most definitely let you know when they're not happy and this cat is indifferent to the balloons. Ours used to pick up little bits of packing foam after playing in boxes. :) Once came out completely covered!

Aww that was funny. And you know, I read somewhere that cats actually prefer their water a bit more stale.. My cats won't drink water fresh or filtered, but always go for the toilet tank (NOT the bowl, don't be a hater) or a bowl in the sink that's been sitting for a day or so.

People are so dumb, holy shit. Most cats love drinking from the tap because its running water, despite the fact they have perfectly fresh water in their bowls.

That's one smart cat. It knows static goes away when one gets wet. "Now just turn the faucet on" is what it's thinking "to make the balloons go away..." and when the owner doesn't turn the sink on, it moves over to the tub. poor cat.

@Pokemonpirate7 She knew no such thing. She was demanding the faucet just like any other day ("damn the balloons"). You may notice her shuttling between the sink & the tub ("give me ANY faucet"). She always had plenty of fresh filtered water in a clean dish, but it was a constant battle of wills to send a message that "your dish is fine". But as her health declined, we increasingly gave in just to make sure she drinks. Ima have to put up a vid of her just drinking from the faucet.

It happened once... on a very cold & dry day. Took less than a minute to attach all of them. If you laid one on the floor and she walked by, it would practically follow her. If it was one of the myriad boring videos we have of her, then it wouldn't be here. It's here because it's extraordinary. That said, there is no way I'll accept the brand of a bully for a diversion with balloons. Don't see the absurdity there? There's no reasoning with your type. Some people shouldn't procreate.

@TankUni have you ever had a cat? obviously not. cats can get a bit irritated when balloons are sticking to them, but all they need to do is walk a bit quickly. or rub against something or shake them selves to get the balloons off.
it also takes about 10 seconds to get balloons to stick to a cat. And if it really hated it, the cat could have just walked into another room.

I had a cat who past away but she was alone in at a cold vet. She looked exactly the same. She even had that white dot on her lip. My deepest condolences and I know how much you are enjoying that new cat of yours.

My cat prefers drinking from the faucet too. She has a bowl of water, but will come running when you turn on the faucet. She won't touch her bowl if it's more than 2 hours old.

I wish everyone would stay with their pets when they are making their journey from this earth to the great beyond. What a difficult decision to have to make, but when we know that the time has come and they are suffering, it is the kindest thing we can do, as I'm sure you know. I've had the honor and pleasure to get to know his furry best friend of 15 years. She was not harmed in any way in the making of this video. @spikedjesus1 She's got a bowl but hardly touches it. Yes, it's cleaned & filled at least daily. But it's difficult to get her to use it. She's a faucet-junky. That bathroom is "her room" and whenever someone walks in, she jumps right up there. When someone even walks near "her room", she pesters & insists that someone follow her in. But it usually doesn't happen. Sometimes we humor her and sometimes it's just for the sake of getting her to drink.

@rswingman My cat is the same. She refuses to drink out of her bowl and will only drink out of the sink when the cold tap is running slightly. Whenever she is thirsty she will sit by the sink and wait for someone to turn the tap on!
