  • Here is a fantastic music video that the Christian world will love! It's called "Don't forget about the walk." It was written and created by a small town pastor that is also making a feature film and has written four books. You don't want to miss it! You can go to his website by going to alanmakimusicDOTcom and seeing his music video on the media tab or search for Alan Maki on youtube or Godtube. It would only take a second to look. Show some support! He has wonderful devotionals and an app too!

  • Michael Tait looks the exact same, lolol. But Toby looks waaay different.

  • Hahahaha, man, you gotta love watchin' cheesy 80's Christian music videos! Thank the Lord that Christian music became much better in the 90's!

  • Old skool DC Talk. I'm so glad they eventually moved on to "Jesus Freak"!

  • it's amazing how young Toby sounds!

  • It's amazing to look at this, and compare it to something like "Red Letters". My how they progressed!

  • 1:35....You rock that fanny pack Toby!

  • lol look at toby! he looks so different

  • That's what u call 90s rap

  • @tgillspy1 - Now a days u can listen to the same type of music but with good lyrics by rockin Christian bands like Oh Sleeper, Disciple, War of Ages, and Demon Hunter....just to name a few. Im still a metal junkie myself and Im in my 40s, but I only listen to Christian extreme metal. :)

  • DC Talk performed live at my High School had to have been between 1981 - 1983. Most every girl attending got a poster which they all autographed personally. It was an awesome experience. I'm not sure they were expecting us to line up to have them sign their poster, as I recall it sent school staff scrambling to go find more pens. =D

  • toby reminds me of a christian Eminem in these early (read LEGITIMATE dc Talk albums).... funny, but kool.

  • One of my first Christian rap albums was this DC Talk cassette with the song "Heavenbound" back in 1989. When I became a Christian in 1986 I thought Christian music was only the hymns I was hearing in church. Bands like DC Talk opened my eyes that there are many different genres of Christian music. I loved to focus on God as I was listening to this cassette. The latest Christian music is still influenced by the members of DC Talk.

  • This video is from 1989.

  • OLD SKOOL ... lol luv it!!!

  • wow, Christian music sure has come a long way

  • I wonder how much those DC talk shirts are worth now, If there are any left at all :P

  • Wow! Watching this video and then Tobymac's Boomin' really puts into perspective just how many years ago this was. And yet Toby and the rest of the guys still got it goin' on. What an awesome revolutionary group of men they were and still are!

  • LOL! This brings back so many memories. I was just a baby Christian and hanging out in youth group. These guys came to our church and we got to hang out with them after their concert performance. They were such down to earth guys and truly trying to serve the Lord.

  • This makes me wanna jump and kick it oldskool...

    Yeeee!

  • lol this is sooooo funny! It's weird listening old dctalk songs:-D

  • Does anyone by any chance know where this video was shot?

  • yeah... a looooooooootttttt lol

  • Bahahahaha. What a change from Jesus Freak. The message is great, even if the music is pretty cheesy. But for its time, it was pretty good.

  • can ne1 help me find an artist called "plain white rapper" from like 87 or 88 i think his tape was called "metro" it had a song called"prodigal son"

  • This video is rarity!

    Great!

  • dang toby was rockin NY caps when 50 Cent was barely a teen

  • @toddyphunk LOL

  • @toddyphunk

Does that make him 25 Cent, then?

  • ha...cassette tapes...those were the days

  • I taped this video in 97 or 98, but the video tape kinda mess up so happy to see this ion youtube. OMG, first time I saw this video, I was so shocked it was dc Talk. I find it funny, but even back then their message was awesome.

  • i saw them live 1989 or 1990 halloween nite they threw a devil looking stuffed pinata in the crowd

  • awesom song

  • I was in 2nd grade when this came out!! LOL! I remember it well. 3 boys in my class performed it for one of our Friday worship days! Brings me back!

  • oh, 1989....I thought I missed you until I saw the fanny packs.

Gotta love DC T though....and keepin it real because as this sounds nothing like rap today, this is what a LOT of rap sounded like then.

  • Gotta love Toby's permed mullet. I miss the early 90s.

  • Is it bad that I watch this video when I need a laugh?

  • They all look so young and the sound is so...nineties I guess. But itz GREAT! X] The message is still totally awesome.

  • woa toby mac looks soo different

  • Oh my gosh! Toby sounds so different! And his clothes and hair! I'm a big fan of him, and, all I can say is wow! It's so different! I love it! It just seems so funny, he sounds different, they sound different! I've never heard toby go h-h-h-h-heaven, never heard the repeating sound like that! It's just so different to me! I love it!

  • I'm not from the 80's and I barely remember the last 2 years of the 90's. The song is good but dude I can't watch this music vid and Nu thang w/out laughing. I mean the dances r strange (2 me) and the hair styles r crazy. But still love DC Talk even tho I have only heard about them like 10 months ago.

  • WOW bring it back... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back... this is one of the first hiphop groups I've every listened to and seen live... Prince George like WAAAAAHT!. I then turned to E.T.W. and later Cypress hill and House of Pain... THanks DC TALK!!

    nice post too dude!

  • THANKS A MILLION!

Vidz from the 1st album are hard to find.

  • FANNY PACK!!!

  • The Fanny Pack is Killer! (LOL)

  • Tait's voice still sounds the same. lol But Toby... Oh dear. How did this get on BET?

  • Brings back memories of Youth Group.

  • It has been 20 years since the release of this album and I for one remember the day my sister bought it and we listened to in the car on the way home from the mall. My parents liked it even. To this day me and my mom love singing Heavenbound. I think it's high time they have a reunion. Twenty years deserves a reunion. PLEASE guys!!!! Take the hint....

  • lol gotta love toby's fanny pack!

  • I just LLLLLLOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEE this song, I listen to it every day!!!! Before I go to skewl, I'll listen to it, &nd it keeps me goin everyday!!!!!!

  • Oh the 90's. This video is so old school it's new school. I totally forgot about DC Talk. Good stuff

  • I grew up on DcTalk Love Em Love Em =D

  • i love the way they dance in this with the fanny packs like they're all cool. XD

    oh, the 90's, endless hilarity.

  • If only this was the 90's... I was a sophomore in high school when the demo of this came out '89. Wow, my brother was hanging out with them and gave me some cassette tapes to introduce to some kids at school. I remember playing Heavenbound and The King (alleluia) at YoungLife and everyone saying "Who are these guys?" What a career!

  • In their early days in was all about Toby. Later on when every body starting pitching in with their unique talent is when they became really good. Finally, they split at the peak of their success. It was disappointing to all their fans, but a smart career move. Except for Kevin. Sorry it didn't work out, bro.

  • Actually Kevin has had a pretty good career. He's got a pretty good following. Not as popular as the other 2 in some reguards but his talents arent' going unnoticed

  • they look so different..

  • Haha, Kevin Max looks so nervous in this.

  • Wow. Wait....wow. Wait. This...this is DC Talk? Wow again. You can't even hear Kevin in this. I wonder when he started to belt out his amazing voice?

  • It's so great and Mike's bald. . .It rocks

  • wow, they went wayyyyy back

  • Gotta dig the fanny pack....

  • WOW i forgot that they used to sound like that! :D I was soo little when this was on the radio.

  • well you shouldn't have forgotten.. this is their best stuff, well in my opinion, their first three cds are their best (my fave is their second cd NU Thang)

  • Hey, I just noticed your name. Have any of you guys heard of the old Christian rock group from the early 90's called Striper? They made like 3 albums I think.

    Love DC Talk!

  • definatly wayyy more than 3. They rock! They're actually still around doin shows.

  • it was stryper, actually. and they released a new cd in like 2002 and are working on a new one i think

  • What is the song on the synthesizer at the beginning?

  • I liked them more as RAP band

  • same i think it would b cool if they did this song but revised itXD

  • Heavenbound!

  • wow how old is this song????

  • Very. I was in junior high when this thing came out. Love it though.

  • Almost 20 years old

  • wow

  • I dont know if anyone was gonna say it or already did, but good thing this guys shifted into more of a rock band. they are "the" best rock/pop band! I dont like em as a rap band.

  • dude Dc Talk started christian rock

  • No they did not you need to watch the movie Free at last. and dude before you clam things look into your facts. this is really them.

  • Ol school check out toby mac

  • Wow, they're so young in this vid!

  • If you liked this do a You tube search for "The Funniest Wedding Dance! You definitely want to see this!" it's an old man dancing to this at his daughters wedding...Like Toby what a hoot!

  • OOOLLLDD SCHOOOOLLL!!!

  • dc talk real cristians thanks for this video GOD BLESS YOU

  • rofl wow this is awesome. dc talk is one of my fav bands ever an this is so old school its great

  • i love dc talk they are one of my favorite bands. i just found out about them recently and have loved them ever since.

  • man i love old school rap

  • this makes me smile... it's so old

  • The guys actually made an appearance on BET's Rap City behind this song back in '89. I always loved this one.

  • This was from wayyy back in tha day. Toby Mac sounds like... a kid. O.O lol

  • wow!

this must be one of their first music videos! it is great!!

  • First song on their first CD, actually.

  • Kevin has a mullet! Oh my gosh! I love these guys, though.

  • first saw dcTalk @ Creation (before it became "Creation East") in 1992... wow, makes me feel old lol my first taste of Christian music that wasnt old hymns-- nothing wrong w/ those either, but wow! dcT really opened the eyes of the 14 y/o i was! +3,000 Christians listening to all genres of music, having fun, and worshipping too... it completely shifted what i believed "worship" was/is. i thank God for them-- and others like them.

(Michael Tait is still as hot today was he was then!)

  • i love this song. it's awesome

  • Old school .. it amazing .. :D .. i hear dc talk firs one radio and it was Jesus freak .. so that song was my favorite for like 10 years .. so yeh they rock

  • Lol. DC Talk rapped? What year was this? I'm guessing before my time. Or before I can remember.

  • for YEARS, ever since they started!!!!!!! Toby was the rap, kevin was the rock, and michael was the soul! i'd say since carmen's addicted to jesus single in '88

  • Addicted to Jesus was in 1991 cause DC Talk weren't even around until 1989 and Carman's album Addicted to Jesus released in 1991.

  • a2j was in 88. dc talk's self-titled album came out in 88. nu thang came out in 91.

  • kevin's rockin the mullet!!!

  • I Love This song It has a awesome beat and I also love this group the ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song!!! LOL

  • thats crazy awesome!!

  • Wow that's old, my opinion toby and tait had all the talent, kevin was a bono wanna be in the latter years and that turned me off to kevin quick. Toby still the best dude can make some music!!

  • Kevin Max is clearly underrated. In my opinion, he is one of the most talented lyrical singers in secular or Christian music. He added an equal talent in the group like everyone else in DC Talk. DC Talk wouldn't be the same without Kevin or any other member.

  • Kevin is seeping with talent, maybe even the most talented vocally. He just doesn't make wise choices lyrically and in his musical arrangements.

  • omg! look at how young they all look, haha..this is so awesome! At first I didn't realize who it was, then it was like, "omg that's Toby!" lol! Awesome blast from the past vid! lol I love this song.

  • I love this music, it reminds me of AXE

  • hey look, it's TobyMac in a fanny pack!! xD

...I just realized that I dance like it's the 80's *laughs*

  • hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha Ilike this video!!!!!!!!

  • I never relized that dc talk was this old.

  • that's exactly what i was saying!

  • The video just screams eighties at you.

  • *shock* ....This is OOOLLLLDDDDDDD

anh, no matter how strange I feel after this video- I still love DC talk

    What are they like 14?

  • haha.

    lovee it.

    veryy original.

    IM HEAVEN BOUND!!!
