That was beginning of Sino-Japanese War2.

Sook Ching massacre - a systematic extermination of 25,000-50,000 males in Singapore during WW2 from Feb 18 and Mar4,1942. Singapore was broken up into sectors with designated "screening centres" to eliminate ethnic Chinese males aged between 18 to 50, who were civilians and were killed brutally without reason. Japanese realized that its resources were stretched with advances in other Southeast Asia, the head called off the killing on 3 March.

Chiang was convinced that he could beat Japan's main army at the fortress in Shanghai . At last Chiang Kai-Shek carried out the invasion with von Falkenhausen in Shanghai Aug. 13th 1937. That was beginning of Sino-Japanese War2.
