  • Ice cube isn't rotating the camera is :)

  • How long did it take to render that?

  • its strawberry jelly

  • No wonder so many dislikes, it's the camera orbiting the ice cube, not the ice cube rotating, therefore this video is fake and gay

  • best... caustics... ever!

  • i like how fucking HD every thing looks in real like XD

  • Must be Ocarina of Time in HD.

  • I WANT TO EAT IT!

  • Woa! That looks really good!

  • its a blood cube

  • i liked the part where the red cube turned :3

  • how do you make light break like that?

  • i demand howto make that raytrace shit cast redracted light on the floor

  • @picaticatara

again starting to learn... but I can't reproduce the same results :(

  • @PB4U i try using yafaray but it just crashes whenever i use it

  • @picaticatara Turn on: Generates Caustics in the object properties menu, and then go to rendersetup>inderect ilumination and trn caustics on

  • @picaticatara Caustics? if this is the same as in c4d

  • how do you use external rendering thingys like yafaray or somefing else?

  • The ice cube looks so icy !!

  • i tought hes black, and he sings and makes movies? xD

  • Great Caustics

  • it delivers what it promises.

  • It's like the camera rotating!

  • how to save that animation ????

  • so how long did it take

    looks good

  • caustics in blender? i didnt's even now that this is possible with this software.

  • You can also do caustics with the free renderer Luxrender that works seamlessly with Blender. The settings are much easier than getting caustics to work in Blender natively.

  • nice caustics!

  • Looks more like Jello to me.

  • holy crap, a red icecube. It's an icecube and it's red!

  • nah....im not sure about that.....xDD

  • search your feelings, you know it to be true :O

  • @littlejay123 LOL Yes you are correct.. on the surface thats all it is. But for people who make 3D animations its a little more than that :P Gotta open up that mind a bit :)

  • jelly!!! yum yum yum *eats it* good!!!

  • yummi

  • Can you give me yours options you set to make this cube...please

  • i dont't have the .blend anymore :-/

I finally got yafaray running on my mac!!! but i don't get this nice material anymore -.- I have to get used to yafaray ...

  • @PB4U why not use blender on mac?????? i do!!!!

  • You Sure This Is Ice And Not Jelly...*eats The Jelly Square*...num, strawberry flavour...nice

    5 Stars *****

  • jeeze I love yafray, but I cant fix this registration key problem, can u help?

  • yaf(a)ray is for free; no registration at all

  • I know that, lol, even though blender doesn't support yafray anymore >: ( I worked it out, the registration key is something that is installed. You need one to run anything that is installed. I just installed it wrong thats all.

  • how do i get this color?

  • very nice.

  • i feel like eating it, kinda pudding

  • Wow, so beautiful ;_;

  • im gonna do this in rl. add sme foofd coloring to water in the icetray lol

  • isnt it the camera thats rotating? :P

  • jup

both are rotating, the cube and the camera but with different speed

    :P

  • Dude, PLEASE, make a written tutorial for this, PLEASE!!! So reaistic!

  • bet that took time to render.

  • its like 10 munits of work, its preity thow

  • WOW!!!!

  • An amazing body of work, frighteningly realistic.

  • Damn good caustics. As for the deviated topic, I'd say the Hybrid Ray-Shaders idea is excellent. Imagine Blender rendering that kind of artwork at more than 30 FPS. And as tech. evolves, I'd say they already have that thing done. It's called the Quadro. They're extremely expensive for a normal user. The toughest one doesn't even have a display output (you can't connect it do a monitor), it just RENDERS the hell outta commands.

  • the cell broadband engine or processor can do this by itself without gpu. though nice work on the caustics.

  • Awesome caustics. I've never been able to get mine to look like that. :(

  • Very nice!!! How many time to render the animation?

  • sorry, that was about 1 Year ago, I don't know :-/

  • How did you do that? Could you write a short tutorial, I'm pretty efficient t Blender already.

  • oh you`re the first one who ask for a tut...

i never wrote one, but i'll try ;-)

  • tell me when you do!

  • dang ray tracing in games wow

  • its not a game...

blender is an open source 3d program...

    blender dot org

  • though it will eventually be a renderer for future games especially the evolution of processing. i am anticipating it for games in 2009 or end of 08 says intel

  • =\ its hard to say, cause each frame like this takes an hour for me..

ive tried and didnt have the pacience to render something like this

  • yes its too complex for current hardware but the capabilities of directx10 is already allowing radiosity to be a common method for games, improved antialiasing, motion blur and so much more. since processing power is becoming faster especially the new project from intel, larrabeee, penryn, and so on ray tracing can become fully interactive in our future. even nvidia is creating a chip that combines cpugpu rasterization, radiosity, and openrt

  • ohh one more thing. check out ibm, intel, or nvidia websites which i read about ray tracing hybrid in 2009. its pretty cool. i use maya and imax 4d to render my images in ray tracing. ill post a video to let everyone see my work

  • yes, but the caustics in this image are still way too complex to do real time, even in 2 years

dude... and hour a frame, it needs to be atleast 30 frames a second to be acceptable in a game

  • yes i agree, but im not sayin that caustics will be in games yet its too dificult, im sayin that intel, ibm and nvidia are explaining that parts of ray tracing like reflection and refraction will be implemented in games for 2009-10. not every part of RT just reflection. their hybrid approach which is raster,RT,and radiosity will evolve gaming dramatically. whatever hardware they have then will take care of this problem. i agree with u completely but im just making some points.

  • what im trying to say here is that it it not a matter of how but when? Almost all game developers and technological companies from ibm to scientist already approve of ray tracing to be implemented in atleast a gpu first then when it becomes common then it will be a full cpu renderer. its like cpu can rener graphics again. though i believe that its not the end of rasterization its just the evolution of gaming, ray tracing, radiosity, hybrid fusion
