The thing is, who is at cost for the wonderful things we have? Competition lowers wages, because CEOs have to keep the company afloat. Public demand for improvement would be good. If I am right, youtube changed something on here, because the users were angry about it. The people can change..
Why would YouTube care what the people want without being threatened by loss of profits? Why would YouTube even exist in its present state without an aim at major profits in the first place? This is an extremely complex system run by a lot of people, not a little gadget some guy had fun making.
That doesn't necessarily mean that greed takes place because of hard work and perserverance to invent things for society. You have know proof of that; it's basically your opinion.

Computers are made by big companies, yes, but the computer wasn't originally for that use. Also, the internet was invented by the military. Youtube, yes, owned by google, is private, however, it's the only site I can get my opinion heard on.
Why do you drive on public roads? Why do your children use public schools? Why will you use Medicare and Social Security?

The competition involved in big business is what perfected the computer to its present state. YouTube exists and is as great as it is due to quest for extreme profit, for the creators and the advertisers. The internet is as excellent as it is because of business greed. It is greed that causes such extreme advancement. However, I am not an anarchist. I don't use Social Security (except my number) or Medicare, but I do believe roads have to be public. I think all schools should be private.

You have no basis for the belief that it took competition to "perfect" the computer to any level.
Thats like saying scientists hate to discover new things unless forced to, or that there are no poor inventers.
Computers got where they are today because people love to improve things.
Also, internet and youtube are held back because of the need for profit. Youtube is working to lose its lower tiered unique people because of need for profit and internet is ahead in some countries who subsidize.

Laissez-faire markets are where big businesses thrive and create. Why doesn't it happen anywhere near as much in socialist and communist nations?

as an apple user, i beg to differ. jobs didn't strive to build his company for the good of humanity, and the premium prices prove that. these developments between platforms are about each one trying to beat the other in hopes of increasing market share. this is common sense. scientists may like to discover things but they won't do it if they can't get paid or don't have state of the art equipment to work with. this takes money. and moneymakers make this happen thru buying what they want to buy

Most of the wealth actually manage to not pay taxes via bank accounts in Europe. However, those are not of whom I was talking about. I was talking about Corporations. Most corporations figure out ways to get of paying taxes. In my city, GM got a tax holiday for "supplying jobs to the area." They packed up and left after a year or so.

What do you suggest realistically could be driving people to start businesses (which are the providers of jobs and economic stimulation) and/or run businesses and make them succeed as well as possible?
